Had such a blast here yesterday! The pours were generous, the wine was great, and there were the cutest puppies!!! This place has a very relaxed feel to it, I will definitely be coming back! read more

Started off my wine tasting here at Macchia and it was by far the best winery I visited that day. All their wines were so exceptional. The Devious & Flirtatious were my 2 favorites so glad I am able to get this wine shipped to my home. read more

This is a gem in the Lodi region for sure. A must for all wine enthusiasts. We joined the wine club and couldn't be happier with the great service and wine selections. I was raised close to the Napa Valley and have to say that the wines at Macchia exceeded my expectations. We had a feeling of family during our visit which is hard to match. read more

The tasting room staff were so rude! Especially the girl with blonde hair and bags. I think she is related to the owners because at one point she started shouting "mom!" across the room. Totally unfriendly and made for such an uncomfortable wine tasting experience. There was also a man with a hat that was rude on on the computer the whole time. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. The wine isn't good enough to make up for Debbie downer and creepy hat guy. read more

I HAD THE WORST EXPERIENCE EVER AT THIS WINERY!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! THE WORST!! They have a 2013 "Delicious" Barbera that I had tasted a few months back and loved. Unfortunately, wine doesn't last in my house and I wanted more. I visited the winery two more times and was disappointed when I was told they were no longer selling it. To my surprise, I found on their website a few weeks later they were again selling the 2013 "Delicious" Barbera! I immediately bought six bottles on-line and went to their location to pick them up. When I received my order, I noticed they gave me the 2014 Barbera instead of the 2013. I asked one of the employees, who I later found out was the owner's wife, if the 2013 was not available. She said it was available and went out the door to retrieve it. When I got home, I opened the bottle and to my surprise, it didn't taste quite right. When I asked my friends to try it they smelled the wine and told me that it had turned. At this point, I had opened a second bottle after throwing the first bottle out. When I called Macchia the next day to ask to be reimbursed, I was completely taken aback by the response I got. Instead of an apology, I was told that since I "insisted" on the 2013 instead of taking the 2014, I got what I asked for. I was also told that it was unknown why the owner sold me the 2013 since they were not offering it because "it was bad". What? I drove an hour from my home to buy bad wine?!! I immediately drove there and demanded my money back for the six bottles. The woman who spoke to me over the phone, immediately knew who I was and again repeated that I insisted on buying the wine and that I got what I paid for. What?!! I insisted on buying bad wine??!! WTF!!?? Instead of a return receipt for my order, I was handed a receipt for a sangiovese that I had previously ordered but was too upset to realize that I was duped again. When I got home I immediately emailed Macchia and asked for a receipt for the return. A man by the name of Josh responded to my email by stating they were reimbursing me for the 5 bottles I returned. Apparently they decided not to reimburse me for the 6th bad bottle of wine because I threw it out. I was fine with that and am completely done with this winery!! read more

First to let you know the only reason I am giving Macchia 3 stars is because they are so RUDE! There wine is fantastic but this is no excuse to act this way. Today was there spring release party quite crowded paid our $10 told we could get lunch or glass of wine we had had lunch so decided on wine being I know there wine well ( I'm a club member) I asked for a glad of serious the gal there very rudely informed me that it is $12 a glass if member if not $17 or would give us the $5 off ( price to get in) told her fine and pd the $14 my husband decided he would purchase 2 cases wine as they were giving 35% off bought 1 case serious 1 case mixed had same gal wait on us argued with us being members as she spelled our last name wrong answered phone while waiting on us and served other people mind you we purchased $650 of wine and she couldn't even smile or say thank you as I said if I didn't love this wine would not go here. Hey Macchia try smiling and at least pretending you like your job!I read more

Last weekend was my very first trip to Lodi to go wine tasting. Friends had told me how awesome the wineries were down there, but just never found the time to make the trip. I'm big on red wines, and Lodi is supposed to be the perfect climate for reds, especially Zins. Macchia had a fun vibe to it that none of the neighboring wineries really had. It's in an old craftsman type house- super funky and cute. The first thing that made me want to come back were the staff- they were super excited to talk about the wine with you and let you roam around while they brought the tastings to you. There's a reason why they're so confident in their wine- it's heaven to your taste buds! There wasn't one wine I tried that I didn't love! In the end it was challenging to choose just one to take home (I was on a tight budget) but I ended up choosing Amorous. By the way, they have great names for their wines! read more

Skip it! It is a bit out if the way and definitely not worth it! Was looking forward to it as another winery with some really good wines had recommended it. Husband and I didn't care for any of the wines. This was supposed to be our last stop but we couldn't end the day here after tasting at some other great wineries. Two other favorite wineries were Klinker Brick and Harney Lane. Do not waste your time here! read more

