My honey brought me here for a birthday dinner while I was visiting and I was so pleasantly surprised. Our server Sierra, was an absolute gem. Kind, attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, and she gave great recommendations. She also made our cocktails which were delicious and well balanced. We tried the prosciutto wrapped goat cheese dates for novelty and the calamari as our appetizers. The dates were incredible and I could honestly eat an entire bowl of them. The texture of the calamari was perfect! Not rubbery and not just breading either. For dinner, I tried the crab and lobster risotto which was divine and he had a steak with a few sides. Everything we ate was amazing. We dined upstairs which is a little more secluded than downstairs but still so fun. The ambiance of Mabella is beautiful. It's dimly lit and feels so romantic! If you're in the area I would absolutely recommend trying this place out. It's great for special occasions or just a nice Friday night out. I would also recommend making a reservation! Visited with friends. Popped in on a Friday night and was cheerfully seated. They weee busy so I was surprised. Started with the pan fried provolone and Norwegian salmon. Both were very good. The cheese dish was piping hot and seasoned exquisitely. The cold salmon was a nice contrast. I had the Ribeye. Cooked perfectly. The house wedge salad with the Gorgonzola dressing. Delicious. Friend No. 1 had the mushrooms ravioli. Very hood. Wry rich. Friend No. 2 had the large wedge salad ( like I had) But he added shrimp. Large and fire grilled. The only thing lacking was a bourbon selection. The menu they shared was outdated so we had to stare at the bar. With the allotments going on I didn't hold this too much against them. Cool atmosphere and good service. Very busy - reservations recommended on weekends. People coming in were only able to sit at the bar. Bread was really good to start as was the house salad. We both enjoyed our entrees - Spicy Strozzapreti earned its spicy name. They allowed you to substitute the sides so I swapped brocollini (they were out of asparagus) with the pasta. We really wanted to love this place! It was our anniversary. We had heard and read great reviews. We had reservations and they knew we were celebrating our anniversary. But, we were underwhelmed! Pros: welcomed and seated promptly, waitress was attentive, loved the building, the cheesecake was the best thing we ordered, my wedge salad with the Gorgonzola dressing was tasty. food presentation was nice. Cons: were seated by a door leading to a service area, lots of waitress traffic, noise level was such we had to yell at each other, husband's house salad was mediocre, my filet was way too salty, husband's filet was tough and chewy. Needless to say, we were disappointed and our first visit will likely be our last. For $100+ we expected more! We both felt we would have enjoyed Longhorn better. This is my third time eating and Mabella and I can say I have never been disappointed! From the warm decor, amazing wait staff, well thought out menu - I have never left disappointed! Tonight I had the fried cheese appetizer which is not what you'd expect. The fried provolone comes in a skillet seasoned with garlic, oregano, evoo and served with grilled Italian bread. It is so amazing!! My entree was pepper crusted salmon with spinach and mashed potatoes. The standout was the salmon. Cooked and seasoned to perfection it was laid atop mashed potatoes and nicely cooked spinach. The dessert - CHEESECAKE! I am a cheesecake snob (coming from NYC) and I have to say this is the best cheesecake I have had. I got it with fresh strawberries and cream and it is so rich and delicious. Good: Probably one of the top five best steaks ever. Was so good it melted in my mouth. The servers are proactive and work together to serve you. You will find them pitching in with each other's tables if they see something that needs to be done Bad: Our champagne glasses were really dirty and our bruschetta came out burnt. I wish I took a picture of the glasses they had smudges and food all over the rim of glass. It was gross, but not a big deal, just asked for more glasses. However, the server didn't apologize, but rather acted like I was being a diva to ask for a clean glass. If I gave customers filthy glasses I couldn't imagine now apologizing, but worse making them feel bad for asking for clean dish ware. read more

