I popped into Stama while out running errands. The grounds are quite big with a quaint outdoor seating area looking out at the vines. Nina was fantastic! She was the perfect energy for a tasting pop in! Friendly and knowledgeable. The 2018 Tipo Rosso Red Blend- I went home with a case on sale and the 2022 Cab Franc came home with me as well (this one being my favorite!) Had a chance to try out this winery this past weekend and absolutely loved it. This is a small boutique winery on the Lodi wine trail. The vibe gives off kinda a Tuscany feel to it. While the tasting room was very quaint the property itself is pretty expansive with a large outdoor rentable space for events. Service was top notch and the ladies working were absolutely amazing! Our whole group absolutely loved the wines and specially their reds so much so we ended up buying a case of their Curvaceous Cabernet. The only thing I would recommend for this place like others have added is some snacking items as when we got here later in the day it would've been nice to have something before dinner. Either way I would highly recommend a stop if you are making a wine tasting trip in this area. Bring some snacks and enjoy your time here. read more

I've been familiar with Stama wines since they were at the Vino Piazza out in Lockeford. At the time there were a lot of prominent wineries getting off the ground including the very successful Macchia winery. Stama was always on the radar as one of the better wineries and their success has led to the new winery at the current location. Their hospitality is a nice blend of expertise alongside a welcoming and relaxed experience. From what I can remember their Merlot was outstanding. I'll have to revisit soon to check some of their more current offerings. If you are visiting Lodi and need some local recommendations Stama is a great place to start. read more

I don't do a lot of wine tasting in Lodi simply because I was born and raised there, not because the wine isn't great but Stama is definitely a gem in Lodi. It offers a different varietal of wines from many of the other establishments in the area. First off the grounds are pretty and the buildings are architecturally pleasing, its like they've always been there (they haven't, I grew up literally across the road). We were given a warm greeting upon entering and given a list to choose from. I have hard time narrowing it down so the tasting room attendants were more than willing to make some suggestions. My friend and I also chose a few different ones so we could try each others. The wine is phenomenal. I also love the names of the wines, not your traditional serious industry names. They have a flair! When we were done I had a hard time choosing which ones to take home because I wanted a bottle of each but also knew I didn't need a bottle of each. They offered to give me a few re-visits which was nice and helped me make my final decisions to take home with me. read more

Stopped by for a quick wine tasting. $15 for the tasting of 5 wines. I really like how they set up the tasting and they offer a cheese and salami snack pack. Personally I did not care for the wines. Also wasn't a fan that you have to purchase 2 bottles of wines to get the tasting fee waived. Historically anywhere else it's only one bottle. The vibe also given wasn't that you could ask to try something else or revisit one. Also I would sit outside to do the tasting. The inside has a ton of gnats which put a damper on the tasting. We walked in Easter Sunday around 1:30pm. It wasn't busy at all. They have outdoor seating. We didn't want to be in the sun since there's no shade at the tables. We just stood at the indoor tables. There's no chairs. We got 3 flights. $15 for 5 wines of your choice. They even give a free cheese salami snack pack with your flight. Really wanted to like the wines, but they weren't to our taste. They had a variety of wines like sparkling, whites and reds. Very light tasting wines. The only wine that was ok was the Almond/brut. It has flavor but a bit sweet. The Curvaceous red blend & Cabernet franc were tannic. We prefer bold, fruity, and smooth wines. Looks like you can bring outside food here. read more

Went to Stama for the first time this week and had the pleasure of tasting with Emma, she was very professional, sweet and helpful. Their tastings are $15 per person, if you buy 2 bottles that fee is waived. Each tasting comes with salami and cheese which is such a bonus and a nice treat to balance out the wine. This winery is simple yet elegant, makes for a more personal experience. The wines a delicious, I will say I stuck to reds for my tasting. However, Emma treated us to some rose and brut to try with the wafers they sell there, I bought all three boxes along with an amazing smelling candle they had (Mediterranean fig). I highly recommend this winery if you're in the Lodi area for tasting. read more

Stama winery is one I've visited a few times while in Lodi. They are offering a ten dollar flight that comes with 5 pours of your choice, a Stama wine glass, and a snack pack of salami and cheese which was greatly appreciated! The price is also right and the wines are fantastic. My favorite was the zany zin. The grounds are gorgeous and I regret not taking more pictures. Another bonus is that they are dog friendly!!! I recommend checking this place out! Only critique is when I asked for water they brought one for my group, but for other groups brought several bottles over, but a very small thing to critique. Plus they let you keep the glass and provide a small plate of salami and cheese. Prices of the wines are reasonable. My favorites are: 2017 Chardonnay. Intense complex white flowers , pear, and honeydew melon with a hint of French soak. 2018 Cabernet Franc. French oak holds cherry notes with caramel & vanilla. 2016 Curvaceous Cab. We stopped by this winery during the Wine & Chocolate Event, Feb. 13 & 14, 2016. Everything about this winery was great. First of all, they had a lot of wines to taste, and they were all really good! We ended up buying the Zin. The wines were also very reasonable in price. The service was fantastic! Although it was a busy weekend, the servers were friendly and efficient. I do not know what took me so long to finally visit Stama Winery in the Lodi Wine Region. This large and attractive winery is located on the west side of Lodi between Highway 99 and Interstate 5 near Turner & Davis Roads. Parking is abundant for cars and limos. The tasting room is nice with a modern rustic feel with a huge ceiling and a nice Mediterranean look and feel. The tasting bar is a little small for the room which could be a challenge during peak times, although I had the place to myself near closing. The staff were great and offered me their list with a nice sample of savory crackers for snacking. The wine was decent for the area. Most of the reds were designed for a wide audience with a lot of Bordeaux styles favored by most wine tourists. Fortunately the wine is a good value at the price point. The winery also has some outdoor seating to enjoy the weather and look for the occasional jackrabbit. Stama Winery is a solid option in Lodi even though they lack some of the more aggressive local styles. Their winery will appeal to nearly everyone with a beautiful setting and good wine selection. read more

