Great food, large portions and the price is worth it ! The staff are friendly and even explained the menu well and the place is clean and organized .

One of our best meals in Paris. They were easily able to accommodate our party of 16 upstairs. Excellent service by Dina and Ana!! Very personable and accommodating giving great recommendations. The food was delicious and portions were large enough to share. Had the seafood soup before my main meal of steak and shrimp on a skewer and could barely finish it all!! Great ambiance to boot! Highly recommend this place if staying in the area.

Catalina de la mer = two kinds of shrimp, mussels, grilled squid, langostino and lobster + seafood soup w/rice, paella like but more broth

Overall, this place rocks. Ambiance reminds me of small cantina in Spain and even in Mexico,, rustic and not overly done. Please be mindful that many of the waiters and waitresses do NOT speak English, so the menu contains pictures for you to order easily. And with the portions are huge. We ordered the half size Cataplana de la mer so dont be shocked of the food on the platter; 1/2 dozen oysters and a bowl of soup each. Food comes out quick but you'll need some time to finish all that food, luckily we're in Europe (Paris) and 3+ hour dinner are the norm here! I look forward to coming back with friends next time in Paris!

Pedra Alta is our absolute go to seafood restaurant whenever we come back to France! This is a Portuguese restaurant chain, they have several locations inside Paris and in the suburb. Despite being a chain, the seafood is always very fresh and delicious! During our workout days in France we went to their different locations three times! The seafood platters there are incredible and very affordable compared to what you can find at other restaurants. We usually order two large platters to split among 5-6 people even though they suggest 2 people per platter. We tried several times and a platter is definitely enough to feed 3-4 people depending on your appetite. They have many different platters, some with more of raw/cold seafood such as fresh live oysters, clams, and cold cooked lobster, crab and whelks. Some other platters have hot grilled seafood. They are all pretty good and we usually get one platter of the raw/cold seafood and one platter of grilled seafood to share at the table. We also have occasionally ordered their bone-in ribeye steak which is also great, very tender and cooked to perfection. The sea bass offered there is décollais as well! They offer affordable wine and pitchers of sangria to share with the table as well. It's always a great time at Pedra Alta, the only downside of their popularity is that you often have to wait a long time for a table especially if you have a large party, and service can get a bit behind because they are so busy but otherwise this is an excellent choice for seafood lovers!

The food was good. The staff were professional and the drinks were stiff. When I return back to Paris, I will be back.

This place is everything everyone has already said and so much more. I flew to Paris just to have lunch at this place. There was a woman at the next table who apparently did the same thing. She had an entire table with enough food for 5 but was eating by her damned self and was proud of it. She's my hero. My hubby and I ordered the seafood combo platter for two. It was around €80. There is an option for a larger platter for 3 people for €112. Each platter comes with an amazing seafood risotto and tiny crispy fries and also a plate of large fries. I think the platter for two can probably feed 4. We also ordered some sort of steak that the waitress recommended. It was towards the back of the menu and was €29 for one portion which was also pretty big. We thought the steak was just ok and could probably skip it in the future. We loved the seafood platter. There were several types of shrimps. Skewered and cooked in garlic and butter. Large prawns that were grilled. Lobster. Stone crab legs and some sort of crab egg salad that they served inside the crab shell as well as mussels cooked in garlic. The platter also came with a huge skewer of squid with bell peppers. There must've been at least 8-10 whole baby squids. My favorite was the seafood risotto. It was so seafoody and good. I knock off a star for the overpriced sodas. They were close to €5 a small bottle/can. The sodas and water alone cost us almost €30 which was a bit surprising considering how reasonably priced the seafood platters were. So just be aware of it. All in all, we still think this is an awesome place with huge platters, good service and good food. We will definitely be back the next time we are in town.

This place is outstanding! Huge sharing portion. Seafood was fresh good. This is a must go for seafood lover. The price is reasonable too.

This is the most amazing seafood place that I have ever been to. I got a giant platter of lobster, crab, prawns, oysters, clams, mussels. Huge platter of fries for about 42 euro. I couldnt eat it all. My wife got awesome shiskabob of steak and prawns for 22 euro. Not a giant place. We were lucky to get in. Service was slow but i have been told that is the norm in paris.

The wait for the food was too long, but the food made it up. We got the seafood platter, steak, and fish and was only 200 euros. We could even finish with 13 people in our group.

this is really good restaurant, there are lots of people. If you don't wanna wait, you should go earlier. The food is really fresh, the price is ok and good for the service.

It's a very great place for seafood and friends gathering. The price is not high compared with other seafood restaurant. And the dish looks so beautiful.

