This place is a great find in Columbus, GA. Located in an up and coming area on Broadway and near the river, Gabagool has a great vibe and feels right in and among the other industrial style brick buildings that have turned into great venues and restaurants. I was eating alone and sat at the bar and the server was respectful, attentive, and took my order quickly. The main reason this place drew me in was because of their menu emphasizing "home-made pasta." Anytime i see this in an Italian restaurant, I am going to because I've been searching for a restaurant to even come close to the homemade pasta my wife and I had in Florence, Italy. So in an effort to find that dish, I ordered the Bolognese. It wasn't exactly that true Italian bolognese that is closer to a stroganoff, but it was good. The dish has a great balance in the sauce-to-beef, and their homemade pasta was cooked perfect. I also ordered a side of their string fries with aioli. These were not as good as the main dish, they came out a little cold and lacked knock out flavor. Overall, I think this is a great spot, not just for an Italian place in Columbus, but for a true, homemade pasta experience. Every pasta dish I saw looked great and I loved the ambiance. This is located in the downtown district of Columbus. Figured we give it a shot. It was a trendy looking spot, you can tell it was going to a tad pricey. I wasnt wrong. Inside was a nicely decorated. And there was a large patio for dining outside. Our server was very friendly and had a great personality. Our table was alittle small and due to its small width, you had to sit pretty close to the wall. We got the cheese stick app , she got the meatballs with a substituted side of Brussels sprouts. 2.00 upcharge. We both agree that the cheese stick wouod of been better by itself. The red sauce for the cheeses ticks and the chicken parm, I believe we're the same sauce and I found it to be a little sweeter than I prefer. As far as cost. Delicious! I have been wanting to try Gabagool since they first opened, but it has taken me a minute to get there. When you walk in the atmosphere feels cozy and like a new age Italian. Service was 100% on point. Our server made jokes, recommended both drinks and dishes, and offered options like both marinaras for garlic bread. The chicken parmesan was so good. The portion size was huge. Pricing is also pricey so the fact that you get bigger portions and leftovers in our case was really nice. Really enjoyed this place! Went with some friends. Waitress was great and had awesome suggestions. I ordered the chicken gnudi. Gnudi is similar to gnocchi but made out of cheese instead of potatoes, yum!!! Vodka sauce was with my dish and was really good. I grabbed a mezcal cocktail which was very well balanced. My friends got the steak and salmon. The shiitake mushrooms on the steak were excellent! I also had a taste of the risotto that came with the salmon, absolutely delicious!! The food is so good and fresh!! I got the gabagool sammy and chicken parm. As well as a menu special dirty filthy martini and their house draft, peroni. The Peroni is an IPA if anyone cares. I wasn't expecting that but I also didn't ask. It was still good. The sammy was massive and the fries that came with it had melting freshly grated parm on them the chicken parm was filling and flavorful. Chicken parm was super tender, just crispy enough, and radiatore is divine. The crab bucatini was just spicy enough, creamy, and fresh. I started the evening with an Aval Rosé Cider and a side of Rosemary Fries. The fries were quite tasty, but I didn't get a lot of rosemary. That being said, I'd get them again. For my entree, I had the lasagna and a glass of Barbera. The lasagna was really lovely. They were four to five lasagna rolls in a bolognese sauce with whipped ricotta, and I was wondering if there was also some of the gremolata in it because I got some hints of lemon zest. The flavors were fantastic. I had the tiramisu for dessert. And wow, it was amazing. It was served in a Gabagool glass, and the layering was perfect, the ladyfingers tender and flavorful. I want to come back sometime and try the Osso Bucco. I sat at the bar, and the bartenders were very attentive. The only constructive I would offer is that the bartender asked if I was interested in dessert when I was barely halfway through my entree. Not a big deal, but it's generally better to wait til you've cleared the dinner plates. The decor is stylish, and it's the kind of place I would visit again. read more

