There are so many reason to praise the team at M Salon, I'm not sure where to begin. After moving from Boston to Maryland, I bounced around from salon to salon, not really finding someone that I was ready to make that very important hair commitment to. That is, until a couple of years ago when I started going to M. Now, as someone that changes her hair quite often and dramatically (blonde, dark, long, short), having a top notch stylist is pretty important. For the most part, I've gone to Nikki and let me tell you, she is awesome. She's professional, easy to talk to, and knows what she's doing. She's taken my hair from really, really dark to blonde and back. She's always given me stellar hair cuts. Honestly, I can't praise her enough. Due to my very whimsical, last minute hair decisions, I wasn't able to get in with Nikki last time. Again, I was taking my hair from really dark to blonde, so I was a little nervous about seeing someone else. I ended up getting an appointment with Brooke. Brooke was super responsive to what I was looking for, and didn't give me the "there's no way you can get to this" look. She mentioned that it would probably take multiple visits to get me to the shade I wanted, which I totally expected. She stayed super late with me, working tirelessly to get my hair to blonde without damaging it. Unfortunately, my hair was being stubborn and not completely taking to the transition. It was really brassy (which Brooke warned me about). I made a follow up for a couple of weeks to give my hair a break and continue the process, but I got super antsy once I got home and felt like I needed to get it to a different shade sooner rather than later. Again, this is no fault of the salon. I was going from almost black hair to blonde. I can't even put into words how amazing the customer service was. Due to scheduling, the owner, Marion ended up spending most of the following afternoon getting my hair to a beautiful blonde shade. On top of that, she trimmed and shaped my VERY thick and heavy hair so that it was more bouncy and easier to style. She went above and beyond fixing this situation without charging me and without making me feel uncomfortable about the situation. I mean, it doesn't get more customer-centric than that. As a whole, I've seen a few stylists for in-between cuts or blow drys, and always had a phenomenal experience. The salon is clean, professional, and honestly well-priced for the service you get. I would 100% recommend M salon to anyone in the Baltimore area. You will not be disappointed. read more

I moved from Buffalo, where I had the GREATEST salon (Vanity Salon of Buffalo, if you're ever in the area, and in need, go see Marykate or Alexandra! Queens, I tell you). But I was very skeptical about M, as I had already tried a few places in the Baltimore area, which disappointed me tremendously. But, I brought Kristen the hair stylist "color codes" for my bright red color (not typical in this city), she talked me through how she would convert it to a color to match mine, and, when the dye made it look copper before the wash out, she calmed my nerves by rubbing some of it off so I could see that what she had just done wasn't going to make me look like a penny. I'm sure I annoyed her through the process, having just left a salon in Buffalo that always exceeded my expectations, but she kept calm through the whole thing and never once did I feel like my anxiety over a new stylist/color line was a burden to her. She also gave me the greatest haircut that I have had in a long long time. I have gotten quite a few compliments already and have happily recommended. Kristen will be seeing me every 4-6 weeks, once I learn how this product line rinses out over time. read more

I booked a haircut with a particular stylist based on the reviews here. Unfortunately, the cut I got wasn't at all what I asked for or showed pictures of and it had random short pieces on one side. I waited a couple days and pondered what to do and I decided to call and see if I could get a 15 minute consult with Marion, the owner. I went in and talked with her and we decided I needed another cut to get it closer to what I wanted while the short pieces grow back. She squeezed me in the day before Thanksgiving. Even though we had already talked about what to do, she went over it again, pulled out some pictures and asked more questions. I was pretty nervous but when she started styling it, I could tell it was A LOT better and by the time she was done, I thought it looked fantastic. I went to the counter to pay and I was told there was no charge. Wow! That's the right way to stand behind your service. As far as the rest of the salon goes, it has a nice atmosphere, busy but not frantic, a broad selection of high-end products and complimentary wine and coffee. I have never allowed anyone to color my hair in any way until last April when I let Kimberly at M Salon give me partial highlights. She listened to me and made me feel completely comfortable about trying something new, without pushing me to go too far outside of my comfort zone. She custom mixed color and was attentive while the color set to ensure the highlights were subtle, like I asked. I loved the highlights! The cut looked amazing, too. I looked and felt glamorous- shortly after leaving the salon, I passed someone I know on the sidewalk and even with a hat on, he noticed and complimented my new look. Last month, I returned to Kimberly and let her do brighter, all-over highlights and a cut. Again, I loved my look and have received so many compliments! In nearly 8 years of living here, I haven't found a stylist who actually listens and delivers. Kimberly does both and gives advice and tips I trust - Plus, she doesn't mind when I make a mess of crumbs in her chair while snacking on the complimentary chips and crackers :o) read more