The gals here are so friendly. Was happy to find Stama open on Christmas Eve day for a few hours. Not only highly rated on yelp, but also open!! My brother and I both bought a bottle each, and I also added in a bottle of this incredible olive oil that was brought back from Greece. The property is gorgeous as well. This is my absolute favorite winery in the Lodi region. This is THE place to go if you love bold reds. I've purchased one of every red they have here on at least one occasion and look forward to to doing so again in the future. Opening up a bottle of Stama wine at home is a real treat; they are all amazing and never disappoint. At most wineries I visit I usually only really love 2-3 of their wines. At Stama I love ALL of theirs. I took friends here who felt the same. The people who work here are SO down to earth, knowledgeable and friendly, and they are generous with letting you sample different types of wines. The grounds are small but absolutely gorgeous. The tasting room hosts was very nice, and the owner was there "Guss" he's not very friendly and his energy kind of killed the experience. The standard list of wines to taste was a whopping 12 wines for 5 bucks. 5 more to taste a few more dessert wines. All of them were pretty good. I was particularly fond of their rose of zin, and the 2009 merlot was also crazy good, but everything was at least good. A number of great wines were as cheap as $14! We were here Sunday morning, had the place completely to ourselves, so that was fun too. This was on my "if we have time" list, but I'm glad we had time - in the future, this'll be on my "check first" list. read more

I will say, every wine I tasted at Stama Winery I wanted to buy. 2007 Chardonnay - Smooth and tastey 2006 Merlot - amazingly smooth, rich but not over powering. Every person in our party bought a bottle. A great crowd pleaser. 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon - peppery but not over powering 2005 Syrah -smooth but not too tanniny or too fruity Yes, I used smooth to describe all these wines but it was the first thing I thought of when drinking them. It was so easy to drink these wines. And for the sale price of $10/bottle for a mix case, I bought every one of them. Also extremely good were the 2005 Curvaceous Cabernet, the 2005 Proprietor's Reserve Zinfandel, and the AMAZING 2007 Zany Zinfandel. If Stama is on the label, I will drink it. Wine is in the proprietor's blood, his parents made wine in Greece, he's making it in Lodi, his son is working with him in the vineyard. Visit Gus!!!! read more

This was the second stop on our wine tasting trip to Lodi. There were not a ton of wineries open on New Year's Eve so we appreciate that they decided to open their tasting room. The tasting room is inside of a large building with one of the largest sets of doors that I have ever seen. The doors maybe raised my expectations to high though as the inside of the tasting room seemed fairly run-of-the-mill. The tasting fee at Stama is $5. There was only one other couple in the tasting room, so our pourer spent plenty of time talking to us about the wines. She also poured cups of water for us, gave us Gardettos to snack on, and gave us a piece of acai chocolate to pair with one of the wines. While the service was great, we weren't super impressed with any of the wines. One of the Cabs that I tried was straight-up awful, like "something had gone wrong in the winemaking process" bad. That's just my opinion though. While we probably wouldn't go back to Stama, I think their excellent service and beautiful grounds make this place worth visiting. read more

The wines are great and reasonably priced, and the employees are great. We were going to join this winery because they have great serving room staff. We had signed up for a membership, when the owner decided that despite signing up for a membership he still wanted to charge the tasting fee, after we had walked outside. The winery OWNER lost a long term customer, for a short term profit. We decided not to go through with the membership. The deciding factor was the owner's rudeness to his employee (for following protocol that all winery's I've been to in the Lodi region follow) in getting mad at her for trying to charge the reasonable 1 tasting fee for our group or three considering we had joined.. 5/5 stars for the employees! They are great! 1/5 stars for the owners! The older gentleman whose family started the winery is only a detriment to his own business at this point! Stay home, and let your staff handle things! I won't be back so long as the owner is involved in day to day business! read more

We were RVing in Lodi in November 2020, looking for an open winery tasting room (most were closed due to Covid) when we found Stama as a drive-by; they were open for business. "Crystal" was our hostess and pourer, and she was great. We were the only ones there at the time. She was very positive, attentive, kept our glasses full, and was very knowledgeable about Stama's wines. All their wines were Estate wines, and were clear, clean, with great Zins and Cabs.