I have visited the winery on numerous of occasions...and like all things, some times where better than others..however after the experience I had recently during wine & chocolate weekend, I will NEVER go back. The lack of professionalism and frankly utter rudeness of certain members of the staff still have me reeling. It is very unfortunate that in this day and age..the color of someones skin makes you privy to things that you HOPED no longer existed..but unfortunately still do. I am extremely saddened by my recent experience.. and since the lack of TOTAL DISREGARD I was given when I asked to speak with the manager to voice my distaste, there is no turning back..I am appalled at how I was treated and it makes me truly regret ever patronizing here and wine tasting and definitely buying bottles of previously, but that is ok, I belong to several other wine clubs and am treated superbly! I will take my money elsewhere..where my hard earned dollar where the color of my skin is not an issue...unfortunately Macchia is not one of them. read more

I wanna give this place a good review because it's a small family winery that makes good wine, but my interactions with the folks who work there have been mixed. I'm a local resident who often takes friends and family from out of town on wine tasting tours and this place isn't exactly at the top of my list. It's rather unimpressive as facilities go and the people who work there seem to be going through the motions and only interested in serving people who buy lots of wine. Rob, a pourer, is kind of creepy around the women who've I've brought around. He actually started flirting in a cheesy way with the women in my group till he saw they were with some men. Weird and unprofessional. read more

The winery is lovely. The experience, not so much. Owner was very rude to vendors displaying items for their release event on 5/3 and 5/4. Left a very bad impression so no one wanted to buy their wine. This is not how you attract customers. Too many other fine wineries in the area who DO treat their customers and vendors with respect. read more

So skip the wine tasting cuz this is not what Macchia is about. Simply order the wines and have them shipped. This place produces INCREDIBLE wines from both Lodi and Amador fruit. Zin, Petite Sirrah, and Barbera. The wine is simply outstanding and a gem of the central valley. Making a good if not great wine from Amador fruit is a challenge, yet the Linstead Zin is just incredible. I cannot say enough good things about Macchia. Save your gas and travel time and hole up at Wine and Roses in Lodi. Hands down, the best wine maker in the Lodi and Amador region. Most if not all of these wines are on par or better with Napa wines. This is the secret spot not to be missed. Call the winery, order six bottles of mixed reds, go to your happy place and partake of goodness. Then post your rating on Yelp. Wine tasting is basically a joke and a waste of time. So all the reviews about the winery and the tasting room....... get a life. Carly K. you got it right! Read the rest of my reviews. I am not a shill for any business. Macchia ROCKS!!!! read more

My husband and I love this Winery. Macchia is the only wine club we belong to because their wines are never disappointing. The only reason I did not give them 5 stars is because I have had very rude service by one of the girls behind the counter a couple of times. I believe she is the daughter. I brought my cousin with me to pick up my wine, she was from Pittsburg PA., which does not allow wine to be shipped to the state. While she was tasting the wines she mentioned this problem and was asked why was she even there, and her questions were given one word answers. I was giving this experience up as she was having a bad day. I brought another friend who was visiting the area a couple weeks later and had the same girl behind the counter. We interupted her redecorating which she let us know she was not happy about it. On the upside I brought another friend when it was time to pick up my club wine, and was greeted by a different girl behind the counter. She was awesome! She answered all my friends questions. She was a lot of fun to talk to and was very knowledgeable about the wines. When we left she had nothing but good to say about the experience. The owners are awesome and will come out and talk to you when they are there. We look forward to the wine release parties because they are a whole lotta fun. read more

Definitely not worth it! Wines are unremarkable (there are so many better wineries in the Lodi area!) and the service is terrible. Very rude, slow, and uninformative. I almost always buy wine when I taste and I couldn't get out of Macchia fast enough. Worst wine-tasting experience from Sonoma to the Alsace. read more

This winery was indeed like going to someone's house and hanging out which included two boxer (dogs). Actually it felt like a house in Santa Cruz, Bonny Doon or Capitola. Even had a redwood tree in the front. Odd thing was the smell in the tasting room. It was reminiscent of that Boulder Creek, hippie vibe culture smelling of incense-may be better if they baked a loaf of fresh bread in their kitchen? (since it is a house) and used the little cubes of Italian bread to cleanse the pallet between their 10 tastes of delicious wines. I do remember my favorite was called "Serious", but I enjoyed all since none were bad. They name all their wines with an "ous" like Amorous, Ambitious etc. They are mostly Zinfandel from around the different local areas where the grapes are grown(which Lodi is known for great Zin) and the prices are competitive around $24 a bottle. I liked the fact you can bring your picnic basket and buy a bottle- go enjoy the oasis type grounds and relax in a big portly wood swing by the bocce ball court. Come check it out. The eclectic Italian winery with sub culture. read more

