Overpriced lambchops and on the other side some beef kebabs
Roger H.

Overpriced, bland with a bizarre setting. Came here thinking this place would provide elevated Afghan food but it seems this place provided your typical grilled meat dishes at an elevated price. Came and was immediately confused as it seemed to have a nice interior but made it a place where it was you could get takeout only but are free to sit at their tables. Sat at their tables and served with plastic utensils, food came out in plastic trays as well which seemed incredibly bizarre since the setting and the prices of the dishes did not indicate this would be a fast food hole in the wall establishment. Paid an exorbitant price for their lambchops and almost bursted out in laughter after seeing how small the actual lambchops were, made it all the more obscene as it was almost $40 for this dish. Overall the food here was bland and uninteresting as it was just grilled meats with some white sauce with rice, a combo you can get on any nyc street cart for a quarter of what you'd pay here, only positive here was that you didnt have to tip. Won't be coming back and will much much more discerning when picking afghan places to go to in the future

Love this location much more than Flushing one. Food is fresher and well cooked. The Flushing one is dry!

They WILL NOT give you water. You have to pay for bottled water if you want to drink. Absolutely ridiculous!!! I don't care if the food is good bad or anywhere in between. No one is going to make me pay for water.

We haven't eaten here in the restaurant in a while. But I'm 100% sure the last time we were here we were able to get tapwater. Today, The server refused to give us tapwater. They would only give us bottled water. That's ridiculous! Shame on you, I should be able to go to a restaurant and not have to pay for water.

It's mainly a takeout place...but they have some seats in back if you want to have the food there. Well maintained and staff is friendly and attentive. Food is superb. Am a big kebab fan and I found their kebabs to be delicious and so yumm. Absolutely loved it. I stay nearby..so I am definitely going to be a regular here.

1/20/23 - Combo 2 (Chicken Kebab * Chicken Kebab * Chicken Kebab * Brown Rice * White Sauce * Raw Onions / Tomatoes)

This is a very expensive Afghan place but the food is phenomenal. I love ordering the mixed rice. It's a mixture of white rice and brown rice mixed together. They give it to you in an aluminum pan. I truly wish that they would give you more shish kebabs in an order. If they took care of that everything else would be right with the world. The white sauce is nice and tangy. It's so delicious you have to add it to everything. Also, it would be so much better if they include it sautéed onions as opposed to raw onions, grilled tomato and cilantro.

Ate in person at the no frills shop. The food is served together and it looks amazing and tastes divine. My beef was very tender and hit the spot. Love the salad and water is bottled so there's a charge. Good bathroom as well. Staff are attentive and friendly.

Lunch special was a good value and tasty. Got the chicken kebab. Looking forward to to going back to try other dishes.

I was told this was a solid spot by a friend many moons ago and his recommendation was valid. We had a combo platter of chicken kofta and beef kabob with rice. They had made a mistake with our order initially, so they gave us an extra chicken kabob! Everything was very well seasoned. The spicy sauce had a nice kick without making me sweat . The decor was nice and the restaurant looked very clean. I would definitely eat here again and/or order takeout! A+ Service

In excess of $100, I ordered a family combo meal to be delivered to my residence. Upon receiving the food, I discovered hair within the dish while serving it to my guests. I promptly contacted the restaurant, only to be informed that the kitchen was closed. Despite paying $108 for the meal, I received hair in the food and was not provided with a replacement. This experience is deeply disappointing and constitutes unsatisfactory service. I called back to the restaurant and was rudely spoken to by the so called manager, disgusting behaviour from the manager not only that I was blamed by the manager that wasn't any staff hair it was mine. If this was a corporate store this matter would never be handled like this. What a shame, I'm glad I paid by credit where I can get a refund by my bank. Staff and manager aren't friendly for sure !

Tray of savory rice & 3 kabobs: salmon; chicken tikka & beef tikka.

Kabul Kabob House has amazing food & great service. We ordered a tray that had a generous portion of savory rice with 3 kabobs: salmon; chicken & beef. It also came with a complimentary container of roasted onions & tomatoes & a fresh garden salad. I highly recommend the salmon kabobs & the white & green sauces that came on the side... Amazing lunch for my family.

A family staple from back in the flushing days was finally brought closer to home years ago and I couldn't be happier. First off the service by Omar and his team is always impeccable. The food is absolutely outstanding. Super fresh, freshly made and always delicious. Always gotta pair it with the white sauce, red sauce and the seasoning that goes with it. I always switch it up, we get a bit of everything but there is not one thing you can go wrong with here. My parents actually had their first date at the flushing location so this place has been in my family for years. It's absolutely outstanding and you never wanna miss your chance for good fresh amazing food.

