    Mussels!
    Erica D.

Definitely has more of a chain restaurant feel than other places in Paris, but the mussels were fast and delicious. Fries were average but went very well with the mussels. They also have great Belgian beer options on tap. Prices are reasonable! Would go again.

No frills mussel service in the heart of Paris. Reviews were mixed, but i can honestly say I'd return for the fantastic mussels they serve here. Several varieties to choose from. I recommend mariner, but the provencal looked great too. Served with unlimited frites. Every mussel was full, plump, and fresh. Zero dead ones (unopened) in the entire pot. Absolutely no sand or grit either. A rarity for stateside restaurants trying to put moules on the menu. Service was fast and friendly. Staff speaks enough English to make you feel comfortable. You could spend twice as much and twice the time trying to find another place, but why bother. If all you want is quality mussels to chow down, just go to Leon.

The Applebee's of France. If you don't mind chain restaurants or fast food, then this place is for you. The mussels were bland. The Le Léon cocktail tasted like medicine. The creme brûlée was okay, but it was not creamy enough for me. They do have free WiFi though. That was a big bonus.

Mussels in wine, onion, parsley. Yummy! Good portion!

I thought it was pretty good for a late night dinner. Had the mussels in wine, onion, parsley (moule a la mariniere), and it was delicious. Ample portion of mussels enough to share with another. The liquid on the bottom was great with the free bread. The mussels came with fries, but I didn't care for them. Also had the appetizer fried dish board (la planche Leon) and the mussel and calamari were so tender and yummy with lemon sauce and tartar sauce. I didn't like the small fried fish as much. But can't go wrong with fried foods! I also liked the vibrant lighting, casual setting, and nice waiter. Had menus in English too.

If you're looking for mussels and fries, you've arrived at the right place. If the xxl size is available, just go for it. Not the best mussels on the planet but for a chain it's pretty damn good. Early dinner meant a quiet environment, had the Marinière and the crime champignons. A+. Staff was very nice. Remember to tip. While not necessary it's customary.

We came here for dinner on a Sunday night after a long day of walking around Paris. We chose to have "moules a volonté" & we paid the supplement of €4 to have the full range of flavours!! It was delicious - pot after pot of steaming tasty mussels. Alcohol is a little expensive here though!

I love their food. Its delicious and the portions are great compared to the price. The only thing to be careful about is the branch you choose to eat at. I tried the one in republique and it sucked. However the one in Saint Germain is one of the best.

I didn't expect much since it's located on probably the most touristy street in Paris. But it did fulfill my craving for mussels, even if it was on the blander side. The prices weren't bad considering this restaurant is surrounded by the most upscale fashion houses in the world...but at the same time, I was hoping for a more luxe experience.

Wow, I'm astonished that I haven't rated Léon de Bruxelles yet :O This is only my second time, though. I'd give 5 stars for the food, but 2 stars for the service (at this location, at least). I enjoyed my experience here both times, but my food and my company were definitely the redeeming factors. Good things first, because it's more likely that you'll read those :p PROS + It's a very large restaurant, so even though it's pretty popular, you're very likely to get a seat. And it's good for large groups and children. + They're open every day, including Sunday evening! And you even get mussels à volonté (unlimited) on Sunday evening. What a steal :O + There are a ton of choices for mussels and beer. I've never gotten the beer, but the mussels are great. I especially like the moules à la méridonale (mussels smothered in tomato sauce, cheese and pesto, mmm!). + They have an English menu, and speak English fine, if you need it. + Portions are very generous. If that one plate of moules à la méridonale isn't enough, you can get another plate for only 2€! Incredible. + Unlimited fries! And depending what time/day of the week you come, you can get other unlimited goodies. :D CONS + Bad service #1: I came here for Christmas with two friends. One of them didn't speak French, so we spoke in English and got the English menus. The waiter put these red ribbons around our wrists, and when we asked him what it was for, he mumbled incoherently something about Christmas. Okay, cool ... However, at the end of the meal, we found out that we each got billed 1€ for the charity bracelet. I'm definitely not opposed to charity (and it was only 1€), but I would've very much appreciated it if he had told us what it was for. I was shocked by this behavior because I've only heard of it as a tourist scam in the touristy areas of Paris. + Bad service #2: My friend got moules à la cocotte (steamed in wine) and I got mine à la meridonale. His came steaming hot, but to my surprise, mine was cold. It wasn't cold as in just-came-out-of-the-fridge cold, but the cheese had congealed and it just didn't taste very appetizing. I was seriously displeased. After four mussels, I couldn't stand it anymore and broke through my normal politeness to ask them to reheat it (please). It came back a lot better. + The Belgian waffle was pretty disappointing. Nothing like a real Belgian waffle, and really nothing spectacular at all. In fact, it was overcooked and tasted slightly burnt. Overall, I'd recommend checking the site (you can get 10€ off for dinner if you go with at least one person) which will tell you which days have good deals. Sunday night should be excellent :) Don't bother with the formule; the mussels are filling enough. If you really want dessert, get one from Pâtisserie de Rêves nearby or something. If not for the bad service, I would really, really like Léon de Bruxelles. Perhaps I should try another branch. After all, unlimited, delicious fries? You're halfway to my heart already.

The menu may be a bit confusing, but our server cleared up any questions. (a la carte vs prix fixe) We started with a complimentary terrine with gherkins and onions which were delicious. I had the Brittany scallops in a pesto and citrus dressing topped with parmigiana reggiano - absolutely amazing! Mains were the braised beef cheeks which were melt in your mouth and a tender roasted veal. The smoothest puréed potatoes and a crispy potato gaufrette were perfect accompaniments. It's clearly popular with the local student population for the drinks, but we decided to have dinner here because I was really craving some moules frites, which I saw was one of the popular dishes here. We started with the shrimp and avocado salad to share, which was simple yet fine. It was a really hot evening so we didn't want too heavy a meal. My mussels were quite good, small and tender, a very generous pot and well-cleaned/cooked (I don't think there were more than 1 or 2 unopened ones in the bottom.) I could have used a little more broth with them, but a minor quibble. My sweetie got the steak au poivre; our waitress first asked, "Well done?" (I guess they assume that's what Americans want? The horror!) to which I said no, make how the chef likes. It came out perfectly medium rare with an excellent crust, and sweetie declared it the best steak he'd had anywhere in a long, long time. Dessert was "pineapple carpaccio", which was fine for a really hot night, but for 7.50 Euro I would have expected a bit more than three slices of pineapple and some whipped cream. Still, overall we had a very good meal and I'd go back for the drinks, the mussels, and that steak!
