Ripken has one of the best Ports I have tasted in the Lodi region. Their winery is on the west side of Lodi, closer to 5 than 99. The tasting room is quaint with no windows, but the focus here really is the wine. Most of the varietals are Portuguese, which makes for an awesome traditional Port, but may be a bit of a change for those used to the traditional French styles. The winery has a bit of a hippie vibe to it, but it really works. It is located in the actual vineyards for a more classic experience. The building looks pretty old, so these guys have been around for a while. It is worth a stop while exploring the area. I will definitely return to buy more of that delicious Port.

Excellent tasting today . Nothing mediocre all very tasty. Exceptional reds found here.

We made a point to stop here because they have port and we really like ports. We fell in love with the 2008 Vintage Port and took a bottle home with us (prices are extremely reasonable too!). The two girls working the tasting room were so nice, we enjoyed chatting with them about wine as we tasted. We will definitely be back to Ripken Vineyards :)

Sipping on the outdoor patio. A chilled chard on a hot day. Pack a picnic and grab a glass of wine!!

We visited…read moreStonum Vineyards a few weekends ago and were delighted with the rustic yet charming ambiance of the winery. We were quickly greeted by the friendly female hostess who offered us either indoor or outdoor seating. We chose to sit indoors to enjoy our tastings of both whites & reds . Normally I prefer reds however in the summer I enjoy a crisp Sauvangion Blanc or even a nice Rose. If you purchase a bottle your tasting fee is waived which is always a great deal. We enjoyed ourselves so much we returned for the Alpine Block party event which included tastings at Stonum Vineyards and two other nearby wineries. This fun filled evening included live music, food trucks, and the Lodi Wine trolley shuttling you back & forth between the wineries. Definitely a good time! I highly recommend Stonum Vineyards & Tasting Room for great wine, friendly service and well coordinated, entertaining events.

I had driven by many times and it seemed like an appointment only place but I guess now they have enough staffing to open up the hours and days of the week. First, their reputation has always been very good. They've had some recognition from some reputable wine sources so I had very high expectations for the wine. In, short, the wines were very good. They had a nice selection from rose to the more Lodi styled red wines. I really did enjoy all the wines and the price point seems fair. I guess I was kinda hoping to meet the winemaker, learn more about their vineyards and purpose for growing certain varietals. When you get wine with a story it makes the experience that much more enjoyable. I really like this place and I'm hoping to make a stronger connection with the business since I consider myself an advocate for Lodi wines since my hobby is to compare our wines with the best out in the other regions of CA. Pretty heavy competition but so far Lodi is more than able to compete with certain types of wines aka Zinfandel, Tempranillo, Syrah and occasionally Cabernet.

Last weekend on a trip to Sacramento, I finally had a chance to stop by their Olive Mill and Winery. There is a nice sparking clean outdoor patio with picnic tables within a few steps from the olive oil grove but it was a bit hot that day so we opted to sit inside. In addition to the olive oil tasting set, there were some brunch items such as a crostini and salad as well as a Mediterranean plate with hummus. We opted for the crostini, olive oil tasting and a cappuccino. The jalapeño olive oil was unique and flavorful enough that we bought a couple bottles of it to take home. The pear vinaigrette was thick and tangy. The waitresses were friendly and helpful when we had a couple questions about the dishes. The shelves in the shop area is full of flavored olive oils and vinaigrette as well as ceramic and a whole slew of items for serving charcuterie. If you are a fan of olive oil and are planning on a trip up to Sacramento or Lake Tahoe, would definitely recommend stopping by to check out Calivirgin.

I could definitely see why they chose to be members of this place and I was so happy to have an afternoon with them here. The wine that we got the Sauvignon Blanc was definitely refreshing as it was a very hot day and even though we had a red not going to lie we put it on ice just for a little bit to get a little bit cooler and that definitely made it even more enjoyable. The interior is lovely with a beautiful scenic painting on the left wall. They sell cute Knickknacks for your home as well. The staff were super friendly and let us try their sparkling before committing to a bottle. The sparkling was crisp with flavor notes of apple and lemon. They were so friendly and fun, and knew how to engage with the crowd well! The selection of wines to pick from are slim and they don't come with a lot of descriptions either. The service is somewhat on the slower side as well, and the lines can get really long. I would recommend just getting a few bottles to share with your company instead of always having to go back and wait more than 10-15 minutes in the lines. The food is fast and doesn't seem to be made fresh. Moreso on the side of frozen foods, so don't come too hungry!
