I've been going to Corbin Salon for several year now. I followed my stylist, Erin, from her previous salon. The salon itself is super cozy with a modern, sleek interior. The seating is really comfortable, especially where it counts: under the dryers and washing bowls. The prices are on the expensive side but definitely worth it given the quality of product. I get a relaxer using their Phyto products. That combined with everything else the salon uses leaves my hair so soft and shiny. I've also gotten color done a couple of times and it always turns out great. Erin is the real reason I come to Corbin's. I moved to Virginia years ago but I drive back to Baltimore to get my hair done by her. She's so nice, funny and talented. I trust very few people in this world with my hair, and Erin is one of them. read more

My hair never looked so good! It has been an area of frustration in my life since it was ruined a couple times. I spent many years and thousands of dollars before anyone could even come close to this level of expertise in both style and color, but most importantly, the overall health of my hair. I followed their advice and got rid of products I was using before, like Kerastase, L'Oreal, that were only coating the hair, weakening it, and moved onto using products that are actually feeding the hair with valuable nutrients. I was in a pinch for a haircut in the last minute, and thankfully Corbin had a last minute opening for a long hair men's cut. My stylist Jenna couldn't be more personable, and friendly. Can't say enough good things about Corbin Salon and my stylist, Jenna. I've been coloring my hair and getting Keratin treatments for over a decade, but hadn't found a salon or stylist that made me want to commit beyond two appointments until I met Jenna. I'm finally done with Corbin. He has the priciest cuts in town and an attitude that's full of judgment. Lose the Holier Than Thou attitude. I can never recreate his styling, though I ask him repeatedly to explain what to do. But he's way too important to bother with the likes of me. My last and final cut left me fuming. He basically hacked off a section of the back of my hair. Also, the one thing I hate in a haircut is going above the nape of my neck. But that's what he did because he knows more than I do I suppose. Fuming! Then he had someone else blow it dry. What? I'm still paying his price. I pointed out the obvious problem with the cut. He told me there wasn't anything wrong with his cut. Bye! No. Fix it! So he made it look okay, but you could still see where it was a chunk just cut unevenly. Too bad. While I was waiting around for him to fix it staff members were congratulating me on standing up for myself. So he does this to others as well. They're to intimidated too complain. At least he could get it to curl under. But he used a small brush then told me I wouldn't need to buy one. After three attempts at home I can't get it to curl. The hacked off section sticks straight out of the back. I called the salon. They handed me off to the woman who dried my hair. I was asked to come in after he'd gone home. Everyone is afraid of him. I made an appointment at Corbin's new location because I had a Groupon and was in desperate need of a cut and color. I was surprised at how different the salon was from other places I've been. Each hairdresser has their own semi-private area and the salon doesn't have a chemically smell. I wanted an ombre coloring for my hair. Estella brought me a book of colors which we went over together. I could tell right away she had an excellent eye for color and that made me feel at ease. She talked to me about every step of the process and let me know exactly what she was doing and why. She even showed me how to style my hair so I could recreate the look at home. I was very happy with the color and cut and would recommend Estella to anyone. In fact I have. My mother has since gone to Estella and was in love with her new look as well. The only thing that took away from the experience is the shampoo chairs killed my neck and back. I'm tall and they just couldn't accommodate me comfortably. read more

Apparently this place is pricey but I dont really know. I came here as a hair model and got my hair cut for free. Now Let me tell you, I have been cutting my own hair for 3 years and it was interesting to see what they would do. Of course My hair was cut short (which i hate short hair) but they proved to me that i could love short hair! Corbin is incredible and understands how to make hair look fitting for your face. My only request was not to make my face look round. He did an A-semestrical look and the woman who was cutting my hair with his instructions was doing an incredible job, she even color corrected my hair color. I NEVER GO TO A HAIR SALON to get my hair cut. Every time i have it has been cut wrong and I was never satisfied. Understanding how i like my hair to look shaggy, my hair was cut in a way that I enjoy it still to this day. Its been a month or two and it has grown out keeping it's shape and still looks as good as it did when it was first cut. I just went to the Salon for the first time and received one of the best hair styles I've ever had with Jenna at Corbin Salon. I had a cut, color, and highlights. I went to the salon looking for changes in hair style and color and was very, very impressed at Jenna's ability to figure out exactly what I wanted and what was flattering for my hair type, face shape, and complexion. I wasn't much help in describing what I wanted, providing her with several pictures of movie stars with completely different cuts and color, but she was able to determine the best style for me. Jenna has been a stylist for many years, working with Corbin for over 12 years. I've tried lots of different salons over the years in Baltimore, and she is one of the very best. Jenna is incredible!! I've gotten so many hair cuts in the past at previous salons that have left me crying, and Jenna is the only person who leaves me overly happy with my haircut every single time. I go to school out of the area, and I don't trust anyone near my school to cut my hair like Jenna, so I always make sure to wait until I'm home for a haircut. A lady at Corbin Salon is BY FAR the worst haircut I've ever received in my life. I had long hair (5 inches below shoulder) nearly all one length except for some long layers. I asked her for long layers and told her I like to wear my hair wavy.. She gave me the grossest shag ever. I cried when I got home...I'm aware its only hair and it will grow. It just really sucks. It will take two years to grow out this mess. Im just left with super thin Waaaaaaay overly-layered hair. Its bun time! ugh. I think the only fix is a bob... I told the stylist exactly what I wanted and got exactly the opposite, as if she didn't hear a word that I said. I have waited a month to let myself cool off before writing a review to see if I still felt the sane way. I think that is fair. She basically did whatever she wanted, and I will suffer for the next year or so as this grows out. Don't become the victim of a stylist's "artistic vision" and have to live with a look that's too edgy, too high-maintenance or too plain-Jane. Go somewhere else. read more

