I have never encountered any sales associates like the one seen in the movie Pretty Woman where they see a customer based on their appearance and decide they don't want to wait on them. That is until I entered Lush at the Pentagon City mall. To give some background, I went to The Body Shop, which is a different store than Lush, to buy some hand soap in a pump, which was given to me as a gift. I liked the hand soap from the Body Shop, so I wanted to buy some more. However, at the Body Shop, they told me they don't sell any hand soap anymore, and told me that Lush had the hand soap they were selling in the past and told me to try there. I was okay doing that, and I thought it was interesting since I never had an establishment recommend a direct competitor for a product. I ended up buying some soap bars at the Body Shop. I head to Lush to get the soap pump, and I enter the store. I start looking around, and a sales associate sort of tracks me down, and says can I help you. And I said, oh yes, could you help me find some hand soap? And she says, do you want to wash your hands? And I say, no I would like to buy some. I want to get some in a pump, I was told from the Body Shop you sold them here. Then she says, well we don't sell hand soap in pumps, that's too much plastic. And I said oh, and then quickly leave. The whole time I was there I felt like she didn't want me there. She made me feel uncomfortable, and was very rude. I think if she was a good sales associate, she would have noticed my Body Shop bag and said, I noticed you bought something at the Body Shop, would you like to give us a try, I think you'll like it, or something like that, which would be good sales technique. What poor training they must receive at Lush! I know I had a large bag with me, I was heading to the Amtrak train station, and was stopping by the mall before heading out. I know I forgot to shave that morning, but I showered, I was wearing non-tattered clothes, why the cold shoulder? Any prospect of getting a new customer is now non-existent. read more

Customer service surpassed any expectations I had going in, considering holiday season and the traffic it brings resulting in tired unhelpful sales staff. Tonal helped me find a hair product for my extremely difficult to manage hair (and she gave me free samples of other products). Now I am a huge skeptic when it comes to the quality of hair products on the market today. My products include Phyto, Thickology, Ouidad, Frederik Fekkai to an extent and other pricey but unfortunately only healthy brands I can use. Basically Pantene Provene is body soap to me. But let me tell you, Tonal had me at hello! She is extremely knowledgeable in the anatomy of hair. She was explaining to me things I never knew about hair; not only was she friendly but the girl could write an encyclopedia on the truth about hair. What's really nice is that she had such a positive attitude and its contagious. So if you're at pentagon mall stop by lush and look for her before you purchase any hair products. The ambiance of this store is really warm and welcoming. The Lush products are great and my girlfriend and I stopped in here to Christmas shop for our parents. Danielle greeted us and was stellar. The staff here is very sweet and helpful but we were just so impressed with Danielle I had to make sure she was recognized. She showed us products and helped us immensely in figuring out great gifts but never once did we feel pressured into anything and her demeanor was very positive and focused on the product benefits and not on a persons negative skin aspects to try and push the sale of cosmetics we have seen at other businesses. She was very knowledgeable and just so energetic and engaging and made the experience fun and memorable. Thank you Danielle and we will definitely be back to see you again! read more

Very friendly staff and creative products. I came in the day before Christmas and despite the store being packed, one of the associates immediately welcomed me and helped me select a shampoo for color treated hair. The check out process was also fast and easy. They have lots of fun products that make great gifts and I look forward to coming back and trying more of their handmade cosmetics. read more

I would so excitied to visit Lush for the first time ever! The staff was very helpful and friendly. I purchased shower gels, lip tint, and lip balm. I do not like the lip products at all. The tint is drying to my lips and the balm feels thick and not smooth (I will be returning these two items). Love the concept but not crazy about the products. read more

I love Lush and all of their products (and especially the fact that they're totally against animal testing). However, I hate how aggressive the salespeople in this store are. You can't walk in there without 3 people running up to you and asking you one million questions about what you're looking for. I absolutely LOVE Lush products! A friend from out of town first introduced me to the store and oh how I wish she had taken me there sooner! Every time I go, someone greets me and offers to assist me with my shopping. They even give little beauty tips and I love when they show you the samples. Some of it's interactive and they'll mix samples on your skin to help you decide which products you like the most. Perhaps the best part about Lush is the vegetarian and vegan products. Clearly they care about the animals and the environment and I think it's great that they do their part. They also give you a free face mask if you bring back 5 plastic Lush pots. Just another incentive to want to come back but with all the wonderful products they carry, I've got plenty of reasons to come back :) read more

Pretty good customer service in here. I've boat the hand cream and tried out a few samples. Employees are pretty helpful when I go in the store. In my research the prices of products have went up a lot and that is the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. Some products have almost doubled in price but hey, I always get my samples to find out if I actually want to purchase the products. read more

