Very nice place to eat on a date or with friends/family. Server was good, but quiet. Restaurant was quaint and a touch loud for dinner service (seated right next to the bar and entrance). We got the fried calamari and artichokes (great, good flavor). The table bread was toasted and garlic seasoned. My entree (mushroom ravioli with petite filet) was very good! That ravioli was 10/10! Perfectly cooked! That cheese sauce was so rich and creamy! Best pasta dish I've had in a while! My petite fillet was pretty good but only con was I requested medium and it was medium rare, but still great and I eat my meat either way. The only thing I didn't care for was the house salad. That dressing oil to vinegar ratio was off. It did not look or taste fancy and upscale like my entree did. The ceaser salad looked way more appealing. We were attending a concert in downtown Columbus, so I wanted to have dinner relatively close. This restaurant had been under construction the last time we visited, but it was a viable option this time. I made a reservation a month or so in advance (though it may be possible to get a table closer to your target date than that). We arrived just before our 5:45 p.m. reservation. It was bitterly cold that day, so I dropped my wife off and searched for parking. My advice: there seemed to be more spaces available on 1st Avenue north of the restaurant. I circled around some other streets first and found nothing. The restaurant itself is a somewhat narrow but deep space in its building. When you enter, the first room has the bar on the left and tables on the right. There is a secondary smaller room towards the back which was where our table was. Our waiter showed up and got our drink orders. There was an extensive list of specials and drinks, which was fine. I don't think we opted for them, but it was nice that they had a changing variety of dishes. As this was our first time here, everything was a novelty. I had some wine; the pours were average. I think the entrees came with salads, which were good. For the main dish, I had to decide between lasagna, spaghetti, and a mushroom ravioli + steak option. I went with the latter, and was pleased. The steak was just 4 oz, but that's fine given the overall dish. It was cooked well and tasty. The ravioli were good as well. I did not manage to finish them, but enjoyed them for lunch the next day. My wife opted for a fish dish which she also liked. We did not want to overdo dinner with dessert as we had a performance to attend. Otherwise, I'd have checked that out. The last thing I'll comment on is the music selection. They were featuring "Spanish guitar" covers of pop songs, but the mix was pretty eclectic - it included Beatles, CCR, the Theme from Forrest Gump, etc. I enjoyed it quite a bit, to the point that I emailed them to ask about it. It definitely wasn't just a generic background music stream! We are planning to attend another performance in Columbus later in the Spring, and I have already made a reservation to return to Mabella's. read more

The service on a Monday at opening was top notch 5 stars! I had multiple people stop through out my meal to check on me and keep my water glass full and my other drink. Shortly after offering garlic bread it arrived within minutes hot and moist n crispy edges just the way I like! It was airy and fluffy! Not overly done with garlic seasoning just the right amount to know it's there! A few moments later my lasagna came out! Hot and delicious! This place is really cute and such a hidden gem! We stopped by here one day after a long day at work and it was everything we wanted and more. They started us off with done delicious garlic bread. We ordered our drinks, which were so good! And then also ordered the bruschetta dip. I would say that the bruschetta dip was one of the best dishes that we had at this place. I honestly would come back here just for a drink and the bruschetta dip reviews. We also tried the pesto salmon and the blackened chicken spaghetti. Both the items were delicious, but the bruschetta dip with the garlic bread definitely took the cake. We ended the night with an affogato, which for eight dollars was definitely worth it. The service was great, and even though the bartender was the only one working the entire bar, she was attentive and kind. We can't wait to be back and try other things on the menu. read more

Mabella is hands down my favorite restaurant in Columbus, GA. The place is charming, I personally love the old-fashioned European bar ambiance. The service has always been great. The only thing that could improve is the seating arrangement, especially when you have a reservation for a date or special occasion... but hey, it is what it is, no big deal. Now, the food? Amazing! My go-to dish is the filet mignon with mushroom ravioli -- absolutely delicious. And don't even think about skipping dessert... their cheesecake is a must. Never been to this part of GA stopped for the night and looked at several restaurant reviews and glad we went with Mabella. We didn't have a reservation we were able to get bar sits within 15mins. I started with the muscles for an appetizer. They are excellent with a hint of heat. If you can't do any spicy food don't try this. Drank a few beers that were nice and cold. The service was excellent and the whole place had a great vibe. The grouper was the best thing I ate there. I had a nice white 2022 SOLILOQUY wine, this was slightly sweet like honeysuckle with a little oak on the finish. For desert I had the tiramisu with a 30year dows port. THE MOST AMAZING STEAKHOUSE. My husband and I went here and the service/food is impeccable. If you get the chance have the bartender Peyton make you a drink. She served me a gold rush (bourbon style drink) and it was to die for. Wesley has served us both times we have been there and he is also a delight. He knows all the specials , is so sweet, and truly makes the experience. The slightly darker ambient lighting and old vibes are my favorite. It's like a classy speakeasy vibe. The outside is also perfect for photos! I do not recommend the Midland location. Trust me - we live five minutes from the Midland location and this downtown location is well worth the drive!! They also have an affogato to die for. The hazelnut ice cream paired with the biscotti and espresso - IT IS THE BEST THING ON THE MENU. Right now it is vanilla ice cream and an amaretto cookie (not my favorite & I hope they change it back soon) The Mabella's filet dinner is always cooked to perfection and is bursting with flavor. I came here for a special birthday dinner and had a lovely time. I was in town for a 2.5 week vegan retreat with a friend, and she smuggled me off campus to make my birthday wish of 'eating a ribeye as big as my head' come true. Enter Mabella! We arrived just as they were opening for the evening, and despite not having a reservation, they were able to squeeze us into a table. This is a traditional looking steakhouse with a very casual/approachable air, a wonderful overall vibe. The complimentary bread was fantastic--better than our actual starter which was a sort of mushroom toast. Just okay, we didnt finish it. For our mains, my friend opted for the loaded baked potato and a side of asparagus, both of which were huge! I had the ribeye with a side of steamed spinach and shaved brussel sprouts. Everything about my entree was very good, with the exception of the cook on the ribeye which was a bit too blue for me, but still tasted excellent. The spinach was bright green and just wilted, and the shaved brussels were a perfect bite of sweet and salty with the lardon and dates added. Service was very courteous, although we needed to request a few things multiple times (water, extra butter for the potato, etc). Overall, this meal scratched my itch for a meaty meal and I would come back again if I ever find myself in the area. read more

