So many good things to say about Philia. Stopped by the other day to try their $25 lunch special, and can't wait to go back. The restaurant is beautiful, stark white and ocean blue decor line the walls and give such a clean, oceanside feeling, despite being just off of Hempstead Tpke. It's spacious with a beautiful bar and plenty of tables. I enjoyed a crisp Aperol spritz, and they give complimentary pita that is warm and a dip to start. For the first course I had the patzaria, and they were some of the best beets I ever had, and the skordalia (garlic and almond spread) was the best compliment of flavors. The main was a showstopper. A beautiful whole branzino, perfectly filleted with lemon and capers was expertly cooked, refreshing and delicious! It came with a side of lemony potatoes but I also ordered the broccoli rabe with garlic and feta and was not disappointed. For dessert I had the cheesecake, which is absolutely made in house and creamy and rich. I forgot to take a picture I was so excited to enjoy it! A recommended restaurant by a friend of a friend. It is a great place to be. Our dining experience was top notch. I love Mediterranean food so the moment I knew we are going here, I started getting excited. The place is so neat and clean. Blue and white colors vibes are simply charming, pristine and relaxing. Service is on point. All we requested either water or tablewares were given. They made sure they spaced out the servings of our drinks to appetizers down to main entree and dessert. Grilled Pita was served as a starter. The ladies had aperol spritz for drinks and the guys settled for sodas. We ordered grilled octopus for our appetizer. All of these placed our mood in really good level. Then the entrees arrived. I have a good word for heir branzino with lemon potatoes as side. The pairing is just perfect. The best branzino I had. It was cooked just right, not overdone nor undercooked. My three companions enjoyed their respective order...shrimp kebab , chicken kebab and fish and chips. I suggested to my friend to try Greek coffee and glad she enjoyed its taste. Strong but suave as she described it. We tried the regular coffee on the other hand. Our night ended with their popular sweets - galacto burreco( custard) & portokolapita- orange cakes with chocolate toppings. Heavenly deliciousness. Arriving for a 7pm reservation on a Friday night, the place was packed. Walking on there is no hostess, so you need to wait for one of th waiters to catch their breath and help you. The staff is friendly, but a bit overwhelmed. We waited about 29 minutes for our table but it was waiting for us. We started off with the assortment of Green dups and all were wonderful, as was the warm pita that was served along with them. The bronzino, served whole and deboned, was fresh and delicious. Served with a side of lemon potatos, everything was seasoned perfectly. Everyone loved their entrees and servings were plentiful. Went with another couple and we were pleasantly surprised by the ambience. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Overall the food was delicious. We tried the Greek salad and octopus for appetizer. The octopus was a fav for everyone. We were also given hummus and pita bread. Note the Greek salad doesn't come with lettuce as you may see in other places. For dinner we had the branzino, shrimp & rice dish, and NY strip. The baklava is huge so can be shared. The cheesecake was delicious. Overall thumbs up and look forward to coming back. read more

We stumbled into this awesome Greek restaurant as my friend chose this elegant place for a mini celebration. Car parking was easy as they have enough car parking in front of their restaurant The restaurant has a beautiful, cozy and inviting atmosphere. I have noticed that they have a formal table arrangement, abundant in wine glasses, classy, have white linen table cloths and dark-colored linen napkins all around. The whole atmosphere was elegant, classy and spotless. The staff were dressed properly ( white polo shirt with dark colored pants and vest). Staff were warm, friendly, welcoming and very professional. We ordered our drinks first, Aperol spritz for the ladies and Diet Coke for the men. The aperol spritz was bittersweet, citrusy, and refreshing, with a zesty, bubbly finish according to my wife. The wait staff was kind enough to give us more than enough time to decide our appetizer and entrees. Service was not rushed, it was in a good pacing. As a starter we were given complimentary pita bread with a mashed eggplant dip. The appetizer that we ordered was the flame-grilled octopus, it was succulent and tender, was a standout, my friend loved it so much. As our entree, we opted a branzino, Garides kebab, fish and chips and a chicken kebab. The lean white fish was moist tender, The grilled marinated shrimp was tender, smoky, charred exterior, which has a distinct marinade, bright, citrusy, and herbaceous blend. The tender, juicy kebab chicken has a zesty and aromatic marinade. When you come here you will expect fresh, authentic Mediterranean and Greek cuisine. The staff service was impeccable and outstanding. We finished the night with two amazing desserts, the portokalopita and a galacktoboureko, both tasted great but I prefer the portokalopita. While this is not a discount restaurant, I feel the quality of the food and service provides good value. The establishment is definitely recommendable for family and friends celebrating or dating and impressing your wife or a girlfriend. This was a good night for all of us. read more

