We had a great dinner here. Arrived at 6:30pm on a Friday with reservation and were seated quickly, the service was quick and the food was good. It is nice that they added sound dampening pads to the ceiling to reduce the noise in an echoey old house. Would definitely come again. They should make a separate Yelp page for the bakery portion so there are more accurate reviews for each offering.

Shrimp & Grits, Crab cake Benedict

This was my first visit. I was greeted warmly when I walked in. Our waitress was wonderful and checked in to see if we needed anything. The decor is historic yet comfortable. We had brunch. I loved the crab cake Benedict and my husband had the Shrimp and Grits which he raves about. Both entrees were large enough for two meals. So of course we carried home what we couldn't eat. I can't wait for my next visit!

    Shrimp & Grits

This was our second time dining here, we first visited about a year ago when they had just opened and had a similar experience. We decided to give it another chance, hoping things had improved, but unfortunately, they haven't. We had a 12pm reservation for brunch and didn't receive our food until 2pm. A two-hour wait is extremely ridiculous, especially when two of the meals were omelets, which should be relatively quick to prepare. The table next to us was seated well after us, and also got their food first. On top of that, we never received the toast that was supposed to come with both omelets. The omelets themselves were tasty, but overall, the food wasn't worth the wait. My husband's shrimp and grits were overly greasy - the shrimp had good flavor, but the rest of the dish was disappointing. The waitstaff was doing they're best - but clearly overwhelmed, which made it obvious the issue lies with the kitchen or management. After two visits with the same problems a year apart, we be won't be returning.

Renata and Marselo set the stage tonight. I took my girlfriend out for a special night and this place did not miss. They were so welcoming and the staff were very attentive. The food was to one of a kind of experience. We will definitely have to return again.

Beautiful place with great friendly service and delicious food! The bloody Mary was yummy and they even gave us a personalized card before we left

    Wendy Harding and Renata

My friend, Ginger Streetman, and I had the most lovely time at Renata's fancy tea today. We felt so special and the finger sandwiches were delightfully delicious. The macaroons and carrot cake were prepared creatively and tasted fresh and perfect. The servers were very attentive. We felt like we were at the beautiful home of friends. Renata and her husband interacted with all the guests and showed us their collection of art dedicated to animals, as well as the photographs of the original owners of the house from 1839. They still have lovely stained glass windows. Renata is an interior decorator who has transformed the interior of the Goetchius House into a true artistic expression of herself. Renata and her husband are true gems of our community.

Beef Wellington. Couldn't wait to dig in! Doesn't seem like it in this picture but cooked medium rare.

Hidden gem in a beautiful historic home. Great food and cocktails. I had an outstanding Beef Wellington. Great service too. Very friendly and attentive staff. Highly recommend for a date night or special occasion.

We were seated within 15 mins of arrival. Everyone was so kind. Our table shared the shrimp cocktail, and I had the 2 filet medallions with green beans and cheesy grits. The food was delicious. I found the shrimp super flavorful. They are prepared by weight, not numbers, so the shrimp count is between 5-7. The cocktail sauce was tasty. I ordered my steak medium rare. It was just over that, but still so tasty, juicy, and tender. The grits were a stand out! They were so good that our table got an extra side to share. Our server, Addison was such a personality and knowledgeable about the menu. Her service convinced me that I could trust her with basically anything. We sat outside, so we never got further than the threshold so I can't say I know too much about the vibe inside. However, there was great people watching, GREAT food, and great company. All around, probably the best place we ate all weekend. Thank you Addison for making our dinner great!

Both entrees were perfectly cooked and the Mac and cheese was tasty with a sprinkle of ritz crackers in the recipe. I would return here again.

I started off with the Moon Over Madagascar, and let me tell you--if this drink had a fan club, I'd be president. The black tea and vanilla combo sounded like a weird dare at first, but it ended up being shockingly amazing. Whoever came up with that mix deserves a bonus and maybe a parade. Now, let's talk about the shrimp and grits, because these were not just "good." These were "call your mama and tell her you've tasted greatness" good. The chef is from South Carolina, and you can taste every bit of Lowcountry pride in that bowl. Perfectly cooked grits? Check. Pile of blackened shrimp? Double check. A sauce that made me rethink my entire life? Oh yeah. If they sold that sauce by the gallon, I'd be bankrupt but extremely happy. Erica, our waitress, was an absolute rockstar. Super helpful, incredibly informative, and somehow managed to keep the perfect balance of friendly and professional--even on the Sunday after the Iron Bowl, when half of Auburn is stress-eating. The place was spotless too, which is impressive considering the emotional damage that game causes every year. Bottom line: The Hound is a must-visit. Come hungry, order boldly, and thank me later.

The restaurant is very cute and truly has an "at home" feel. I was really looking forward to having the short rib. Unfortunately when we were seated our waitress told us they didn't have it that day. While ordering drinks my husband was ordering beer and he was told they didn't sell what he was asking for. Even though it was listed on the menu. He ended up ordering whatever the waitress suggested and we ordered the shrimp cocktail while we looked over the menu. The shrimp cocktail was very good. For dinner I ordered the filet with lobster and my husband the Pork shank. My filet came out overcooked but was promptly fixed. The lobster was amazing ! My husband wasn't a big fan of the pork. We did order a cheesecake for dessert that was also really good. Overall our experience was pleasant but food wise not what I'd expected from the other reviews. However the service was great. The owner is so nice and spent time socializing at each table. He even came to make sure my second set of fillets were good to go. Our waitress is also very nice. I can see us trying this place out again. Hopefully on a night they have short rib.