went to dinner to celebrate a birthday and it was an experience our waitress came and introduced herself and take our drink order, a few folks in our group wanted the drink special but without alcohol. drinks were brought back and all who ordered were pleased. now here's where things started to get weird. the waitress told my in laws that she was going to stand next to them and speak loudly so that they could hear her. we were mortified. not only is that insulting, my in laws are not hard of hearing; the waitress was simply mumbling and speaking under her breath at times. even the youngest person in our group had trouble hearing her. now that my in laws have been insulted, on their birthday, we move to food and this is where my soul left my body. as i'm ordering my food the waitress begins coughing a very phlegm-y cough on me. like coughing so hard that her eyes began to water. coughing so hard that she had to step away to catch her breath. coughing so hard that she attempted to suppress the cough only for it to kick up again. this happened for many minutes and she said she caught "whatever's been going around" and "it's been 10 days" so she's "not contagious anymore" *stares in pandemic. stares in elderly in laws. stares in even if rona wasn't a thing, being coughed on is simply gross. stares in i've been a waitress and never went to work sick out of respect for the folks i was serving* anyhow... food comes, it looks good but i don't have an appetite at this point cause of the coughing episode. i took a few bites, boxed the rest, and after thinking more on it once home - tossed the box. the mocktail crew wanted another mocktail with their meal and we're informed that they can't have one because they aren't drinking alcohol (?) so the bartenders refused to make the drink, which i thought was weird. like, mocktails are a thing now ... so they got some other mocktail? y'all. idk. the whole experience was weird. i had high hopes but don't see myself going back, bummer because non chain restaurant options in this town are fairly limited. such a weird and uncomfortable experience on all fronts. read more

She suggested three dishes to us, as it was our first time visiting, and I chose the Wild mushroom ravioli and I am so glad I did. She also told us, Justin, makes the best peach margaritas and she was not kidding - he does! We had, mussels, scallops and Mabella's filet - equally delicious. However, the cheesecake was the best we've had. Add the cherries on top and I could eat it everyday. The portions were generous for the prices, especially that cheesecake slice! The only thing was my husband had a little trouble finding an alcoholic drink he loved but that is not something that would stop us from coming back to visit - he should have gotten himself a peach margarita, ha. We stopped here during a road trip because we were impressed with the reviews and I am so glad we did! The restaurant is housed in a former Bell communications building and the architecture is charming and romantic! We didn't have a reservation and it was definitely busy but we were accommodated in the upstairs dining room relatively quickly (probably best to call ahead though). The food was delicious and the portions were generous. Luna, our waitress, provided great recommendations about what to order and spoke to us about the town and the origins of the restaurant. This is our go-to spot in Columbus every time I've had to travel to Fort Benning/Moore. The garlic bread is fabulous, as are the mussels. You can't go wrong with a steak, but love the Italian dishes as well. The building is beautiful old brick and very charming. Make a reservation early! read more

Mabella is a hit or miss. I keep wanting to give it another chance, but it's like playing Russian roulette. Pros: atmosphere, location, their filet mignons, mash potatoes + their grilled pineapple marg. Like I mentioned, I never know how I'm going to feel about my meal. My pineapple margarita was delicious-- and don't get me wrong I love a strong drink because it makes me feel like I got my moneys worth... BUT this moscow mule really tasted like vodka and ice. I was pretty upset because I thought the previous drink was so good! Their mushroom/gorgonzola ravioli was super delish if you're into heavy meals. Definitely a comfort meal. I ordered it with the filet mignon and it was really good! I ordered the Summer Pappardelle and immediately regretted the choice within the first bite. I tried to like it, but I think it would be best to just take it off the menu... OR maybe it was just the way it was cooked this one time. The pasta was overcooked and tasted like baby food. The flavors did not compliment each other, I took the majority of it to-go and I can't say I touched my leftovers... I still would take my family and friends here because of the atmosphere and hey--we're risk takers. Maybe we'll have a good time... we just have to find out! Haha. All jokes aside, a note to management and the kitchen: pay attention to detail and measurements. Hopefully it will manifest in a more consistent experience for the guests. read more