Chicken. Did you…read moreknow that it took until the 1920's to figure out how to tell the sex of a baby chicken? Before that all the chickens were raised until they were 4-6 weeks old and then the males were killed because they're not laying eggs and their meat is too dry and tough for nuggets. In the mid 20's someone in Japan figured out that if one would ever so softly and quickly squeeze a baby chick, its intestines would momentarily turn around and show a cloaca, a small external orifice that birds have, which could be analysed to tell if it was a boy or a girl. This discovery gave birth to the profession of a "chicken sexer". To become a chicken sexer one has to get in and undergo a rigorous training in the Zen Nippon school in Nagoya, the only permanent school for the purpose. What is very curios in the process of "sexing chickens", that only in 20% of the cases the chicken sexer can actually point out why he made his choice - for the rest of the time the chicken sexer goes with his intuition and experience. Most of the time they cannot tell exactly why this ass of a chicken is a boy or a girl. It's pure intuition and unconscious neural pathways. Nowadays, with new alternative sexing methods having been invented, only few students graduate from Zen Nippon school each year. However, the pay remains very good - a chicken sexer can make up to 15'000 € a month and you get to travel the world as well. Churrasquera Galo is a Portuguese cantine in 9th, in which a 1/2 chicken with rice (that has flavour), fries and few green things costs 10 €. They also make other dishes with meat, fish and octopus, but I go there for the best Portuguese chicken in town.

Ok, not that new, but so hot, in fact, that you'll likely have to jockey for a table amongst crowds of L'Oréal employees who don't mind getting the scent of grilled meat in their perfectly coiffed hair. That's about all there is to order here: Meat, meat, meat. And some fish. All salted and grilled in huge portions that only a churrasca can deliver. If you're familiar with the Brazillian churrascaria, it won't be what you're expecting - they don't bring you skewers and skewers of meats at will. They do, however, present you with a large plate filled with nicely grilled chicken, beef, pork, or fish - or a "Mixte Grill" of several, all at a nice price. Each dish comes with three sides of your choice, though none really inspire "oohs" and "ahhs." But that's ok - if you've come to a Churrasqueira, you're here for the meat. No menu combination, but you won't leave here hungry if you skip the entrée.

"Babe, I am hungry". "Okay, what are you in the mood for?"…read more"Something different". Something different was certainly on the menu today - it started out partly with us trying to unravel a bit of a lie told to us by a Korean conglomerate. If you live in a city with a large Asian population you would have no doubt run into an "opening soon" poster for the Paris Baguette bakery chain, which is based in Seoul. We know that the poster features a Parisian street scene with a Paris Baguette shop in the foreground, we also know that it is bullcrap, a careful set of crops and photoshops of their flagship store in Paris mixed with a familiar street scene, slathered with the rotunda of the Institute Francais in the background. Was it a complete fabrication, or did they take an actual street scene from Paris and photoshop the storefront in? After walking for hours around the 6e, we conclude that it was a composite of Rue Mazarin. Of course, this being a romantic honeymoon-of-sorts between me and my wife, truth-punching a Korean bakery chain was just the cherry on the cake...the real payoff was to wander and get lost on the streets of 6e. That does work up a bit of an appetite. Well, there are several things we can do - there are Rotisseries at the marche, walk back towards the Odeon for a Brasserie, there's a fondue place or two right here and hello what's this? A Portuguese/Brazilian joint...and it's next to the Taschen bookstore. The menu...looks pretty familiar - Picanha, Feijoada (they called it a Brazilian Cassoulet...cute), Bacalhau and Pasteis de Nata Belem are also present. The menu prices aren't bad (about 15 Euros) and presented on a trilingual menu? Went inside, sat down at a table, and the owner greeted us...in English. Okay, that makes things easier. We are a block away from the nearest Best Western hotel. We ordered 2 set lunches, which for me is the Caldo Verde (the classic Portuguese Kale soup with chourico and mostly pureed potatoes), the Bacalhau, and for the dessert, a pastille de nata. My lady went for the Brazilian side of things, with a bean salad, a steak (bife) and a slice of the classic Brazilian flan, or Pudim. The Caldo Verde was a bit thinner than my own preference, but still pretty good - they didn't use too much of the vinho verde to kick up the flavor profile, but it was light on the palate and complements the chourico sausage well. The potatoes are barely there, so you taste more of the kale (which are cut into thin strips, like what you would do for complementing feijoada. The bean salad that my wife had was...okay. Nothing too distinctive. The Bacalhau was more of an fritter with potatoes, onions and eggs and served on top of a small salad. It was actually quite satisfying. My wife's bife was, according to her, quite tasty. Not the best cut of beef, but sauced well, with an egg fried sunny side up, potatoes, rice on the side (seems redundant?) and a small salad. Of course, my wife likes her steak more well done than I do, so my opinions on the steak is tainted by the texture. For dessert we decided to switch - I'll take the pudim, and she'll have the pastilles - of course, being a married couple, we are automatically doing halfsies. The pudim is good enough with a caramel sauce on top, and her pastilles has a crisp crust, the usually custardy interior, definitely very serviceable. Overall, a very good experience - solid Portuguese and Brazilian food, pricing is okay, service is reasonably quick and courteous, and the location is next to Taschen St Germain de Pres, so you got something to check out after lunch. Pricing is good, the decor is modern yet cozy. It's close to the metro so it should not be a drag. I'll definitely come back in a heartbeat and give their Moqueca a try.
