Pancetta eggs Benedict
Uriel R.

I went to M Henry around 11am on a Sunday. When you first enter the building, it looks like a cute little diner with a grab-and-go counter and a host stand off to the side. Despite it looking pretty busy, we had no wait at all to get a table for two. When you walk further back into the restaurant, it opens up and connects to a much larger space. For food, I ordered the strawberry rhubarb hot cakes. These were delicious, light, and fluffy! The sauce was slightly sweet and paired really well with the hot cakes. I also ordered the pancetta eggs Benedict. The flavors were great and intense, though the texture was very soft throughout each bite. It came with homestyle potatoes which were alright, but I definitely would have liked them a little crispier to help balance out all those soft textures. On the side, I had an iced latte with caramel and oat milk. Taste was alright for a latte but hits the spot if you need a quick pick me up during brunch. Overall, a very good local diner option in Andersonville with great seasonal menu options!

Food was good. I enjoyed the breakfast potatoes although some in our party felt they were pepper heavy... bring on the peppers from my perspective. Felt a little rushed as it was a Sunday morning but overall good. One problem however, the bakery area on the way out. Picked up some cookies that were also gluten free, so good! and the scones looked wonderful. Stay away if you're looking to eat light... lol

Wow--I absolutely loved this place! We were looking for a truly special breakfast experience in Chicago, and this spot delivered perfectly. I ordered the butternut squash soup, which was incredibly delicious, and paired it with a refreshing pomegranate mimosa. My companion went with a classic breakfast of eggs, bacon, and sourdough toast, and we also shared one of their tofu salads, which was excellent. The entire space is so cute, and the super friendly staff made the meal even better. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town!

Food good, but not great. Lots of breakfast options, both sweet and savory. We each had the 2 Benedict offerings (pro tip: ask for extra Hollandaise) and pancakes. Pancakes were a touch dry, but still tasty. Service was the standout, though. Super welcoming, quick with coffee refills, food drop off and bussing. Pretty decent place, tables are close together, which is only something to mention in wintertime (coats, hats, scarves). Love the Andersonville neighborhood, so this is just one of the many amazing local joints.

Food was really yummy and I really like the style of the restaurant. The service is really fast.

M Henry is a very popular brunch spot so be prepared to wait on the weekends as they don't take reservations. We got there around 10:30 with 3 people and we only waited about 10 minutes for a table which was really good! It's pretty big inside and always bustling. They have different types of mimosas as well as all the coffee and lattes. I ended up getting a London Fog, which was very good. For Sunday brunch, they have a separate special menu. I ended up ordering the potato knish benedict off this menu. I'm always so happy when a restaurant serves eggs benedict without meat! The potato knish cakes were yummy and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I think the only thing I would've added next time is avocado! But overall so good and the side salad they give you with the meal is very hearty as well.

Very cute and popular brunch spot in Andersonville! Service was lovely and we thankfully got there early enough (9am Sun) that we didn't have to wait but by the time we left around 11, there was a line out the door. The portion sizes were large and there's plenty of options for everyone to choose from. The food was tasty, but nothing that necessarily blew me out of the water. My favorite out of our dishes we tried were the blackberry blisscakes - the pancakes were soft and the cream in the middle paired perfectly with the fruit. However, the tortillas with some of our other dishes were a little too thick for my taste. Would still go back for a brunch with friends in the future!

Is it just me, or are 95% of breakfast places either coffee and croissants, or something loaded with fats, carbs, and hopefully some proteins. There could be four-and-a-half blueberries on top on the pancakes... but is this really material? No. Enter m.henry. There are two things I enjoyed about the Potato Knish Benedict. First, the hollandaise was enjoyable. Too many hollandaises are heavy on the acid, and light on the savory. m.henry's was towards the savory side, and not disguised lemon juice (or worse, vinegar). Only one other place I've tried thus far has been able to create a passable hollandaise is The Farmer's Daughter down in Easton. I have no complaints about the egg, other than eating them in this and age makes one feel like royalty, but I digress. The Knish cakes themselves were not my cup of tea. They are made of a blend of potato and fontinella cheese. This combination comes across as being sharper than I feel it needs to be. While I appreciate what they were trying to do, this is not a dish I would order again. The star of the show, out of left field, is the salad. The blend of veggies was well thought-out, and I enjoyed both the dressing and the way it was dressed. This salad is what made m.henry feel like a different experience that wasn't all carbs and fats. The vibe inside is that of a cute cafe, but larger. The service was attentive, and surprisingly fast considering how busy the restaurant was at the time. Finally, in light of the cost of everything (especially eggs), I think the prices were more in less in line with the market. Thus, m.henry does a unique breakfast well, the ingredients were quality, and the service was excellent. However, I don't feel the immediate pull to return that a truly great (i.e. 5-star) experience would give me.

