But the food didn't really live up to the setting or price point. Considering there are quite a few Persian restaurants on Long Island, the dishes felt underwhelming in comparison, especially the meats, which came across as lacking depth of flavor and didn't stand out the way you'd expect given the cost. One thing I also found annoying was how the rice was served in a separate bowl next to the kebab--it made the whole thing kind of awkward to eat and less enjoyable than if it had been plated together. That said, the ice cream was actually really good and probably the strongest part of the meal--smooth, rich, and worth ordering on its own. Nice little restaurant with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Service was quick and simple. I'm from Tashkent so some of the menu was familiar other items were more Persian influenced and some are just staples of middle eastern cuisine. Overall a nice collection of authentic and enjoyable dishes and salads. We had the samosas, mixed grill plate with rice and grilled vegetables. We also had the spinach pie and the eggplant salad, the one that was more popular according to the waiter. Everything was cooked well, the salads were good but I don't think I like eggplant. The puff pastry on the spinach pie was very oily/ buttery and didn't taste that impressive. The rice was great and the grilled meats were very well seasoned and delicious. Had lunch with my mom here. It was a Thursday afternoon and completely empty. I was a bit skeptical, but decided to stay anyway. The only person working seated us and was also our waiter. He was polite and gave recommendations. We had the choose 3 apps (samosa, spinach pie, and eggplant spread) and shared the beef entree that came with steak and a ground beef sausage. Loved the food here! The shirazi salad was simple but truly bursting with flavor and very fresh. It went well with the house bread too. I liked the trout but was very confused why it came with a sauce that tasted like a ranch salad dressing. The combination did not make sense and I pretty much did not touch it. Menu has a good amount of fish and vegetarian dishes. Portions are generous. Had the pomegranate martini which was full and very tasty! Very enjoyable! Warm pita was put on the table when seated. Also appreciated a pitcher of water on the table, although servers still were attentive in filling up our glasses. Appetizers and entrees were excellent and also good portions. Our family dined here one Sunday in February for dinner. We ordered Sabzi Khordan (cheese and walnuts with various herbs), Barg (meat that came with rice that was well prepared), hummus, and samosa, Jude kebab, and Adana kebab. The albalo polo or cherry rice was great -- and the baghali polo (rice with dill and fava beans) was very good. They even gave our group a rolled pastry dessert that was enjoyed by my family members. The meats were cooked well -- not too long or short. Why not five stars then? Well, we regularly ate/ordered from the restaurant formerly in this location -- the Azerbaijani Grill, and this restaurant is similar in nature. The service is still fantastic -- warm servers make it seem more familial help make the place a good one for a family meal. What's challenging though is that I can compare the two. There were previously dishes with sauces and other vegetables on that longer menu. I hope that FandoQ will bring back some of these options and add some seasonal Persian dishes too. I wouldn't order things like falafel, hummus, taboli here as they are not traditional to persian cuisine. Instead I would order kashkeh bademjan, Mirza ghasemi, sabzi khordan, shirazi salad, kebabs, ghormeh sabzi, gheimeh, especially if there's tahdig involved. The chicken koobideh kebab and jujeh in particular are very good and well presented. I would finish the meal with ice cream or a cup of tea. Service was cordial and good ambiance. read more

I had a lamb kebabs which was cooked medium rare, just as ordered, tasty and not chewy. A few of us replaced the side of rice with grilled vegetables, which were also very good.
