Three meat shawarma and taro puffs - all superb.
    Terry B.

I have been a fan of shawarma for decades. Usually I found it near NYU in the village. The best places had real lamb meat on a spit and sliced off generous hunks to be sauteed with onion and added to a pita. Then it was drowned in tzaziki sauce and handed to me. This is a different kind of shawarma but equally wonderful. The taro puffs were a standout. I hope they will change their minds and add lamb to the mix. Good lamb is very hard to find around here, even at Greek restaurants. Highly recommended!

Anxiously waited for this place to open. I was so excited to try it. Unfortunately it was not a good experience from start to finish. The cashier, was just plugging whatever order he wanted, even if you repeated yourself several times. There was no itemized receipt given to even know if your order was placed right. We had to go back and reorder our sides and drinks even though we had repetitively told him what we wanted. When we got the bill and were waiting for our order, we did the math and was like wait this doesn't add up to what we actually ordered. The woman in the back was irritated and berated the cashier within viewing of walkins. They had alot of family friends of the place sitting at tables hanging out not eating, that we didn't have a place to sit and eat. So we took it to go. Which in hindsight, i wish weren't forced to because one bite, and it was completely inedible, i probably would've asked for a refund. It was so salty my face twitched trying to eat it. We tried all three varieties. The chicken, pork, and beef. All of them were so salty. My ears were ringing the rest of the day and i feel so sick from it. We really did try to give it a chance. But trying each one, and none being edible was disappointing, especially for the price. For transparency on what to expect for the toppings, they only offered mayo and ketchup, and choice of lettuce, tomato, and onion. But to be honest, it doesn't matter what you say you actually want because they just do and put whatever they feel like in it. They have potential of being decent if they lower the sodium significantly and listen to what the customer is saying rather then jumping the gun. It's a unique food choice for long island eateries. So i hope they improve.

This place is awesome! The food quality is just perfect. The portion sizes are large which match their pricing. The family who owns and runs it are so nice! They are also open late which has proven to be helpful on more than one occasion l.

I went here for a late dinner after a work event with some of my colleagues. The lady at the cash register was charismatic, friendly, & helpful. I got the beef sharma meal w/french fries & a brisk tea. I thought the price was great, especially since they had a 20% discount to honor their recent opening. The shawarma was very big & filling. I loved the sauce & the meat was tasty too. I will say the French fries were too salty though, I couldn't even finish them. Inside there's limited seating but there are about 6 or 8 chairs & 4 tables. We had no problem eating in when we went & they had a TV playing America's Got Talent on tv for entertainment.

Food was ok - and just ok - I ordered the chicken shawarma platter and I had to LOOK for the chicken. I will go somewhere else next time.

The flavor was good but my chicken had a lot of gristle and there wasn't enough chicken in my shawarma.

Delicious pork schwarma. Very friendly service. There are a few small tables for dining. Will definitely go back to try the other schwarmas.

When we sat down, we were served pita and tzatziki sauce. It was good! We ordered off of the lunch special. I had the Kubideh Kabab and my friend had the boneless chicken Kabab. The kababs were not dried out and they were very tasty, well seasoned, and not salty! With the lunch special, you get a choice of lentil soup or salad. I went with the soup and I'm glad I did! It really hit the spot since I haven't been feeling very good lately. We shared an appetizer of falafels. To be honest, it was a bit too dry for me. The service was great and our waitress was very nice. She gave us plenty of time to look at the menu and order. The restaurant is quiet overall but there isn't a lot of seating available. There's a shared parking lot but it's crowded. The food was amazing but I don't like looking for parking when I'm hungry. Just kidding. I'll stop by again!

Similarly, the brook trout was very thin, but tasty. We enjoyed the yellow lentil soup (du jour), but we've had better. Bottom line, food is still good, sometimes very good, just not great.