When we sat down, we were served pita and tzatziki sauce. It was good! We ordered off of the lunch special. I had the Kubideh Kabab and my friend had the boneless chicken Kabab. The kababs were not dried out and they were very tasty, well seasoned, and not salty! With the lunch special, you get a choice of lentil soup or salad. I went with the soup and I'm glad I did! It really hit the spot since I haven't been feeling very good lately. We shared an appetizer of falafels. To be honest, it was a bit too dry for me. The service was great and our waitress was very nice. She gave us plenty of time to look at the menu and order. The restaurant is quiet overall but there isn't a lot of seating available. There's a shared parking lot but it's crowded. The food was amazing but I don't like looking for parking when I'm hungry. Just kidding. I'll stop by again!

My friend and I got the barg kabob with naan and the Sabzi palak (beef with spinach) that we got with rice. Both were good, but I enjoyed the texture of the meat and spinach dish more. The rice was flavorful. I overheard Rafi explaining to the other table and folks that got takeout that it would be an extra charge, but he could customize their orders, which I thought was nice that he was very transparent with them upfront and willing to work with the customer so that they could order the items that they want. I also appreciated him explaining to my friend that Turkish coffee comes with sugar and not milk and clarifying if she was OK with that before he made the coffee. We were given free firnee. Rafi was kind to check if we are allergic to dairy before offering it to us. Overall, the food was good. Service was fine and there was free parking in the back.

We already knew what we wanted for our entrées but decided to start with a few appetizers. Based on her recommendation, we tried the Mantoo (steamed chicken dumplings) and Kashk Badenjan (eggplant dish). Both were flavorful and enjoyed by everyone at the table. For our main course, we ordered the Mixed Grill Combination, which included lamb tikka, lamb kebab, jujeh, and chicken tikka. The portion was generous--perfect for sharing and even better for leftovers. It happened to be my aunts birthday and we were offered a traditional Afghan dessert, Firnee. It was a pudding topped with pistachios. It was creamy and sweet. Such a thoughtful gesture. By the way they also offer BYOB, which is a nice bonus. Overall, great food, friendly service, and an enjoyable dining experience.

We had already looked on the menu online and knew what we wanted to order. However, they gave us a pre-fix menu and stated that we could only order from the Mother's Day menu. It was 1 appetizer, 1 entree, soda or tea for $55 per person. If you look at the regular menu prices, this exceeds what it cost for 1 entree and 1 appetizer. We got the cheese rolls, liver, & mixed appetizer which were all shareable portions. After we were done with appetizers, it took over an hour to get our entrees. The waiter checked in and it seemed that he never gave the kitchen our orders or completely forgot about them because the food was luke warm. We got the lamb chops, chicken shish, & branzino. The chicken and tender and juicy. The branzino was light and flaky. Everything was well seasoned and the rice & salad were also tasty. The lamb chops were over cooked and a bit dry. Overall, I would say don't come here on a day you know will be busy. You may not get to order the dishes you want, experience poor service, and deal with an overpriced menu. For $55, they should have included a baklava for dessert or something.

It's become a reliable stop whenever you're craving authentic Persian food done well. One thing I've always appreciated here is the little touches. The warm bread they bring out is wonderful, and if you know to ask, they'll sometimes bring lentils as well -- a comforting start to the meal that feels very traditional. The meats are always fresh and beautifully seasoned, which is exactly what you hope for when ordering Persian kebabs. They recently renovated the Roslyn Heights location, and the space now feels very modern and polished. It's definitely an upgrade visually. That said, the dining room is a bit on the smaller side, and the tables sit fairly close together -- close enough that you might hear your neighbor's conversation. The Huntington location has a more relaxed, family-style Persian feel, while Roslyn feels more contemporary. Service has always been thoughtful. During our visit, we accidentally dropped a fork and the staff immediately replaced it without hesitation. Small gestures like that go a long way. What also makes Ravagh special is its place in the Roslyn Heights community. Located in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood on Long Island, it's nice to see a restaurant serving authentic halal Persian cuisine and welcoming such a diverse crowd. It adds something meaningful to the local dining scene. The spices and flavors are always the highlight. Desserts could perhaps be elevated a bit more, but the overall experience -- from the kebabs to the hospitality -- keeps people coming back. A lovely dinner spot on Long Island that continues to represent Persian cuisine with consistency and care.