Update: 6 months later I went back to use the other half of my Groupon and not only did my highlights still look as good as possible for having grown out 3 inches (I was getting compliments on them until the bitter end) but both Dawn and Karen remembered me! And I'm not talking a vague "oh yeah didn't you come in awhile back?" but as in asking how my boyfriend was (long gone), whether I'd been able to get out of the job I hated (yes!), and how my cat was doing. I was really pleasantly taken aback and never felt that special at a salon before. Couple that with another great haircut and perfect color and I think I may be a convert. read more

Had heard & read that Corbin (himself) was very good with short hair. After my DC guy retired I needed someone who could work with a short cut for very fine (but a lot of it) hair with many cowlicks, and a penchant for ending up going in precisely the wrong direction. I made an appointment for 10:30 and showed up on time after battling traffic from annapolis to barehills for over an hour. A receptionist seated me, and five minutes later came over to tell me Corbin had just called in sick. Who on earth takes until 10:40 in the morning to figure out they are too sick to work? I can speculate but wont. Not going back, that's for sure. read more

Like the other reviewer, I bought the Groupon and at first was a little nervous when I saw the demographics of the other clientele. But Karen put me immediately at ease. She is knowledgeable and has an excellent eye for color but also listened to what I wanted and adjusted the color according to what I requested . When I showed Dawn the picture of the haircut I wanted she explained that my current haircut made that impossible but we came up with a haircut that I liked and that would eventually get me to what I wanted. I went back yesterday for my second visit and was literally five minutes on the street after the appointment when someone stopped me and said they loved my hair. This place is the best hair salon I've ever been to. I had a balayage done with Estela yesterday and she was fantastic, she gave me such a natural looking bright blonde color. She really has an eye for balayage and placement of highlights and I am so relieved I have found a new permanent hairstylist. I woke up this morning and my hair looked so gorgeous which is such a nice change, usually after many hair salon disasters I wake up cringing at what's happened.. Then it's off to the drugstore for brown hair dye to cover it up. Not this time. Even my boyfriend says my hair is the best it's ever looked. (What more could you want ladies?!) She was so friendly and I never struggled for conversation with her, she is the sweetest! The salon itself is absolutely stunning and in a lovely location. Suffice to say I will be back.. Though I have never written a product/ service review before, I feel compelled to review my trip to Corbin so that other's might be spared the experience I had. The salon had no nail polish display to select from. I was given the impression that clients are expected to bring their own polish. Because I did not have any polish with me, I was directed to a coworkers desk drawer to find something to use. When I was taken back to the pedicure chair, there was a glass of water and candy wrappers sitting on the tray of the chair. I am assuming they were left by the client before me. It would only have taken the pedicurist a minute to clean up after her last appointment and it would have gone a long way in ensuring that my appointment got off on the right foot. It may sound silly but being welcomed with a mess didn't leave a good taste in my mouth and immediately had me questioning if the salon was clean. The pedicurist did a poor job taking off my old polish and an equally sloppy job applying the new. I left the salon with polish all over my toes. I was so unhappy with the paint job, that I ended up taking all the polish off when I got home. There was also nothing that stood out about the pedicure. It felt rushed and barebones. There was minimal massaging, scrubbing, etc. I feel like all she did was take off my old polish (barely), trim my nails, and apply new polish. Not what I expect when I get a pedicure. The pedicurist spent much of the appointment trying to secure my future business, as well of that of my coworkers. For my first visit, I found this to be premature and believe her energies would have been better spent ensuring I had a good experience. The real kicker was when the pedicurist pulled out a Chipotle napkin and rolled it up to separate my toes. I have been to nail places that have used paper towels or cloths as toe separators, so I don't take issue with a salon using something other than foam separators, but I found using a Chipotle napkin to be unprofessional and off-putting. It again had me questioning the professionalism and cleanliness of the salon. This was definitely one of the worst pedicures I've ever had. I had a hair appointment scheduled for later this week that I will cancelling. After the experience I had, I don't want to chance being unhappy with my hair which will be harder to remedy than a bad pedicure. read more

I have been driving to Potomac to get my hair done for about 15 years...ridiculous I know, but I'd tried a few salons in Baltimore and was always very disappointed. I am happy to say that my commute is now about 8 minutes after discovering Estela at Corbin. She just gets it. I have long highlighted blonde hair that hasn't felt this healthy in a long time. She uses the lowest volume bleach so that my hair stays soft and shiny and I still get the bright blonde color I love. I don't know about you girls, but have you ever found that a hairdresser is good at color but not at cuts? Well not Estela - she gave me a long, layered, sexy cut that is the best cut I have gotten in years! Not to mention that she's as sweet as can be. I can't say enough wonderful things about her. I needed a change from my old salon and I wanted to try something new. After pouring over salon and stylist reviews, I made an appointment with Estela from Corbin Salon, and I was so glad I did! I was nervous because I had never met her nor seen her work in person, but yelp did not steer me wrong. I gave her some vague instructions (professional, but trendy and young), and she took it from there, giving me a cut that I love and even teaching me how to style it quickly with a curling iron for that awesome-waves-without-even-trying look. The price may seem a little high, but in my experience, it's average compared to similar salons in Baltimore. I will definitely go back! read more
