What better way to celebrate Christmas when on a trip than going to Le Congres for dinner. Our waiter Safil was so kind, welcoming, and hospitable. The ambience is refined and stately. Does it need some new decor? A touch here or there, but as I said it's stately. I love it. My escargots were delicious. The sauce was rich garlic butter. Dip some of the French baguette to clean it all. (Yes, I'm a gourmande ) seafood smelled of the ocean it was so fresh. The oysters, the crab, the variety of sea shells was just delectable. Top it all off with a delicious wine and an outstanding rich creamy dessert. Can't wait to be back.

The 40€Business Club menu is the best deal in Paris! A typical French Bistro... no reservations needed! Welcome drink, appetizers, main course, dessert (I trade that in for a cheese plate) a small bottle of wine and coffee/tea! All for €40... not bad

Our last night in Paris was rainy and cool. We popped into Le Congrès Maillot for dinner and we were not disappointed. The maitre d' and server both went out of their way to ensure we enjoyed our evening. We started with the escargot... delectable! I chose the chateaubriand that was perfection while Halotus chose the seafood sampler. As an American, some of the seafood options were a bit unusual for his taste... steamed mollusks (no sauce, bland) and tiny in-shell crustaceans meant to be eaten whole. The other options like oysters and jumbo shrimp were quite satisfying. For dessert I requested the profiteroles, which I haven't had in decades! The maitre d' made a big show of serving them and artfully poured the chocolate sauce over the dish! Halotus enjoyed creme brûlée. When he went to take a bite of my dessert, the maitre d' playfully cautioned him as the cream puffs were all mine! The ambiance was warm, cozy with a casual elegance. We will definitely return when we visit Paris in the future.

I had a date here, is a beautiful place, with beautiful service. As starters, my date had raw oysters, I had a french Oeuf Meurette 8.20€ (porch egg) which was really good. We had bottle service, Kir Royal, & (Don perion) which was the BEST one ever had, and I'm not a champagne type of lady. For our main course, I had the Tuna steak, which was prepared nice, and a huge serving. My date had Pave Thon. 24.50€ I believe this place add on a 10%tip within your service. Total for two, 79.70€ Over all it was a great experience. Restrooms was very clean, located downstairs away from all the dining area. I love this place.

Very good quality food! One of our top food stops in Paris. I will definitely have to come back

Have been there before and was glad to be back in Paris to visit again. Ambiance is decidedly French and service traditional French (friendly to abrasive but not mean - it is just the way things are done...just like NY, with attitude). Ordered a couple of appetizers (fois gras and lump crab) followed by the Dorado (whole) and the label rouge salmon (meaning red label as in top quality). Crab was fresh and was on a bed of crunchy greens, providing texture, color and taste. Fois gras was exceptional as always, and the dense compote was perfect in small doses. The density of the fois gras was just right and had deep flavors and spice. Toast was perfect accompaniment and I thoroughly enjoyed the dish from the first to the last bite. The salmon was on a bed of pasta and vegetables and was cooked on the medium to rare side which is appropriate for high quality salmon. It is also usually the chef choice so i leave it to the chef.... The Dorado was larger than I expected and was grilled whole and presented to me before being whisked away for deboning. I intercepted the process and had the fish in front of me whole... leaving me the delicious task of deboning and eating all the tasty morsels along with the delicious flesh of the fish. It was accompanied by well-prepared pancetta...who would have thought, but it worked as the fish was large but the sauce was separate so I did not use any of it, leaving me to experiment between the pancetta and the fish and using the fresh lemon to add some tease to the flavors that were already so rich. Loved this dish and the price was surprisingly low. Overall a super experience....will be back again and again. The wait staff were very friendly and attentive - I was not thrilled with the table they gave us but it was comfortable and the maitr'd was very nice in his attention and recommendations.