The restaurant is beautiful, stark white and ocean blue decor line the walls and give such a clean, oceanside feeling, despite being just off of Hempstead Tpke. It's spacious with a beautiful bar and plenty of tables. I enjoyed a crisp Aperol spritz, and they give complimentary pita that is warm and a dip to start. For the first course I had the patzaria, and they were some of the best beets I ever had, and the skordalia (garlic and almond spread) was the best compliment of flavors. The main was a showstopper. A beautiful whole branzino, perfectly filleted with lemon and capers was expertly cooked, refreshing and delicious! It came with a side of lemony potatoes but I also ordered the broccoli rabe with garlic and feta and was not disappointed. For dessert I had the cheesecake, which is absolutely made in house and creamy and rich. I forgot to take a picture I was so excited to enjoy it! If you're looking for authentic Greek flavors, a beautiful atmosphere and 5 star service, Philia is the place to go. Good job guys.

Wow. What a find…read more First of all, the decor is beautiful: open spaces, super clean with plenty of seating. Service is smart and friendly. Everything we ordered was exceptional. We shared the cold dip sampler (taramasalata, babaganoush, tzatziki) and crispy eggplant and zucchini chips. Highly recommend both...the picky eater at the table (who literally eats no vegetables) couldn't stop eating the chips. Rave reviews of the Alaskan halibut and the pork chop. I had the Rocca avocado salad with grilled chicken. Again-excellent! Dessert? Chocolate mousse and custard - I tasted both and loved each option. The mousse was somehow rich, dark...yet "light" at the same time. The custard was warm and had a thin layer of phyllo dough with a drizzle of honey sauce. We arrived when it wasn't too busy on a week night; I'd recommend reservations on weekends. I'll definitely be back!

We started out strong with the crusty bread and feta spread (complimentary), but moving on from there everything was just mediocre. The spanakopita was tasty and I like the bigger chunks of spinach and feta, but the phyllo was soggy. The fried eggplant/zucchini crisp were fried well, but the seasoning wasn't distributed well. Some pieces were heavily seasoned and others were bland. The sauce was just ok, and for the price the portion was small compared to other Greek restaurants. We ordered a whole sea bass with lots of sides ( Horta, Orzo, and Greek Fries). The fish came out looking pretty promising, and it was fresh, but was sorely overcooked. For the price charged, and for a Greek restaurant, I expected the fish to be on point. While studded with capers, the fish was also under seasoned so you were forced to use the weak beurre blanc. I would have much preferred some good olive oil, salt, and herbs. The orzo in tomato sauce was tasty but tasted like an Italian dish. The Greek fries came out and to our surprise had no feta on it. I've personally never had Greek fries that came without feta. They were more Belgium styled fries, dusted with oregano and other dried herbs. It was fine, but just not Greek fries. The Horta was fresh but like the appetizer, the seasoning wasn't well distributed. There were pockets with lots of salt and while other bites landed bland. We walked out with a $170 check, ordering one beer and soda. For that kind of price, the food was not up to par with upscale Greek places. In short, Plori is just really overpriced mid Greek style food. I much rather hit up Astoria for some good Greek cuisine, or go down the street to Tasty Greek for some kebabs. Yes, the ambience was nice, but the price is just outrageous for what we had. PS the valet is also a scam. We tipped the man and he simply handed us our car keys and had us pick up our own car. Why do valet in a small lot if you're not going to valet my car? So odd, but I guess it's on brand with the restaurant. Lots of show, poor execution.

I opted to order a cheesesteak with extra hot sauce and fries very crispy. Now I did notate this in the special instructions and also requested some sauces and told them this was my first time trying this, with that being said they did EXACTLY what I asked, so I would assume that the service here is great. The cheesesteak was perfection, the sub was very soft and perfectly held together the deliciously cooked cheesesteak which had the perfect amount of cheese and peppers in it. The fries remained crispy even after being delivered to me. The picture I'm including of the fries is after someone took a HUGE HANDFUL out so that means the portions for the fries was HUGE. The cheesesteak portion was the perfect amount of meat to bread ratio. Everything being said, this place was delicious. I would love to try everything on their menu.