We did dinner at Mabella's Friday evening. We'd had a late lunch and weren't super hungry but wanted to honor our rezzie. My son and I had a couple old fashioned's, the Caesar salad and truffle ravioli with a petite filet. Service was great! Everything was delish. You should absolutely make a booking if you plan on coming for dinner as we watched many be turned away or have lengthy waits because this spot surely books up. My brother and his bestie use to have "Steak Friday" every Friday, I told my son this place could be a great spot for him and his friend for a Steak Friday tradition :) Great spot for date night, family dinner or any occasion. The lamb chops were amazing. I personally ordered the mushroom ravioli which came with a 4oz steak and it was cooked to perfection. The bread they brought out was great. The sangria is pretty good as well. The calamari was well seasoned and crispy. We sat upstairs and it was nice. Lights were turned down a bit and they had some music playing. I wish they had space for me and my boyfriend to sit side by side but the tables for two and a bit on the small side. Would definitely love to go back soon. I meant to post this review back in October, when I remembered everyone's names. It's now March 2024. And I feel bad I forgot names. My boyfriend and I came to Mabella after wanting Italian. We came into town for our friend's graduation from the Army. We walked in and was seated right away at the bar, and the hospitality was fantastic. The caesar salad was beautiful, the smoked provolone dip was a highlight for us, and the pasta was delicious. We heard several customers talk about the cheesecake, alongside the employees. We asked what the best sides to include was, and they suggested the strawberries and the tart cherries. The cherries were our favorite! They were soaked in this cherry juice that was to die for. Needless to say, when you come in, get the cheesecake. Service was fantastic, atmosphere was chill and really nice, even when my boyfriend came in with sweats. This was my third experience at Mabella and will be my last. The first time we dined here the fries tasted of old oil and were ice cold. Lack of care in the kitchen. Additionally the steak was cooked incorrectly: manager kindly gifted us a gift card when we said something. Second time, no issues. 3rd time. Ordered a ribeye and was served a different cut. Questioned it with two servers. Both assured us it was a ribeye. Ate it and it was an absolutely horrible steak. Tasted like hanger steak and very lean, no flavor like a ribeye. He ate it because he was informed it was a ribeye, but should have sent it back because it was horrible. It was the worst steak we've ever been served in an restaurant, EVER Our fault. Manager came over and looked at it. Without admitting it they knew it was a mistake. Clearly not a ribeye and no marbling. Offered us dessert. Charged us for the steak that was incorrect. Thank you for the gesture but coming here 3 times and majority of the time there is an issue we can't enjoy ourselves and it's hard to come back. It ruined our time and overall experience. High quality cut of meat, it was very tender. Nice ambiance for a date, however, it is very garlicky. It tastes divine. It came with broccolini and mashed potatoes, both excellent. The setting is quaint, dim lighting, romantic. It's in a historical building/rustic charm feel. The service was on point. The waitress was kind and attentive. My honey brought me here for a birthday dinner while I was visiting and I was so pleasantly surprised. Our server Sierra, was an absolute gem. Kind, attentive, knowledgeable of the menu, and she gave great recommendations. She also made our cocktails which were delicious and well balanced. We tried the prosciutto wrapped goat cheese dates for novelty and the calamari as our appetizers. The dates were incredible and I could honestly eat an entire bowl of them. The texture of the calamari was perfect! Not rubbery and not just breading either. For dinner, I tried the crab and lobster risotto which was divine and he had a steak with a few sides. Everything we ate was amazing. We dined upstairs which is a little more secluded than downstairs but still so fun. The ambiance of Mabella is beautiful. It's dimly lit and feels so romantic! If you're in the area I would absolutely recommend trying this place out. It's great for special occasions or just a nice Friday night out. I would also recommend making a reservation! They forgot my husband side disg which was bajed potato. Brought to him when he finished his neal. The potato tasted terrible. It was reheated at least once. 160$ for reheated pptato?