Lately I rarely feel the energy to leave a review after I leave an establishment but I've been in town for a funeral and I've had no luck in finding a great damn cocktail in this area with amazing Service until today. I was up the road at Mix Market and the drinks sucked and they had no mezcal. I have been on the hunt for Mezcal cocktails and luckily one of the reviews here was a picture of a Mezcal marg so I came running !! Richard was bartending, his empathy, service, cocktail knowledge and just overall outlook on product awareness far exceeded anything I've encountered in a while. This place is a hidden gem ! The cocktails are amazing !!! I had their infamous olive Oil infused gin martini, their prosciutto infused Mezcal Bloody Mary, their espresso martini ( added cream) with enhanced salted caramel, their Mezcal passionfruit margarita, the mustache drink!!! Their chicken parm entree and their white chocolate cheesecake omg !!! I want to go back tomorrow, but Richard said Tuesdays is the only day he serves and doesn't Bartend so if I come back I may need to reserve a table ! The manager was amazing and made sure to stop periodically to check on us and give his input on his fave dishes. If you haven't been here you need to immediately!!! I told myself I was done with Yelp and leaving reviews after I was reprimanded for leaving my honest review on a business prior and yelp removing it , but this place deserves all the great positivity coming their way. Definitely add this to your bucket list. Most drinks were around $13.00 . Nice atmosphere. It is loud inside like a lot of the other downtown restaurants due to the acoustics of these old buildings. Service was attentive but not overly so. We had a party of 6 and they very accommodating while we waited for one person to be able to get there. Apps were all great. Mozzarella sticks, Ricotta Toast and Pizza Rolls. The pizza rolls were my favorite. The Ricotta Toast needed a lot more bread for the amount of ricotta spread that you get. They did bring more when we asked but even after bringing more there was still some left. I had the Swordfish Picatta. I did enjoy it. However the reason I like piccata is the lemon flavor and it did not have very much lemon flavor. Other members of our party had the meatball parmesan, chicken parmesan, carbonara and the chopped salad. Everyone enjoyed their meals. My son got the grilled cheese sandwich from a non-printed kids menu. I do not recommend you get this. I did not realize it until we were in the car driving home and he told me "the sandwich was made for beavers". I was so excited to finally try this place so I made a reservation for my birthday dinner with my husband and our friends. First, the service was wonderful. My pesto pasta was pretty good and the rosemary fries were great. My husband loved his espresso martini. My husband and friends said their pasta dishes were just okay. I tasted my husband's lasagna and I also just thought it was okay. The garlic bread had very little garlic flavor and the pizza "rolls" were bland and had very little filling so those were disappointing. Our main complaint was simply the heat. I don't know what was going on with the air conditioner last night but we were uncomfortable and drenched in sweat when we left. We couldn't wait to get out of there and it was actually cooler outside than it was inside the restaurant. It just made it very difficult to relax and enjoy ourselves. This is our first time here and we will most definitely be back! The service was spot on our server was very attentive without being hovering. The hostesses were very accommodating, we made a 9:00 p.m. reservation got here early and they were able to see us 35 minutes before our reservation time. I can't speak enough about the food! I had the crab rigatoni with a side dish of spinach and article choke risotto my husband had the chicken parm and a side order of their Friday plant. We also had amazing mixed drinks. I had an espresso martini, which is the best I've ever had my husband had Long Island iced tea as one of the best he's ever had and he's a Long Island iced tea snob. They also have an orange cello cheesecake Martini that is super delicious. And the orange cello is made in house. You get the opportunity, come to Columbus downtown and try gabagool! Finally got a reservation and was able to try this new establishment upon entry. You see a clean warm inviting sophisticated environment. Our waitress seemed a little standoffish and I think it's because of our outfits were not dressed up like business casual like everyone else, but he eventually warmed up to us when he seen how much we were ordering the mozzarella stick appetizer is very good. The hot honey drizzle just adds another depth of flavor that you don't normally expect. Would've liked a little more seasoning on the mozzarella breading though. The mussel appetizer we don't need to get again. They just did not taste at all fresh. There was a lack of seasoning. There was some weird hunks of unknown in there me and my husband, both bit into a piece of whatever it was, it disintegrated in our mouth, but left a very appalling nasty flavor. So won't get the mussel appetizers again. The chicken Parm was out of this world. The unique pasta really grabs a hold of the sauce with sauce is superb definitely has a lot of originality to it. The chicken cutlet was cooked to profession the breading again lack some seasoning would like to see a little more pizzazz in the breading of the cutlet itself, but overall a nice dish with character. The lemon mafaldi was something that I've never had before. It had such a weird