Oh my god! I can't say enough great things about this place. Honestly. I wad here for work and the day prior to my trip, a hairdresser in my hometown butchered my hair cut and the color, making me look yellow and washed up. I had never had my hair that short or dyed it ever in my life. So, it was a big deal. I was so incredibly unhappy that I immediately made an online appointment with M Salon, knowing I'd be there for work. They initially didn't have time but after explaining my situation, they found a way to get me in the next morning. From that point on, I was sold. Christina took care of me. She was hilarious, thorough, and so very knowledgeable. It was apparent she was well-versed and educated in all things hair. Not just talented, but literally educated. She knows the science behind it all, from the cuticles of your hair to all these other big words I don't remember. My point is, this is her passion. I walked into M Salon a defeated gal. I HATED my hair, and resorted to the messy bun look on a daily basis. On a whim and a prayer based off of a Yelp review, I booked an appointment online with Christina. GUYS. She saved my life and my hair. I literally told her to do whatever she wanted. I was a lost puppy with a few google images and a wish to be able to like my hair. I walked out LOVING it. We really discussed the cut and how it would look on me. Christina was full of helpful tips and hair science that would help me further understand what to do with it. And she gave me the most stunning cut. Conversation was comfortable (and I usually hate conversations with strangers) and fun. Most of all, after years of negative comments from hair stylist about this thick mane with a mind of its own, I found someone EXCITED to play with my hair. It made me so happy to see her get excited over my hair, telling me it was perfect and beautiful. It changed how I see my hair and I am forever grateful. read more

Okay so i'll keep this as short as possible- I had an AMAZING experience at M Salon. My appointment was yesterday and yes, I am that happy with the service I got that i felt I had to write a review. I saw the great reviews on yelp and decided I'd give it a try. Called in to do a consultation for a balayage/ombre coloring, and got paired up with Brittny L. I'm pretty sure everyone who works at M Salon is awesome, but I am just SO happy to have had Brittny as my stylist. I came to the consultation not sure what I wanted exactly...I basically showed her the pictures i pinned on Pinterest, and she gave me some great suggestions on what she would do/what would look great. ANYWAYS-- I cannot be any more happy about the results. LOVE LOVE LOVE my hair, and I've already gotten so many compliments. THANK YOU SO MUCH BRITTNY!!!! I have been going to the same colorist for sixteen years, when she unexpectedly came down with a hand injury, I had to find a colorist/stylist ASAP! I have blonde hair, so any blonde knows and understands how important their colorist is in their lives! I was told by many close friends, Brooke at M Salon is absolutely fabulous, not to mention, she has gorgeous blonde hair as well, so I knew she knows her color! I immediately sought after her! When making my initial appointment- Brooke was very accommodating. She was attentive to what color/ style I wanted and made sure I wasn't leaving her chair until the results were perfection! She did a full head of highlights, a glaze, and trim. My results were absolutely stunning! I was IN LOVE with Brooke's technique and talent as a colorist . She is a true artist. I recently had an appointment with Brittny Laudani at M Salon. Brittny was great. I called to have a (free) consultation, because what I wanted done to my hair was extremely complicated. I wasn't even sure that it could be done. She understood exactly what I wanted, and she made it happen. I was really nervous that my situation would be too complex, having bright, intense color highlights, but needing my very dark base color touched up and greys covered. I also asked her for very specific things in my haircut, all of which she did exactly as I asked. She was probably the nicest, and most attentive stylist I have been to. Not only did she listen to my hair needs, but in general conversation, she was just such a nice person, and I felt like VIP. To me, that is an extra-special quality of a salon experience, one that a person always kind of hopes for, but is actually quite rare. That deserves 5 stars from me! read more