Review from a American in Paris ;) French Onion soup was HORRIBLE- the broth was clear and had zero flavor. The steak I had should've cut with a butter knife. Yeah- I needed a cutting saw.also had to COVER it in ketchup- I have NEVER put ketchup on a steak. I am from Texas and have very higher expectations on steak. But this was bottom of the barrel on all accounts. Hubbys burger - ordered plain and was served full of everything he hates. The wine was served in 2 different sized glasses for my husband and myself. We ordered a great bottle of wine - they used $ store glasses. The service. Or should I say the LACK of service. Maybe if people in Europe tipped the service industry the service would be better. Horrible experience- I think the food in general In Europe is horrible. But this was beyond the usual horrible expectations we have for European food.

Hubby and I stayed at a hotel nearby and always passed this place, with its fresh and plentiful raw seafood displayed outside. We stopped here on our last night in Paris; they had a prix fixe, like many Parisian restaurants, but we decided to go a la carte. I can't exactly remember what it was that we ordered, but I do remember the langostines and Belon oysters, which were FANTASTIC. Service is great; not pushy or overbearing at all, even though we were slightly intimidated with the formal French uniforms and we came in casual streetwear. Would definitely come back here again, if ever in the neighborhood.

Maybe the worst restaurant on planet earth. Service is terrible. Waited for service forever. Order a nice bottle of wine and it was served with cheap wine glasses that weren't even the same size. Wife ordered chateaubriand which is one of the finest pieces of meat and the only way she could eat it was covered with Ketchup. DONT COME HERE. Service and food suck!!!!!!

Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff we tried tuna and sole fish both were good. Seafood plate is served only cold so we didn't try!

An elegant upscale French cafe in the Sixteenth Arrondisement…read more The Sixteenth is known for being wealthy, old school conservative and elegant. Le Stella is expensive, serves French classics and executes magnificently. It is the neighborhood cafe for families who maintain a household staff and chauffeurs. They eat well. At Le Stella, you will eat well. * * * Most of the menu looks like it could be served in any cafe in the city. With a notable exception. The menu includes a vast array of seafood to be served as an appetizer. Some cafes will offer raw oysters. Le Stella will offer you a broad selection of oysters from which you may take your pick. The oysters are not even remotely cheap. Most of the tables were starting with seafood. I have generally been unhappy with the oysters I have gotten at everyday hoi polloi cafes. I strongly suspect that this is the place I want to go if the plan is to get my French aphrodisiacs. * * * I DID have the steak tartare. OH. MY. GOD. I have had a lot of steak tartare both in Paris and elsewhere in France. Nobody's version comes up to the standard of Le Stella. If you want to find out what steak tartare can do, This is where you want to order the dish. The beef itself was wonderful ... Which is not always a guarantee with the competition. What set the dish apart though was the flavoring. This was the spiciest and most stimulating steak tartare I have had in my life. It was not blow-the-top-of-your-head-off hot, like a dish with two cups of Thai green peppercorns. But my palate was hit with strong flavors of every type imaginable, As if a martial arts star was doing his signature fifteen move finisher in my mouth. There was strong yellow mustard powder. There was black pepper. There was green onion. There was horseradish. There was who knows what else? Each bite was absolutely strong and absolutely pungent. But each bite was also absolutely different. I never knew what was going to happen next. Just eating raw beef with some black pepper dumped in is no longer going to do it for me. I have seen the Holy Saint of Steak Tartare. No mortal Steak Tartare will ever rise to this level of divinity. * * * The wine cellar is also impressive. You can go all out and buy a bottle of a great vintage. (You can do that in many other French cafes too - Or for that matter - at the upscale wine stores which can be found every three or four blocks in Paris.) But what they sell by the glass is much better than most other cafes' "just-one-glass" choices. I had an first rate Beaujolais that was surprisingly reasonably priced. My wife was very happy with her fish. * * * I was watching my weight so I passed on the very attractive cheese and dessert options. As far as I could see, the only real lack was the bar whose spirit offerings were plebian and uninteresting. At Le Stella, you want to drink wine. Any other beverage is treated as a toss off. But sometime when my budget goes up and my waistline goes down, I would like to make a stab at their full menu. There were a lot of happy oyster eaters in that room.