I received my order of Bronzino as well as fish and chips in a timely fashion. The food was still hot and I was very thankful for that. Unfortunately, the food did not meet the standards that I thought it was going to meet my brain signal lacked flavor, although drenched in a lemon sauce that tasted like lemon and olive oil and nothing else. I literally had to season the fish and put it back in the air fryer to get a nice crisp on it as I like. The fish and chips had a strong odor. The order was like a beer batter but the beer I don't know it smelled kind of moldy all in all I would not order from here again I placed this order based off of someone else's review where they said it was the best Bronzino they've ever tasted. I don't know where they are getting their Bronzino from because this is far from the best brand you know I've ever tasted it and I love Bronzino. Today we decided to try this new local restaurant. Had walked by a few times and it was nicely remodeled. We should have gone sooner it's a hidden gem. The service is above and beyond. We ended up sitting at the bar, which was fine, but if you have a reservation and they're packed - good luck. We split a bunch of apps. The octopus was incredible. The shrimp was huge and just okay. The bacon was fine but a little fat and chewy. The service can be slow, even at the bar. It seems like there's a lot going on all at once. The margaritas were good and they had one Greek beer that I like. On the TV was Food Network in Spanish which was funny when we were in an otherwise full out Greek restaurant. Prices are fair. Made 6pm reservations on monday for a party of 7 . When we arrived, there were two other big tables(party of 10 & 8) there and two small ones we saw the open table which we figured must be ours, and we waited for somebody to greet us. We quickly realized there was only 1 server 1 bus boy and what seemed like 1 cook in the kitchen. We felt bad asking for drinks & more pita (small basket for 7 people went fast ) a few times . NOW the food is incredible and everyone loved all the apps and main courses we got . But sadly 2.5 hours for dinner (no dessert) is a little too long and not getting the service you would expect. We had made reservations and most likely so did the other tables and I don't know why they wouldn't have extra help /servers on . Our food also came out at different times so even though plates came out hot and fresh we eventually told others to eat before it got cold . Philia has a lot of charm and delivers a solid Greek dining experience overall. From the moment we arrived, the bartender and our waiter were excellent--very professional, friendly, and attentive, which really set the tone for the evening. The Greek salad was fresh and flavorful, and we loved that they served tzatziki sauce on the house with warm pita bread--a nice and authentic touch. The saganaki was not only delicious but also cut in front of us by the server, which really elevated the presentation and added a personal, interactive touch to the experience. One standout dish was the calamari, which they offer either fried or grilled--just like I had in Greece. I went with the grilled version and it was cooked perfectly. Also, the hand-cut fries served with the burger were a great bonus--crispy and clearly made from scratch. A couple of downsides: the busboy and the water server kept giving us dirty looks and even gossiped near our table, which felt awkward and unprofessional. Also, while the food was good, the portion sizes felt a bit small for the price, and serving soft drinks in cans instead of fountain isn't ideal--though not a dealbreaker. All in all, Philia is worth visiting for its authentic Greek flavors and standout service from the bartender and main waitstaff. Philia is a small spot--kind of hard to find if you're not familiar with the area--nonetheless, Philia gives you the best of "Mediterranean" food with a Steakhouse touch. I took my cousin to Philia today for lunch. Don't let the strip mall fool you. The place was very pretty , very clean and the service was exceptional. It was a price fixed lunch for 24.95 three courses. The courses were abundant in choice and everything was excellent. We shared the fried calamari, which was tender and crispy and a very tasty salad. For entrée we had Bronzino, which was huge and delicious with a little caper butter sauce and we also had a shrimp dish with risotto. Also equally delicious. The portions were huge and then for dessert we had baklava homemade and delicious. I recommend this restaurant go before it's packed only open for two months and it was fabulous. Try it. z read more

I made this reservation for 6 people on a Saturday night at 7 pm. From the moment we were seated (on time) to the last scrumptious dessert, every dish was truly fantastic. A Hidden Gem for Greek Cuisine! We went to PHILIA for the first time tonight, and what a lovely surprise! It's a charming little spot that I actually discovered right here on Yelp. I had no idea it even existed, despite passing nearby many times. It's tucked away just off Hempstead Turnpike, easy to miss but definitely worth finding. They offer a prix fixe menu for $34.95 on certain days, and since we arrived before 6 PM, we were able to take advantage of its a great value for a three-course meal. To start, they brought us warm, soft pitas with incredibly creamy hummus. For appetizers, I chose the Greek salad, which was super fresh, the tomatoes were deep red and flavorful, not bland or mealy like you often get. My friend had the spanakopita, which was golden and crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. A generous portion, too! I will get that for myself next time. For the main course, I ordered the branzino, which came whole, beautifully presented with a flower garnish and served with lemon potatoes. Everything was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My friend had the salmon, and she really enjoyed her dish as well. Dessert was a choice between baklava and Greek yogurt cheesecake, so naturally we tried both--no regrets. Both were absolutely delicious. The service was excellent. The staff was attentive without being intrusive, frequently refilling our water glasses and checking in. I appreciated that they gave us the option to pack up our leftovers ourselves or have them do it. I also had a glass of Pinot Noir that I wish I had asked the name of, it was that good. Amazing pre-concert dinner near Jones Beach Theater! Super convenient, right off the parkway and easy to hop back on the road. The watermelon salad was so refreshing with feta, the lamb chops were tender and perfectly seasoned, the broccoli rabe with feta was a fabulous side, and the salmon was cooked to perfection and just how I ordered.