My stylist Brittny L. is who I use at M Salon. I was referred by a friend who I knew wouldn't lead me to anything but amazing. She has helped me to completely change my look and give me the extra edge I was looking for. I've tried a couple salons around the area and am completely hooked on this salon and Brittny. Her color skills are on point- she's able get the job done in a timely manner without any mistakes. Not only does she make me feel amazing on the outside but on the inside as well- amazing person, so easy to talk to. Needless to say I've been recommending her to anyone I know who's looking to get their hair done. The salon overall is clean, modern and has great vibes. The front desk assistant always makes me feel so welcome and offers drinks or wine which I usually need after a hard days work! When I first moved to Baltimore, I made an appointment with Brooke at M Salon based on a recommendation from a friend. I was extremely nervous to try a new salon, as I was very much attached to my previous salon in NY. I have to say I am so happy I found Brooke!! M salon will be my Baltimore salon forever!! I change my hair often, whether it's balayage, dark brown to blonde, summer highlights, etc. I always come into the appointment with an idea of what I want my hair to look like, Brooke always makes me remember to be realistic with my expectations. I trust her expert advice, she always gets me to the look I desire while making sure the cut and color will compliment my skin tone, face shape, etc. Women ask me where I get my hair done all of the time! I was in Baltimore for business, and had a huge event to get ready for last minute. Brittny (correct spelling) was all set to go home and managed to squeeze me in. I've been to so many great salons all over New York City and have yet to find a stylist more precise and caring than Brittny. She is the upper echelon of colorists! I honestly am never satisfied with highlights 100%. Brittny gave me a full head of highlights and there wasn't a trace of uneven or darkened streaks, gold residue, and she stayed with me until the salon closed and we reached perfection! M Salon is one of the best salon's on the east coast and I was so pleased with my experience and results from Brittny, I refuse to see anyone else--and I live in Manhattan. Angie Braccia is the best stylist I have ever experienced! Speaking as a natural brunette, that has spent the last 15 years as a blonde, I have never found a stylist that can transform my hair the way she does. What more can a women ask for than an absolutely talented stylist who gets the job done to perfection in record time. Expensive is in the opinion of the beholder. I love that I can pay for two hours of parking and receive highlights that are so natural my husband forgets about that dull shade of brown I once rocked, an amazing cut and style that leaves me feeling sexy, stop in the back to have my brows shaped up and I still have time to order food from Mother's before my parking expires. A happy husband with a wife who feels sexy in my opinion is worth much more than the fees I was charged. Angie is truly the best. read more

I recently moved into the city and was looking for a new salon so I tried out M Salon. The salon is clean inside and the staff is very welcoming offering you complimentary beverages when you arrive. My stylist, Lindsay, was very nice and easy to carry a conversation with. Unlike some other people I'm not too picky with my hair; just want someone who can cut it straight across since I straighten my hair almost every day. Lindsay did a fantastic job and even added nice layers and angled the hair around the face for some definition. I will definitely be returning and using Lindsay again in the future. I only have a small complaint about the Salon and that is you cannot leave tips on a credit card - I did not know this and I never have cash on me so I had to walk down the block to the ATM to get cash out. read more

I've never written a review for anything but this was the first haircut I've ever gotten that didn't result in me completely devastated. I have extremely thick hair and had grown it out to my waist to where it had become unmanageable. I had no idea what type of cut I wanted, only that I wanted to donate the hair I cut, have it even and the ability to pull it back without it looking lopsided (yes that has happened in the past when someone thinned it out on one side only). Nikki was so kind and did an amazing job cutting 10+ inches off my hair and making it healthy and manageable again. I've been going to Brittny Laudani exclusively for two years now, and I absolutely love her and M Salon. I moved to Baltimore and had trouble finding a salon that fit my needs, until I found M salon. Brittny is so talented and has so much knowledge to offer. She listens to your needs and wants and is able to match that perfectly with a great recommendation. I see her for blonde highlights, hair cuts, and all sorts of hair extensions. Hair extensions are complex, but it's one of Brittny's specialities! I have been going to Lindsay for years and have always had a great experience! This past week I decided to go for a bold change and cut about 5 inches off and lighten my hair (mind you, I NEVER color my hair). Initially I was nervous but I trusted Lindsay's expertise, let her work her magic, and am in love with the results! The cut and bayalage color works perfectly with my facial structure and skin tone. I switched from Brocatos to here, after a move to Federal Hill from Canton. I am a returner, so you know it worked out well. I was very hesitant; however, my nerves quickly subsided after meeting Christina. Besides being a miracle worker, she is the absolute best. Had a great morning at M salon! As it was my first time getting my hair colored - I was a bit nervous that it wouldn't turn out as expected. Kristen took the time to listen to me and discuss what I wanted in a way that made me feel more confident about my decision. Additionally, she took the time to explain some terms that I was unfamiliar with - which I really appreciated as sometimes I find it hard to interpret salon terms - and did not make me feel silly for asking.