I received a gift card for Lush as a Christmas present, so I visited the Lush in the mall for the very first time. The staff was so incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and friendly. From the second I walked in I was greeted with a smile by anyone working there as I walked around the store with the one super sweet employee who was helping me decide what to buy. It's hard to find a business who's employees just generally seem so happy and it was really fantastic. In addition, I thought it was really awesome that the woman helping me suggested buying the Charity Pot lotion which she said the profits go to charity. To suggest a product like this where the store doesn't make any or as much money off of it (not sure if it's all or a portion although I feel like she said all) just goes to show the genuine good nature of the store, the brand, and the employees. Best store I've been in so far. I'm transgender so I asked if they had the trans bath bomb, they didn't which I was a bit upset about, but I didn't say that or anything. The employee was so nice and she went in the back, grabbed a pin with the trans flag on it (it was her personal pin) and she gave it to me for free. Then we had a nice conversation about lgbt rights and charities. Service was amazing and employees were so nice. Would recommend. read more

I went into lush to buy a few last minute valentine days gifts for my mom. I was not even noticed when I walked in. I had asked a lady for help and it was like I was bothering her to help me. All the other staff was busy doing other stuff (dancing singing ect.) not even helping customers. I'd rather make the trip to Tysons to visit the lush there. read more

Lush products are Amaze-balls, and I've been using them for years. This review is strictly about this location. I love that it is conveiently located at the metro. However, the sales associates here are aggressive, and pushy. I just wanted to browse in peace, but at least three people came up to me, looked at what I had in my hand, and asked if I have used it. Yes, I have, yes I'm fine, I'll let you know if I need help. Two of them respected this, but one lady literally followed me around the store, asking what I had, and even attempting to give me a lesson in cost-effectiveness. Lady, I'm educated. Highly educated. I just want to shop in peace. Then, I stopped by the shampoo, and she proceeded to tell me about every single shampoo she has tried. Ever. Um, why do I care!?! Leave me alone! It took 10 min of me trying to say, yeah ok, thanks for the info. I should've been rude, and just walked away. Another time an associate wanted to argue how dry my skin was. Um, my sweat glands don't produce sweat, so top that lady! I have to take prescription creams for my skin, and have since I was three. I think I'm well aware of mt skin needs by now, and certainly don't need a young lady at the lush counter arguing with me about it. The funny thing about this location is when I was sick and ran out of my DreamCream, I sent the hubs with a list of what to get. Well, these same associates wouldn't give him the time of day! He wandered around for 10min looking for the stuff I wanted, and no one asked him if he needed help. However, whenever women came in, they were quick to harass them. From now on, I'll order online, or make a special trip to another mall. read more

I love LUSH. Im into all natural everything and this place delivers just that. I buy their soaps, bath bombs, tooth tabs, lip scrub and have several samples of their face masks that I am trying out ("cup of coffee" is awesome). I LOVE that they give you free samples! Ahhh "Lush" and I'm not referring to the posh and plush life style of having it all. I'm referring to the store named Lush and known for their products made by hand. Short but true story. I first discovered Lush (or rather Lush discovered me) while conducting a 2-week training in Buckhead, Atlanta; Lennox Mall. The aromas and scents of these hand-made products, from head-to-toe delights your senses - well mine anyway - and therefore I was drawn to see and smell more of what was inside. That was when/where our paths crossed. Well, as time would permit, I made my way back (not to Atlanta) to Pentagon Centre, Virginia, where Lush has taken up space and just the right amount. My hand-made must haves: BB Seaweed/fresh face mask; Luxury bath melts/Mango; and toothy tabs/Atomic. And new to my faves is the facial skin cleanser "Angel on Bare Skin." But hey don't take my word for it; you have to visit Lush yourself. But do take heed to the fact that once inside, the staff is not only super nice and helpful but you'll love the aromas and scents...... and eventually you'll be lured (if not tempted) to try or even buy something. I love Lush products, but I felt overwhelmed by all the sales staff when I last visited.

The honey soap and bath bombs are awesome and I've spent a TON of money in this place at both locations close to me (tysons & pentagon city) but what I've noticed and I'm not sure if this is a sales technique or what but many times I've asked them for a $3 or $5 slice of soap (to try it) and they can NEVER cut that size its always OVER and much more $$$ plus with the honey soap they weight it with the unusable honey comb on it and they made you pay for the unusable part of the soap which does weight alot if your buying a large piece like I usually do with the honey soap. Both places seen to have the same problem using the weight scale to weight the soap. Needles to say I really cut back on my shopping there as it's very easy to spent $150 a month there they are VERY expensive bath bombs are nearly $7 and they're very expensive soap 3 ounces of soap is $8, that's a TON for a TINY piece of soap. I like it but not as much as making me broke over. read more
