I've driven by this spot to go to a nearby store many times so I've been meaning to try it for a while, since it's close to work. Now that I have, I don't think I'd be back. Ordered a mix lamb/chicken wrap with a few of the toppings. For one, I was excited to see that the tortilla was heated before he prepared everything else. However, when eating it I was surprised to find that the meat itself (which came out of the waiting to be used warmer section) was fairly room temperature/cold, so everything overall translated to being not warm. The toppings are pretty standard for such a restaurant (corn, tomatoes, olives, peppers, pickles, beans, lettuce) and they did have white sauce but what did bum me a bit was that they didn't have hummus. Especially because previous Yelp reviews have commented on them having hummus, so not sure if this was just a temporary thing or if they've removed it completely. The price is great, but pretty on par with similar places. And parking is super easy. What really bothered me the most, however, is the creation of the wrap. It was hard to watch as the attendant folded the filled wrap one way and then folded it a second way, as if to make a sandwich, and the wrapped it in tin foil. I was actively watching things fall out and thinking "there is no way I can eat this as a wrap". Ultimately, I cut everything with a fork and knife. There are so many similar spots in the area that I will probably try some others before considering coming back to the fold-it-yourself wrap laundromat. read more

This is my husbands favorite spot to go and we wind up buying their burgers, shrimp and/or platters once a week. Not only are they conveniently located butI the food is freshly made and reasonably priced and they are open late. The guys who work there are really nice and the spot is always clean. There are also a few tables and chairs if you wish to eat there. My one complaint about the food is the aftertaste that their lamb and rice have - they taste quite different than other halal spots but maybe thats just a matter of personal taste preference. read more

This place has unfortunately gone downhill- and when I say by a lot I mean it. They used to have great food and service but I'm pretty certain the owners switched hands because both the food and service now are absolutely appalling. For $13+ a platter, I expect the food to at the very least be fresh but it wasn't even that. The rice and meat tasted old and the rice to meat ratio was like 8:2- if you're going to charge so much you have to give enough meat! And can it not be from the day before? Standard chicken and rice platter, what you would expect for this kind of meal. The unique aspect of the options would be their choice of yellow rice or "spicy" rice, which tasted like it was cooked with cardamom pods (not spicy, more like spice-y). I paid close to $11 for just the chicken and rice platter, which did come with a free can of soda, but felt overpriced for the quality. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. Since that's not an option, they are getting one star at best and I'm being generous. Let me break it down for you in a few words: Do NOT waste your time, energy, and money on this place. We ordered from them tonight. Not only did our food take an hour to arrive, but it was cold. Once we opened everything up, we came to realize that this wasn't Mediterranean food like they are advertising. It's a gyro cart that is falsely advertising that they carry shawarma. We ordered a chicken shawarma platter that was supposed to come with chicken kebab, hummus, pickles, grilled onions & peppers and garlic sauce. Do you see any of that in the picture that I posted? Because I do not. They are charging $15 and upwards for a $5 gyro platter. Absolutely disgusting. The chicken shawarma wrap & beef shawarma wraps were the same. It was gyro chicken/beef thrown into a wrap. We also ordered a garlic sauce on the side and received a store bought ranch dressing! Lol The descriptions of the items on the menu are completely misleading. They are claiming to be a restaurant that specializes in shawarma and that is completely untrue. They should be shut down unless they modify their name and their menu items/descriptions of those items to reflect what they are actually serving. So short story long: Save yourself and DO NOT make the mistake that I did by giving this place a chance. The food wasn't what we ordered and it was awful. Chicken is seasoned very well without being spicy, their white sauce slaps with a bit of tang, and the addition of salad and pita makes for a well-rounded meal. Color me impressed! Tonight was out 2nd night visiting Halal-N-Out and wild out and tried their chopped cheese and chicken tenders! For $13, you get nicely seasoned and perfectly crispy, FULL SIZE, chicken tendies. They literally tasted like they were just floured and fried. The chopped cheese was flavorful and juicy - it literally taste like Brooklyn! Definitely a winner! On our first visit, we had went safe route and got the chicken platter. We opted for the "seasoned" rice, which was quite spicy but everything was super tasty and portions were great. The wedges of pita that came with the platter was soft and had a good chew. We also ordered masala fries, which were perfectly crispy, BUT lacking seasoning. For a dollar less, I'd go with regular fries! Halal is sweeping the nation. It's not just about street meat carts now. They're dishing out platters in To-Go restaurants now. I started a Halal tour recently after attending a YEE in Farmingdale. These eateries are popping up everywhere now. It's easy to miss this place once you turn onto Hillside Ave but it's right in the mini mall next to the gourmet bakery. It's set up like a Blimpie or Subway. There's a salad station where they prep the platters with your choice of regular Basmati rice or " Spicy rice". A well seasoned rice. I decided on the Falafel platter with spicy rice. Service was quick and friendly. A free can of soda comes with the platter like most street cart deals. They had the classic 90's C&C Pineapple soda ! I was pretty excited. The platter itself was average to me. Hence the 3 stars. Falafel was fresh but I've had better. They could benefit from adding more fresh toppings to the platter like The Halal Guys. Just the iceberg lettuce and Israeli salad was ok. Nothing to write home about. Toggled between 3 and 4 stars... solely because I am so set on my usual halal place that no other ever comes close. That being said, this place was one of the few that I did actually enjoy outside of my usual truck. They have spicy rice which is a nice touch that I haven't seen anywhere else. They had a steak and chicken combo, also something I haven't seen anywhere else but I didn't LOVE the steak. It was kind of dry and more like chop meat. A lot more pepper and onions that other places. White sauce is good, hot sauce is really hot - very similar to halal guys. The salad has more to it than other places, like roasted peppers and red onions. They put dressing on the salad and it's very tasty. The only thing worth ordering before is the lamb gyro but now they've made that too spicy. Overpriced, not too friendly guys behind the counter serving you. Also, credit card surcharges on transactions, price differences not listed on the menu, nor is there any signs near the cash register stating that there will be a credit card fee added when you pay with your card. Sales taxes is also incorrect for a business located in Nassau County (8.625%), they are charging NYC sales tax (8.875%) on their registers, which is higher than NC tax. I've been here twice now and I've eaten combos. The portions are great and very delicious. There is an option between normal rice and spicy rice (I recommend the spicy) and the salad in the combo is the best I've ever had. You also get pita bread as part of your combo which is very good considering the price. If you get the combo you also get a drink l and I'm pleased to say that they have a huge selection of drinks. Besides just Halal food, they are also a fully stocked deli and have a variety of other sandwiches and cold cuts. They also have milkshakes and subs available as well. The staff are very friendly and they do have delivery service on orders over $10. There is some room to sit down but only enough for a group of 4.
