Cream of asparagus soup
Jacob C.

A nice neighborhood French bistro with classic dishes like French onion soup, boeuf bourguignon, magret de canard, frog legs, etc. The food was good and reasonably priced. They have a solid cocktail and wine list. Our server was attentive and our meal was coursed nicely. Indoor seating is a little cramped and could be loud at times, though there is also very charming patio seating available.

Ma Maison is my fiancé and I's favorite French restaurant! It's always at the top of our list when deciding a restaurant for special occasions. I've also never had anyone tell us they do not like the restaurant once they try our recommendation. It's a small, cozy, dimly lit restaurant located at a corner near MGH. Street parking may be tough but there are garages around. The hospital garage may be a bit pricey; I believe the restaurant can validate for another garage nearby. Our must order items from the menu include seared foie gras (5/5), duck magret a l'Orange (5/5), escargot (5/5), french onion soup (5/5, and steak tartare (4/5). I love using their bread to dip with the escargot and eat with the foie gras as they do not come with carbs. During my last visit, I tried the boneless short ribs Bourguignon, I felt like it was a bit dry. I loved the potato croquette that came with the dish though, creamy on the inside with a crispy exterior. The meat did not fall off and melt, maybe it was just that one day. I will stick to ordering duck as my entree as it has never failed us and the cook and flavors are also supreme. Creme brulee is always great to end the meal! Service is alway is great, every server we've had were always attentive. We were given free champagne one year when we told them it was our anniversary too! Definitely a restaurant I will always recommend and visit every now and then.

That Tuesday soufflé... darn is that GOOD! This place is 5/5 again. The one note is that my mom's pasta that came with her meal did stick together as if it hadn't been tousled when being cooked. After she had everything else, even my difficult to impress mom LOVED this place. Generous portions, brilliant flavor, excellent service and a wonderful selection all contribute to this being one of Boston's absolute gems. Will be back.

Some of the best food I've had in Boston, possibly the best French food in Boston. Came here on a whim and was so happy to get a reservation, it's a very intimate space but we felt comfortable at our table. Food was superb from top to bottom and was also mostly gluten free which was a nice surprise for the gluten free member of our party. Very meat forward menu but extremely reasonable price for the quality and service. I was pleasantly surprised. Highly highly recommend for a nice dinner in basically the center of town within walking distance of the common

Hubby and I love you she had previously cheese soufflé and steak, which is the special on Tuesday night. She highly recommended it. She was right. She and I tried both. And it really was excellent. When eating steak you must dip it into the gravy at the very bottom of the container. Makes a big difference. We started with the lobster bisque which was split. It was nice and two bites of lobster in the soup, though not my favorite lobster fish, which is up to seafood in Salem. It was very nice and very good flavor. I ordered the chicken thigh with noodles and it was good. But not great and I wouldn't order it again. It is a very large portion and I was able to get two more meals from it. It was good, but not great. Hubby order the scallops, which were excellent and I would recommend them. That will be my order next visit. The dessert was spectacular. Hubby got the three scoops of sorbet and I had a giant profiterole which was quite large and really excellent. The only criticism I could have is that rather than a chocolate I'd rather be a thicker fudge type of topping. Our waiter was very good and very helpful, and able to remove all the dishes in one trip which was amazing also amazing was the warm bread to start out a nice Italian bread it was a big hit. This is a very small romantic place, and our table was quite small. We sat right next to the door. It was lovely. And definitely a special place. I would definitely return even though they didn't get the full 5 stars from me.

Ma Maison is a small cosy French restaurant on Cambridge Street. We liked the decor. I ordered the lamb with mashed potatoes & gravy and my friend ordered the Chicken Coq Au Vin with buttered noodles. We shared Crepes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream with an overly sweet syrup. I would skip that and order a different dessert next time. The tables are very close together and the restroom is tiny and the door is heavy. I had an Aperol spritz and my friend had white wine. The wait staff was fine. We didn't feel rushed at all. We enjoyed our visit there. It was different than the restaurants we usually go to.

Cozy French restaurant. We were in the mood for French onion soup. The soup has a very light broth. Full of onions, cheese and bread. Very good! Salad had a delicious dressing. We will be back.

One of Boston's hidden gems located in the Beacons Hill neighborhood. , Ma Maison offers an authentic French dining experience in an intimate and charming setting. The menu is small and thoughtfully curated, with each dish expertly prepared and full of flavor. The wine list is well selected, offering excellent value and pairings for the cuisine. What truly sets this restaurant apart is the warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly service.

