Came here for lunch and looks like Leon is a chain restaurant. It's very quiet with only 3 tables occupied. Took two requests to get our plates after food came. Bread was sitting on the service table nearby but didn't get to us until after the latest came. Must have forgotten about us. Came for the Leon Mussels but it didn't impress me. The Mustard Chicken Casserole had too much mustard so it was on the verge of acidic. Overall food is what's expected of a chain restaurant and price of €31 is not bad for lunch. read more

I was staying at the Le Meridien hotel next door, and this was my quick option for dinner one evening. It was not bad at all, surprisingly, given that there is a chain of these across the city. I had the Moules Frites dinner set menu, and I chose a salmon rillette and a beverage. My travel buddy had the burger. Nothing spectacular, but it definitely hit the spot if you're hungry. The salmon rilletes or served in a little plastic sauce cup with a side of sliced baguette. Nothing in particular to write home about on the item. The Moules Frites came in a large pot and I was able to eat more than my Phil. I barely could touch the fries. My buddy enjoyes the burger and fries. I'd say, if this is one of your few choices in the area, go for it! Definitely beats McDonald's and some of the other establishments in the area. They offer better choice wider selection and most of all 6 to 8 euros cheaper per item than the one on Champs-Elysées. Try their 20 euros combo And please do not give any tips in France. You are destroying the local étiquettes and economy by bringing your American habit. The tip is already included in the price you pay (14% sometimes 17%). Pls do not ever pay additional tips because you are making the servers to expect more while they have already being paid for their work including retirement, social security in their salary. You are also disrespecting the local custom and economic dynamic. Also not because the meal is cheap for your standard you feel you are contributing to give tips. You make the locals unable to enjoy the meal the way it is. Don't introduce your tipping habit into a country where tips aren't expected and makes the local unable to go to the restaurant. Again the tips are already included in the price you pay. Just like the tax. In France the tax is included in the price that you see on the menu. This was probably my favorite fish and chips ever up until now!!!!! Their tartar sauce was also so flavorful! The mojito was great as well, not as well mixed as I would've preferred, but hey, I had a spoon so I mixed it myself. I love the atmosphere of Paris dining also. They want you to dine in and experience the food and culture, as not many places have takeout we learned, but rightfully so. The seafood is so fresh here, and the Le Creme Brûlée was so flavorful. It is a bit of a chain, which can be a turnoff if you are into more unique, independent operations, but their formula works. This time I ordered the curry mussels. Ok so Leon de Bruxelles gets 10 stars!!! A definite must while in Paris!! Note, this restaurant has 2 entrances each on a different street. The mussels are to die for!!!! They came in two sizes, jumbo jumbo pot and regular pot. They have menus in English and our server was terrific!! I didn't get her name but we both tried our best to communicate. A lot of people were ordering the giant mug of beer so being a Belgium beer connoisseur, I had to order one as well. I ordered a glass of wine, pint of beer, mussels, coffee and desert!!! Yup and I had a wonderful meal and experience at Leon. We also learned by watching the natives, what is the proper way to east mussels. They use an empty shell to pick out mussels from its shell. Ate here last night we were in Paris mainly because it was close to our hotel and I wanted something different. I got the Mussels Leon and my husband got mussels with pasta which he thoroughly enjoyed. I also got an Aperol spritz, which I have enjoyed many times in Paris. My husband probably got a beer although I can't remember what kind. The service was very prompt. As a matter of fact, our waiter reminded me of a hummingbird the way he zipped around the restaurant, resetting clean tables and tending to customers needs. I did not take pictures, but the food was very good and hit the spot. It was not overly heavy, but it was very tasty. It would've been perfect if I had a piece of bread to dunk in there and that's my fault because I didn't ask. I was tempted to hold the bowl up to my mouth and drink the contents. The first English review? Sweet! What else can I say but 24 hour diner, ala Paris? Ok, how about, beer? Plenty. Mussels? Outrageously bountiful! Quality? Indeed! I had the fish and chips for some reason, as did the two Polish ladies that sat down next to us (oh by the way, they now live in London so if they ordered the fish and chips and had good things to say, how do you think the fish and chips are?). I guess I just couldn't decide between the goat cheese salad, a delicious looking chicken dish with a white sauce, and the sirloin. All evenly priced. The place was packed, flowing in mussels and fries at midnight in Paris on a Friday night, so again I ask you, how good do you think it is? Oh, and the belgian waffles for dessert? Classic! My friend had this heaping pile of mussels and said, and I quote, "They were good!" How's that for a ringing endorsement? Someone told me this was a good place and I'm glad they did, because it was really enjoyable. Why not more stars you may ask? I don't know, I guess I just have a thing about rating things in Paris as 5 stars because it's so over blown. But I'm pretty darn sure that if you are a normal person and not some picky whiner, you will have a nice experience here. We were pleasantly surprised that it was pretty darn good. We also tried their desert "best of Leon" it was like small portions of their waffle with chocolate sauce, creme brûlée, chocolate lava cake & vanilla Sunday topped with whip cream & blueberries. All were delicious & one order was enough to share for two. Food was great but service was average. Maybe the French just like to leave their customers alone, but darn I felt like we were bothering them everytime you asked for something. Maybe we are just not used to the slow pace here in Paris. After I got seated, I was going over the menu, decided to go with the mussels something something... with BACON. You can't go wrong with bacon. The food came out and it was amazing. We both enjoyed generous portions of mussels prepared with a Dijon mustard sauce, and a Pelforth lager. Crisp Belgian fries were served with the mussels. They were so tasty. Fresh baguette was given with the meal, to help sop up some of the flavorful mussel broth. We had a lovely time slowly savoring our meals. We never felt rushed. The waitstaff checked on us to make sure we were satisfied with our meals, and to check if we needed anything else. We left the restaurant very happy.
