This would be a zero star review if Yelp allowed it. I can't speak to the owner's ability to do…read morehair, judging from those reviews she seems to do great. I can only speak to her professionalism and how I was treated as a customer. Number one she changed my appointment time the day of to two hours later. Secondly, she has a policy that was not visible on her Styleseat page at that time, nor Instagram, nor Yelp where customers are not allowed to bring anyone with them to their appointment. So if you're a parent bringing your child in to get their hair done, you'd have to leave your child with a complete stranger, based off of her logic. I arrived 5 minutes ahead of schedule, she unlocked the door, didn't greet me and immediately asked my male friend if he was getting his hair done. He laughed, and I introduced myself to her and she immediately told me that he's not allowed in because she's been robbed and/or someone tried robbing her in the past. Basically insinuating that my friend and I, could possibly be trying to rob her. I booked this through Styleseat so her fee was already deducted out of my account. Clearly I'm not there to rob you! When she first said this I thought it was a joke and laughed a little myself, but she persisted with the robbery talk then said her other customers don't always want to get their hair done around strangers due to bald spots and so forth. She then asked me if I would want somebody's husband sitting in her salon while I'm getting my hair done. I told her that wouldn't bother me at all, because I personally don't have that type of insecurity. FYI, there was no one getting their hair done at the salon at this time. Then she tells me that she doesn't need my money that bad and that I should leave and she'd refund my money, which she did. I know a little about the law and I told her that not allowing someone to come in because you've been robbed before is illegal, that's discrimination. Her response was "this is my business and I can do what I want." I guess she treats her business like it's her own fiefdom and thinks it's exempt from the law which is just flat out ignorant. You cannot discriminate against someone because they're Black and you were or almost were robbed by another Black person, then try to hide behind your zero guest policy that you didn't have anywhere on your site nor did you inform me on when I initially got the salon number from Instagram. This "policy" wasn't on Instagram either. All in all, I found her to be totally unprofessional, discriminatory, and just not a pleasant person. Especially not one that I'd want touching my hair after the fact. She acted like she didn't want to be there in the first place, which I'm guessing is why she needed to switch the original time to two hours later. I would not recommend her to anyone and would say to steer clear of this stylist because it could happen to you too with her suspect way of picking people who are more or less likely to rob her. Find someone that's professional and treats all customers with respect.

I wouldn't go to this salon again. It has been a while since I went to this salon. The stylist cut…read moremy hair in a style that was shorter than I wanted it and didn't offer to shape up the back of my hair until I asked her to. The environment of the salon is cold and outdated. She was so focused on trying to sell me a bundles of hair but missed out on the part of having good customer service.

I watched a video of several employees shave their heads as they shaved a woman's head due to her chemotherapy. As a woman that just finished chemo I can tell you how heart warming this was. I had to literally beg someone to make eye contact with me so that I could properly communicate to them that I was a customer who was obviously there for a hair cut. The guy who I was originally there to see (by appointment) was very busy and behind schedule because his coworker who literally...watched money walk out the door ...disappeared on him for about 30 minutes after finishing his client. He then proceeded to say that nigga don't want this job. As I continued to wait 40 minutes passed by my appointment time. I was asked by the guy I was supposed to see if I wanted the guy who didn't even have enough intelligence or customer services skills to speak if I wanted him to cut my hair? ...Why would I pay for someone who clearly has lack of ambition to work , let alone make money. Even after he was made aware that I was waiting. Furthermore I made an appointment with you so where's the common sense in that? During the time I waited, there was No Professionalism. NO TEAM WORK, Random Conversation, Lack of Decorum, And lack of communication. To me these guys seem more concerned with what was playing on Netflix or what they are eating for dinner other than actually getting to the bag . I expected better from my people but I guess you can't give Class to the Classless. To anyone who might be reading this review please know...this shop is not worth the money you spent on the piece of gum you stepped on ,that is now at the bottom your shoe. #ThankYouNxt!

I have been searching high, low, instagram, and word of mouth for someone to do my hair…read more I'm natural and there are a few things that are on my list for a braiding stylist: 1. How will you protect my edges? 2. How will you react when I tell you that they are too tight? 3. Do I have to buy my own hair? 4. Do you offer wash services? First, the way she answered the phone was so bright and cheerful. She answered all of my questions and luckily her afternoon appt canceled so I was in same day at 1 for senegalese twists. As I was walking through the door, her client before me was leaving. Her cheerful dispositipn on the phone is even better in person. Her spirit is just wonderful. She gave me a wash, blow dry (not on high heat!), trim, and after all of that a scalp massage. When I tell you I could have fallen asleep.... Her conversation was on point. Just enough convo but not too much. I let her work on my head and I watched tv. Let me touch on her skills. AMAZING!!! I said before that I like my edges. She expressed that she doesnt braid tight becaise she knows how it feels. All braiding stylists say that but Purity is the truth. She braids tight enough that they are secure but not so tight that there is tension everywhere, your head is inflamed, you need to pop all of the pills when you get home, and youre sleeping on your forehead for 2 weeks until they loosen. There was none of that. If one happened to cross that threshold she immediately took steps to make it better. Additionally, she checked in periodically to make sure I was all right. My braids are gorgeous! I love them so much! They are a little long for me but that's my fault, I didnt express the length I wanted. I was so excited and caught up in the scalp massage and conversation that I forgot to mention. This is definitely not her fault and I dont hold it against her. I need to give my hair a break from all of the manipulation so I am definitely going to visit Purity again and tell everyone I know. PS...she provided that hair.

She is the type of stylist who only books one person at a time and is very good at estimating the time it will take to braid/twist. Purity recently did my hair in Senegalese twists for a wedding. I arrived at her immaculate salon at 9 am, and she completed my hair at under 6 hours. The whole experience with her was amazing. We had delightful conversation, and she is a master braider who didn't put any unnecessary stress or tension on my hair at all but achieved beautiful results. Look no further, go to Purity!