creamy lemon lusciousness that made it so unique that it just made me keep going back for another bite. The best chicken cutlet I've had in a while, but again lacked some seasoning in the breading, but that lemon cream sauce on the pasta was just something you cannot describe you just have to try it for yourself. Definitely would go amazing with a egg yolk on top and some fresh cracked black pepper. I think would set it over the top. The bottom being drink I don't need to order again. I was not a fan of the price for the size. It just did not taste what I was expecting the Italian stallion. My husband said was very good. Had a great balance of flavor just really small drink for the price. Now the real kicker- the lemon cello cheesecake martini is out of this world. I think I ordered four or five of them. They were amazing by the creaminess the lusciousness, but a little bit of tart at the end that could be served in a pitcher. It was so good! For the desserts, the tiramisu was very disappointing. It wasn't served as traditional tiramisu. It's like they cut it all up, mush it with a bunch of whip, whipped cream and threw it in a glass, I just took away from the presentation and what tiramisu actually is specially compare compared to the main courses. It was very disappointed and it had hardly any flavor of coffee. No Ladyfinger taste just overall not very ecstatic about the tiramisu. The cheesecake will give you diabetes. That cheesecake was wild so dense impact with so much sugar how do we known it would've been like that we probably wouldn't have ordered it just cause we were hoping for a more traditional Italian cheesecake to critique, but not taken away from the flavor that the menu described it definitely had the exact description down. Overall may come back to this establishment to try some more menu items and now we know to stay away from a few. read more

They crowd in so many diners that my wife got hit in the head by waiters several times as they tried to navigate the aisles. We want this place to be successful. Decided to give this place a try during a day trip to Columbus and it was exceptional. The place itself was very cute and clearly had a lot of thought put into it. The service was great and the food came out fast. The manager even approached us to make sure everything was going well. The food was delicious. I was skeptical at first about the sandwiches, but the Gabagool sandwich blew me away. I also ordered a chicken parm and their new pasta was such a unique experience! You should also try some of their drinks. I tried the Bada Bing (alcoholic beverage), which came in the cutest glass Diet Coke bottle. We ordered a few appetizers -- the ricotta toast and brussel sprouts -- and a Gabagool pancake to share -- all were so amazing! I normally favor thin, crepe like pancakes so was super surprised at how much I enjoyed this large thick pancake. Honestly best I've ever had. I ordered the breakfast pasta and was not disappointed - creamy and perfectly balanced - and portioned enough for me to enjoy the next day as well. My husband ordered the Gabagool Sammy - another big hit - especially the fries! My sangria was spot on, our server could not have been better -- and I am looking forward to my next visit already. Gabagool hits the spot! Owners also own Animal Farm and it doesn't disappoint. Friendly staff, awesome food, and great community to talk to when you're sitting at the bar. The locals love it. Went on opening night and it was a joy to be part of their first official night. Went again later that week to bring some friends by. The retro Italian decor crates a great ambiance. You can dress up or go there casually. For you Diet Coke fans, that Bada Bing is fantastic! You won't regret it. On graduation days or the weekends, highly recommend to make a reservation. read more

We had the most PHENOMENAL dinner here, and are still talking about it! The portions are large and could easily be shared, which is what we opted for. We were recommended to try Gabagool by some locals we chatted with while petting their super amazing dogs - once he showed us a pic of the chicken parm, we knew we had to make it happen! Came in for an early dinner on the Saturday before Easter and immediately got a table - however, the bar was full and the entire restaurant quickly filled up so I think reservations are a good call. We went with the fig & burrata salad as I've been on a burrata kick - this was an amazing, light, and perfectly mixed balance of textures and flavors! We then split the chicken Parmesan and it was just as delicious as it looks!! Perfectly cooked (chicken routinely gives me the ick so the fact that there was not a single bite of that chicken that didn't look like it was from a magazine is wizardry in my opinion!) amazing taste - the pasta and pasta sauce served with it was hearty and delicious. I haven't stopped craving this dish again since we ate here! I love that you can order a side of JUST their specialty pasta from this dish also, as we considered doing that if we were still hungry - it wasn't needed!
