Don't be fooled by this restaurant's strip-mall location - the food is outstanding. Some of my favorites are the chicken mantoo dumplings and the chicken tikka. Qabuli pulao is also delicious. And don't miss the rice pudding The owners formerly were associated with Choopan Grill in Hicksville. Very glad I found them in their new location. This is a hidden gem. Has a small parking lot located next to Dunkin Donuts. I have been here quiet a few times. All the combos are very filling and can't really finish in one sitting. They do give you too much rice which is a waste. They do not give you extra white sauce to go when you order to go but if you sit in you can use the whole bottle which doesn't make sense. It's like the sushi places who do the same with soy sauce and don't fill it to the top. Another thing to note is the family combos are not worth it for the price. They give you more meat if you order 4 individual platters versus family combo for 4. So basically paying $4 less for less meat and a lot of rice for the family combo. Delicious mantou. The dumplings were topped with a meat sauce that resembles bolognese. We also ordered the lamb over rice dish with an extra lamb. The owner is pleasant and accommodating. The star is still the mantou! Will be back to try other dishes. read more

I tried Halal Express for the first time today. I called and had a few questions about the menu and the man on the phone (I'm assuming the owner) was so helpful and very nice. I ordered and picked up my food, and as I walked in, I was immediately starving! It smelled amazing. The man was even nicer in person. I ordered their beef kofta over rice and an order of falafel. (Both flavorful and delicious!) The portions were very generous for the price. It was so good, I had to call them back to let them know how much I enjoyed it. This time I spoke to a woman. I ordered the kofta combo and received food that was both visually appealing and absolutely delicious. The rice was extremely flavorful, the beef and the chicken were super tender and tasty. I tell them how many people I need food for and they do the rest . the owner figures out the size of my order for me , food is always consistent. it's a very clean establishment . they are known & popular for their catering for large 500 persons weddings etc . my friends have requested customized menus for their home parties with no problem. can't go wrong with rice and kebob , fills you up , hits the spot and their pricing is fair . I was very impressed with this place. Walked in and was immediately greeted. The cashier saw me wiping off my glasses from the rain water and handed me a paper towel to dry them off. While drying them she noticed I was desperately trying to read the menu posted behind her on the wall and quickly directed me to a paper menu taped by the register. I was impressed, she was so keen and on top of things she accommodated me at every step. Before I even knew what I needed she was on it. So I ordered my food which also came with a free drink a can soda. I ordered the lamb over rice and also a phillycheese steak hero. When it was ready she packed it up and asked if I wanted a straw and some extra napkins and even reminded me to grab my soda. And I left. Sometimes its the little things that make a big difference. I did not expect to be treated so well, she litterally gave the extra effort to make sure I was a satisfied customer. We have Uber Eats this restaurant twice during lockdown. Both times the food was excellent. We have ordered both chicken skewers and they were moist s as Nd very flavorful. Stopped by on my way from work to get some chicken over rice and got served just that and alot more! The customer service here is outstanding. The second I walk in I am greeted and reassuring me that I will be serviced as quick as possible. I ordered a mix of chicken and lamb over rice with salad. I had asked for double meat but then changed my mind and good I did because when I was given my meal the regular serving itself looked like a serving for two people. The meal was brought to my seat on a plate along with white sauce, barbecue sauce and hot sauce which surprised me most places put the sauce on your meal themselves but here you have the choice to put just as much white sauce as you want. In the middle of my meal I was given a complimentary dessert free of charge just for coming in to eat, i believe it was a special pudding which topped off the meal just perfect!