Really enjoyed my experience there. I would give the wine itself 5 stars. Especially loved the Sangiovese. Was even better at home with food. The staff was very nice. The man who poured clearly loves his job and couldn't have been nicer. I did feel a slight lack of personal attention. I should also say I love how they converted an old home into this really nice wine tasting room. read more

Visited the winery 11-11-2018. Drove up from San Jose area specifically to visit this winery seeking to repurchase the Late Harvest Zin Flirtatious. I had purchased a few times in the past without issues. (not a member) We were told we had to be members to purchase this wine (though purchased in the past). My relatives with me are "In the business" meaning working at other wineries and presented their business card. Still we were refused the ability to purchase. We were told come back next week (yeah I'm going to drive back up) and the wine would be available to the public. So, I thought this was pretty bad manners that we drove specifically for this wine and were in the wine business and were told to come back next week. They definitely lost customers and will lose customers when someone asks about them. I wonder what the owner would have thought had they known the situation? If it were me, and a customer drove such a distance because they liked my wine, member or not, he would get his wine and hopefully a membership either then or later. A good relation or sale is worth 100 times the value of sending a disgruntled customer away. It only takes one person to say don't go there for the winery to lose a potential sale. We only found one of the wines we tasted that day that any of us liked. But because of how we were treated we left a tip and left the place to Abundance Winery where I am a member where we purchased 8 bottles of wine because we liked the wine. We got there at 4:30 and they let us taste. Very friendly place! read more

I am a wine club member who is interested in canceling for some time. The only reason why I became a member is because I was told that wine tasting will be for members only and will never be sold in stores (since that time, Macchia is now sold in stores). I agree with most of the reviews prior, their customer service is very poor. They are very rude and only give you any attention when you tell them you are a memeber. There are so many other wineries in Lodi that offer better customer service, I would save Macchia for the last. read more

First time here with a large group and it was awkward from the beginning. We parked and weren't really sure which way to go even with a sign up front so we walked down a path that lead to a few stairs. Having a baby with us we had to carry the stroller up while holding on to our Husky (who was on a leash might I add). Immediately we were approached by a woman saying "your dog must be on a leash so he doesn't scare other dogs".... umm yeah hello to you too and thank you for welcoming us to your winery! Oh and yeah he's already on a leash but thanks for the info. Come to find out later that they themselves have 2 dogs that are just roaming around unleashed. Anyway... we walked down to their outside bar and asked for a tasting for 7 and once we got our first pour we all sat at a huge table directly in front of the bar thinking the bar isn't big enough to occupy 7 adults, a stroller and a dog and we'll make way for other people this way. There were a couple small bowls of crackers and whatnot at the bar so my husband picked one up and put it on our table to munch on while we had our tastings. To my shock a few moments later I see a lady walk over to our table and take the bowl back to the bar. I looked around to figure out what was happening and another woman behind the bar looked at us and said these are for palette changing and have to be at the bar.... ummm ok we don't need a palette change or anything. It's a small bowl of munchies for God's sake don't put your customers on the spot and embarrass them! We finished our first pour and waited around and made eye contact to see if they'd pour it at the table but nope nothing, they didn't even bother to say you have to come get your next tastings at the bar. We hung around awkwardly and different members of our group walked up to the bar at different times to get their next pour until most of us were done. The feeling was awkward for all of us and we just wanted to pay and leave. Of course we found out that the tasting was free but our group tipped more than they would've charged us anyway. The atmosphere here was okay but the customer service was non-existent and therefore we will never be back. We're not wine snobs but this was definitely not our first wine tasting trip. We've done tastings up and down California and have experienced wonderful customer service in Napa, Solvang, Temecula and even Lodi... unfortunately this place earned a big fat zero in our opinion. read more

Took a bus load of people to Macchia on a Wednesday, usually a closed day for them. We arrived early as our first winery visit fell through. They were so accomodating. We did a very leisurely tasting of 8 of their lovely red wines as red is all that they do. We had Sangiovese, Barbera, and Zinfandel. They draw fruit from Lodi and Amador. Lani, one of the owners, her cousin Monica, and her daughter Tanya (due any day now with twins) worked our crowd. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch in their beautiful setting, along with being able to talk about the wines, the facility, and the family. Weather was wonderful and Macchia took what started out to be a bummer of a day and made it one of the most pleasant we've had on our trips. Our community is from Manteca and many joined the club, were already club members, or vowed to return again and again with friends and relatives. I gave this review the fifth star because the owner/employees bent over backwards to accomodate us and made us feel extremely welcome. read more