This restaurant offered a good and filling vegan option for me, the gluten free mostly vegetarian. My only warning is that the portions are huge - I could have split it with another person, but that's a good problem to have I guess.

When you first come in you can't help but to smell the deliciousness. We were sat as soon as we walked in. They seem to have different specials each day so what you may see on someone's review may not be available when you go. Our server was pleasant. I had Jorge's black bean cakes with chorizo. The only downside to this dish is they didn't put enough chorizo on the tostada. The cinnamon roll French toast, was just that and delicious. I wasn't a fan of the breakfast bread pudding because it was all custard. The sweet taste was their but I wasn't expecting ALL custard.

Quiche
Emily T.

I have been wanting to come here for a while and made it out on a Saturday afternoon. No wait so that was great! Service was attentive and very kind. Food was very sub par. I got the quiche and my boyfriend got an omelette. The potatoes were cold and not crispy. Quiche was very flat and greasy. Honestly, I just did not enjoy the food at all, and I thought that it would be a lot more fresh. Disappointing.

Super solid spot! The portions were massive and service was so quick. I loooved the shrimp Benedict and the French toast, my friends also liked their hot cakes as well. We came with a group of around 7 people and didn't have too long a wait! Good for groups or couples, would recommend!

Are the soufflé pancakes a regular item? I don't see them on the menu.

No, it's not on their standard menu; it's a special.

The earlier the better if you don't want to wait. Anything close to noon time and you can forget about it!

How loud is it in here? How are interiors-is there good day light and is it lively or is it cozy?

🤔 it can get pretty loud at times. Not night club loud of course but having a good time friendly loud if that makes sense. Usually on Saturday or Sunday mornings. Interior is pretty bright as long as the sun is out. They have big windows. It's more…

Staff spoke English well. Customers included many westerners as well as the expected Asians. Chiu Quon is cash only, same as Feida across the street. I was generally quite excited about what I might find here. The name Chiu Quon 超群 is a 50+ years old bakery in Hong Kong (English name Maria's bakery). I was wondering if it had any association. Alas, no. Be that as it may, this Chiu Quon is a 1986 institution in Chicago Chinatown. So, they deserve their own applause. I was on a mission per a friend's request to find 'chicken little cookies' 雞仔餅 or as CQ calls it, Phoenix Cookies. That was the first thing I bought. Alas, my friend reported they are oddly sweet instead of savory. Well, each has their own family recipes. I did side by side comparisons with Feida. The CQ pastries are a bit more refined, prettier, a reasonable filling to crust ratio, but also smaller, less filled, and $0.25 more. Items we bought: - Wife pastry 老婆饼, filled with wintermelon filling (no chunks) - Red bean pastry 豆沙酥, a smaller flat round type - Crystal gel pastry 香蕉糕. This old school soft steamed glutinous rice mochi roll is now commonly vanilla flavor. Theirs have a bit of red bean inside. Their version was quite sweet. - Red bean filled pastry bar with walnuts. We liked this item the most. Plump, well filled with red bean, the walnut has a balance to the sweetness, minimum crust. We bought more to bring home. All items were around $2.50. I honestly like both bakeries and wish we have lower cost options at home.

Our family and extended family often ordered birthday cakes from them, and their mango cake was our favorite. When mangoes were in season, they used plenty of fresh mango in the cakes. Their cakes are always fresh, light, fluffy, and not too sweet. My daughter and I also love their individual cakes, especially the Black Pearl and Walnut Cake. Their pineapple buns and egg tarts are her favorites as well. Saint Anna has also been part of our daughter's childhood. When she was little, my husband used to bring her here before or after Chinese school in Chinatown on Sundays. Her go-to breakfast items were the Butter Bun, Ham and Macaroni in Soup, and Diced Ham and Corn in Cream Rice. As she got older, Curry Chicken with Potato became her favorite. She especially loved the potato cubes soaked in the delicious, mild curry sauce. She would always ask for more potatoes and less chicken, haha! Saint Anna is a family-run business, and Sara and Irene, the daughters-in-law, used to take care of the front of house. They were always so friendly and accommodating. After a 6-year hiatus, we finally returned one Friday recently when we happened to be in the area with a friend. Sara is now a co-owner, and it was wonderful to see her again. She immediately recognized us and was so warm and welcoming. She even asked me to relay her greetings to my sisters when she greeted us and again when we were leaving. Those little gestures made our return feel especially meaningful. We were still full from a big dim sum lunch, so my daughter picked up 2 Mini Pineapple Buns and 2 Paper-Wrapped Sponge Cakes, while I got a Red Bean Roll. Everything was fresh, soft, and delicious, and the total came to just under $8, really a great value. Our friend also purchased 2 Fried Sticky Rice Dumplings with Chicken. I had never really paid attention to their limited dim sum selection before, so that was a nice discovery. We love Saint Anna and will definitely be back whenever we're in the area.