Corn taste amazing

When I tell you the food is good trust me. My waiter name was SUNSHINE she was so helpful professional and polite. So if you love lobster this place is the best!!!! O yeah tell them Sandy sent you from Miami. The environment was beautiful. I love it will definitely come back!

If you're looking for a place that does classic French cuisine with care and consistency, this is it. They know how to cook a steak perfectly--flavorful, tender, and exactly how you order it. The menu is thoughtfully curated, with just enough variety to keep things interesting without overwhelming you. One highlight that really stands out is the flavored champagne. It's a fun, unexpected touch that elevates the whole experience--refreshing and just the right balance of sweetness. And whatever you do, don't skip dessert. The Grand Marnier soufflé is a showstopper: light, fluffy, with that warm, boozy orange flavor that hits all the right notes. It's the perfect way to end the evening. The space itself is on the smaller side, so it feels more intimate than your typical restaurant--almost like dining in someone's upscale home. It can get a little tight, especially during peak hours, but that's part of the charm. Parking can be a bit of a hassle if you're not familiar with the area. Street parking is limited, so I'd suggest heading straight for the paid lot a few blocks away--it's worth it for a smoother experience. Whether you're out for a romantic date night, celebrating something special, or just want a great meal in a cozy setting, Ma Maison delivers. It's one of those places you'll find yourself recommending again and again.

Managed to get same day reservations and this place did not disappoint. We were very happy with the food and the prices were very reasonable. The drinks were strong but worth the price so I would recommend the place. The server was attentive and the decor had a French feel.

The service is excellent, and each course of our meal was delicious. Right when we walked in, we felt like we were back in Paris.

Salad with fried goat cheese

The restaurant is a lovely little ode to downtown Boston with its charming little dining room, prep area in the back, and little bathroom with a super heavy door. The lunch service was very attentive. I got the salad with panko fried goat cheese and the lobster bisque. The salad, dressing, and fried cheese were vibrant and refreshing. The lobster bisque was decent but needed to be hotter and lacked a bit of flavor. Overall it was a great experience and I definitely recommend stopping in for lunch.

We arrived for our whirlwind 1 day Boston day with a few things planned. The Wig Shop was a spot I had earmarked as a maybe. On the way to Boston by train from New York, I read an article of great bars in all of America, and the Wig Shop had made their list. I showed my gal as we were in route to Boston, and we agreed that Karma was leading us there. I checked about a reservation, but ended up going over early to try and beat the walk in crowd. That worked out great, we had almost no wait. The place was full. There were alot of people enjoying the food menu, which we didn't plan on since we had dinner reservations elsewhere for later. But we got a couple of drinks. There are many types of speakeasies. The Wig Shop is one of favorite kinds, classy. The drinks were alcohol forward, with elegant presentations. It was perfect. It was nice that the universe pointed us towards this great Boston spot.

First, let's talk AMBIANCE! The space is BEAUTIFUL! Think speakeasy vibes, intimate atmosphere, and plenty of spots to capture some gorgeous pictures. It's giving moody, stylish, and picture worthy! BUT, selfie queens and kings, let me put you on game! It is DARK in there, so if you want those food pics and selfies to come out just right, bring a portable flash. You want to capture the experience without your pictures looking like they were taken during a blackout! LOL. The ambiance is definitely part of the experience, so come ready to enjoy the vibe and get those pictures! Now, let's get into this FOOD! The five cheese mac au gratin was AMAZING! The cheesy goodness was everything I wanted it to be. Five cheeses? YES, PLEASE! This dish was a standout and absolutely worth talking about. Now, the snapper? BABYYYY! Flavorful does not even begin to describe it. That gravy was so good I was practically SLURPING IT LIKE SOUP! When the sauce is that delicious, you do not waste a drop. The snapper and that gravy were a beautiful combination, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The Djon Djon was not my personal favorite, but hubby enjoyed it, and that counts for something! We do not have to agree on every dish to appreciate a great dining experience. My taste buds had their preferences, and his had his! Overall, this was STILL a FIVE STAR MEAL AND EXPERIENCE! Between the beautiful ambiance, the delicious food, and the opportunity to experience what this chef is creating, it was a memorable visit. I genuinely cannot wait to see where this chef lands next! I love discovering talented chefs, supporting their craft, and watching their culinary journeys unfold. Black Cat Eatery, you have my attention, and I will absolutely be watching for what comes next! Yelpies, if you get the chance to experience this residency, go with an appetite and an open mind. And remember, bring that portable flash if you plan on taking pictures!
