I had hands down the best nail experience ever here. I've been following this salon on Instagram for over a year but finally decided to come when I saw a set that had been done by Maddie. When I tell you she is awesome! Not just her skill, but her AURA, her SPIRIT! I felt so relaxed. She was so patient, understanding and gentle! While I came in with a previous set as my inspiration, she helped me make it my own and work for my hands. I had just taken off an old set, she didn't overdo it with the drill. I didn't have to feel heat or pain on my nail beds. In addition to all of this, she finished off by clipping my cuticles, which in my experience, most shops don't do unless you're getting a manicure. She really took care of hands and showed through action that she cares about the health of my nails and nail bed. To top it off, when I inquired about cuticle care she informed me that there was cuticle oil available for sale in the store and gave me directions on how to use it! This was my first experience at Luxy Nail Spa. I was in a crunch and needed my nails done for a job interview the following day. I will surely return to Luxy for as long as Maddie is there! I've been coming here for the past 3.5 years. While I've had some really janky nails by a few technicians before, they have been ok at best and they are pretty friendly here. My gf and I live very close to this place so we used to come here a lot. Recently, she has had a few really bad experiences here from multiple techs and have moved on to a different place, as of last month to be accurate. However I came back here for convenience and familiarity today and it literally was the worst experience of my life. But I'm glad, because I'm closing this chapter of my life and look forward to finding a different nail shop. Do not get your nails done by Don. He was messy, sloppy and doesn't believe in cleaning/dusting before application of gel. He's either blind or convinced that I am, because no one in the right state of mind can be so oblivious such uneven height of nails, jagged/messy edges and dozen bubbles per nail. Oh, for those who are wondering why I didn't complain or point out to him, I sure did and even asked him to re do a couple things but I quickly realized it was his lack of skills that caused this shoddy job in the first place, I decided to call it a loss and move on because he was making matters worse and transferring more nail dust and bubbles furthering screwing things up. Not to mention, I literally wanted to scream when he began to "massage" my hands with ONE drop of oil while rubbing the nail dusts and particles all over me with his dry hands, chafing the living crap out of my hands. After following this place for months on instgram and my braider have great success with them I decided it was time to give them a try. Boy was that a mistake. Everyone appeared to be unorganized. I went in for a gel mani & pedi. My pedi was done right away. Some items that were offered with my pedicure where not available so they did credit me for that. My low rating is because I waited an hour for a manicure. A couple hours after I left my gel started coming off. By the next day I have 2 nails with chipped or gel gone. I called them and they said they will take care of it, which I hope they do. But this is a HUGE inconvenience and annoyance. Update 3/20 these look better I hope they last. I understand why their business is going down the tubes. I wanted a simple French tip design with 5 colors (one for each nail, and simple). John, is very rude and impatient when it comes to helping you pick your color and specific designs that you would like. He complains and rushes you throughout the entire process. The last who polished my toes painted them like a 3rd grader. The polish was super thick and needed to be thrown away. WORST SERVICE EVER. I will never return to luxy nails. read more

HUGE selection of dip colors, however the techs are not familiar with them nor are the colors organized in a way to help you find what you're looking for. Communication breakdown - I asked for a shape called russian almond acrylics (between stiletto and almond), hopefully I can attach a picture of what I ended up with. (Directly related to issue in first part) My 6 year old had her first manicure (took 10 minutes). After the last coat was applied, the tech left and no one checked on her or thought to spray her nails with quick dry. After we left, I saw she had several smudged nails. She had no interest in letting the salon fix them. No one introduced themselves. Despite small water bottles sitting out and 2 running frozen drink machines in the back, we were not offered anything. For a full set of acrylics (NexGen Dip), a regular pedicure, and manicure for a 6 year old, I spent $120. 24 hours later one of my nails broke when I picked up socks off the carpet. These are some of the problems I experienced. Would not go back nor recommend to anyone else. At a loss now where to go, since they had such high reviews. read more

I have gone to this nail salon for over 5 years. I use to see John and Stephanie the owners and they did a nice job. Stephanie tuned rude to me and it seemed like she was always doing me a favor to do my nails. I tried a new nail tech that they recommended since they were booked and I was very unhappy with my nails. She was sweet, she just clearly does not have experience doing Nexgen. My nails have never looked worse. I was sitting in the nail shop in tears. It took her over 1 hour and 40 minutes to do my nails. My nails looked so bad I honestly wanted to have them soaked off, but I was heading out of town, so I did not have this option. The nail tech kept calling Stephanie over because she could tell I was not happy with the way my nails were looking. Stephanie made no attempt to help the nail tech and my nails kept getting worse. She clearly did not care that I was not happy, nor did she offer to fix my nails when she could see they were not looking good. In addition, the nails do not look the same on each hand, the shapes are different. Also, there is a weird texture on the nails. What a waste of money, I paid full price and tipped the nail tech. I am really sad this all happened. I will be finding a new place, and NEVER will I return to this place. read more

I came to Luxy after a less than satisfactory nexgen application experience elsewhere. Honestly, I didn't trust the other place to remove the nexgen and the reviews for Luxy were great. Plus it was close to my house. They did a great job with the removal, which took much longer than they or I expected (again, not a good job on the application by another place so it was tough to remove). They took extra time, worked carefully and didn't destroy my natural nails even though it was hard as heck to get everything removed. We also chatted about what to expect if I got my nails done there. Before leaving, my tech gave me a business card with their two nexgen application specialists identified to make calling for an appointment easy. I was super impressed with this gentle future service sell. No pressure, just nice conversation. As well, I went in late in the day (around 6) and the salon was packed. Hands down, they do the best NexGen in DFW, and they only charge $35. I've been to other salons that charged more and did terrible work...if you are debating where to go, stop looking! So impressed!! After walking into a few nail places and being turned down for ombré nails, I turned to Yelp to help me find somewhere that could keep up with the trends! I waked in a little before they opened on a Saturday (there were already a few customers) and told me they could get me in at noon since only specific people did ombré. I got a gel pedi ($40) by a very nice lady (I didn't grab her name) who was very careful about making the polish perfect, even though this gel seemed to take five or six coats. Tony did my ombré and was such a perfectionist. They turned out just how I wanted them to and they feel pretty solid. The ombré is a nexgen process and I added longer tips after a few damaging manis and some rough weeks at work left them down to the skin. Really really love this place. There are a few downfalls, there is one guy who is very rough when massaging your feet and legs during the pedicure. He uses way too much pressure. I also witnessed the nail tech using her drill on someone's hands only to pass it to the nail tech at the pedicure station. That guy used the same drill on that person's feet. When he was done, he passed it back and the original tech who had it went back to using it on the woman's nails. That is so disgusting. They also speak their native tongue to each other and I just don't get why these shops don't realize that is rude.
