The thing that makes Marbella's nice is their atmosphere. The steaks were subpar, but I'd like to try their Italian options next time. I've had better filet and ribeye for the price. I will say I've had the best calamari, mashed potatoes and cheesecake. I will also say their wine list and cocktails are impressive. Service wise it was just ok. Mabella is hit or miss. I've had more miss visits than hits unfortunately but that hit visit keeps me coming back and hoping for another stellar experience. Service is always wonderful, it's the food that is hit or miss. The menu items are just okay in my opinion. We have had every app and a few of the entrees and they just aren't anything to write home about. I have only had one special that was pork that was incredible. The rest have just been meh. I would also say the cheesecake that the employees seem brainwashed to tell you to order is really just plain cheesecake. During my first visit I asked for a recommendation for desert and told the waitress I didn't like cheesecake and she still recommended it lol. read more

The cheesecake is the best I've ever had in my life. My sister and I went for Galentines Day. I had the lamb chops and they were cooked to the perfect temp. The potatoes au gratin were super cheesy. My sister got the ribeye and stated it was the most perfectly cooked steak she's ever had. I ordered a mocktail since had a long drive. It was good. My sister ordered the grilled pineapple margarita. She didn't like it but it didn't affect her experience. Our waiter was very friendly and cracked the occasional joke. Free garlic bread was served but we're not bread people. Dinner out with friends to celebrate a birthday!!! The server was great and very attentive. I wasn't pleased with my order, so I asked for my order to be boxed. The server asked if everything was good. I let him know that the medium well lamb chops I ordered were raw all the way through. He offered to have the chef put it back on the grill, which would char the outside. And he offered to mention the issue to the manager. She came over to apologize and added that she didn't have to, but would take something off of the bill. I felt her statement was rude and unnecessary. Off the beaten trail, Italian restaurant. The food was good and tasty. The only reason it's not five stars is because the drink menu didn't have soda or lemonade refreshments. I had the wild mushroom stuffed ravioli with the 4 oz petite filet on top which included a salad, and my spouse had the pistachio crusted grouper served over shaved brussel sprouts with pancetta. Both were excellent! Then we got the cheesecake with strawberries and chocolate drizzle and it was creamy and light and excellent. She let me know they will hold the table for us. Kevin was our waiter and he was amazing. He explained the menu and was very professional. He was a sweetheart and read the menu for one of my friend who's legally blind. Both of my friend ordered the lamb chops and they described them as very tender. I went to Mabella around 9 p.m. on a Saturday night, and to say the food was subpar was to put it lightly. My partner and I ordered a steak and the chicken parm. The steak was mainly fat, and the part that was not, was impossible to chew. The mashed potatoes were over blended and had a texture reminiscent of the 99 cent instant mashed potatoes from Walmart. The fried chicken breast on the parm was already soggy when the food got to our table, and the chicken itself was almost paper thin. The sauce that covered the dish was unseasoned and was reminiscent of a can of crushed tomatoes from a grocery store. The pasta itself was fine, but was not giving the impression of homemade effort. The bread service that is provided was over toasted and hard as a rock. That being said, the brussel sprouts were great, and our waitress, Hailey, was fantastic! We were supremely excited to be traveling to Columbus after a delight day perusing the gardens and exhibits at Callaway Gardens and were really, really looking forward to dining at this restaurant that was supposed to be one of the best in Columbus. Though there are some good things about this place, I've most certainly experience better. Granted we did visit during a busy Prom evening, but some of the things we experience were quite unacceptable for place of this stature. Parking is street based which is free, and there is a parking deck just across the street. I immediately noticed that they do have two tables outside where one may choose to do outdoor dining, but you're basically on the on the side walk with no shade with people walking inches away which can become quite crowded. The atmosphere that evening was one that was busy with dozens of students in prom suits. I believe they also have an upstairs. I made reservations a few days before for us and I always request a quiet away with dim lighting if possible. We were seated way up front near the bar in a busy area at a piano that had a table on-top. Our waiter was a very nice young man, but in explaining the limitations of that evenings menu options and giving us a synopsis of of the daily offerings and Chef specials, he was entire too verbose to the point where we got lost in everything he was explaining. I would suggest that he be more succinct in his explanations of the menu. We received our drinks in timely manner, but we had to beg for the bread two or three times. It was quite delicious once we actually received it. I started with the Soup Di Giorno which is pictured below, which is a spicy Gazpacho and it was cold. To me, it tasted like tomato-based buttermilk with a dash of red peppers. I tried to sip more of it but was not at all feeling it. My girlfriend and I both agreed that it would be better if it was warm. She started with the wedge salad and specifically asked for no nuts because it comes with Almonds, and she received it with nuts. I reminded the waiter that she is allergic. Our entrees were quite delicious. I had the NY strip steak pictures below with the asapargus which were excellent. They are someone stingy on the king mushrooms and with the price of the dish I would've expected more for it to be a "side." It was actually just a dollop of mushrooms. We did not have dessert. Overall, this presumed Italian steakhouse has a potentially romantic but very busy atmosphere with delicious food but sub-par service. I would encourage this institution which has great potential to be the best of the best to recognize that the total package as a restaurant makes you great--not just the food. Incredible. The Chicken piccata was a meal I will remember for the rest of my life. The seasonal risotto was heaven with every bite. I have a weakness for risotto and it is hard to find one that makes me sink into myself with satisfaction. This did it every time. The wine was incredible. The cheesecake was the best I've ever had and I'm not a dessert person. You will not be disappointed! I made a second trip a week later because I'm a closet fat kid. Scallops were incredible! The broccoli rabe risotto was lacking flavor. Definitely needed salt. The eggplant parm appetizer was incredible! I loved the grill char. Only criticism was the eggplant was slightly underdone.
