Couldn't and wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone. They started out great, but since have almost doubled their prices and services have declined drastically. We waited 18 minutes past our appointment time, even though we got there 10 minutes early, and the person that was specifically requested had left, and they just made a decision for us, to see someone else. To add insult to injury, they have an attitude about it. Switched to a new place, only been once, but night and day difference so far, office is in Foggy Bottom, but at almost half price and better work, I'll drive the extra 10 minutes. read more

I go to SkinDC for both my medical and cosmetic dermatology needs. I've had wonderful experiences on both sides. They are extremely professional, knowledgeable, and also warm and sympathetic to my concerns. For example, I am a huge wimp and don't tolerate pain very well. They don't try convince me it's "all in my head" or "it's not that bad" as some practices have done in the past. This review is for the cosmetic side of the office..I really hate to do this, but I've been noticing a steady DECLINE in quality of care at SkinDC. I used to be a patient for a couple years and it was an amazing facility, but more recently I've had several issues with the admin team and today broke the camel's back. I had an appointment at 10:20am and even called the office to let them know I was going to be late, but on the way. She assured me that they have a 15min late policy. I committed to my commute because I knew I would be close, but would make it in that time. As I ENTERED their office at 10:35am, they informed me I would have to reschedule! Now, I'm not normally this late, but with the kids off from Spring Break and in-laws in town, my departure time from home was affected. Still in the office, rather than just taking me back and starting to numb me, they made me wait while they asked their provider Leah (who at my last session, didn't go over after care instructions so my skin barrier was stripped and I broke out horribly as a result for a week..so maybe it's my good luck they cancelled my appt this time) and speak to the front office supervisor (who a couple months ago had to rescheduled me AT CHECK-IN because no one at the front desk knows enough about any of the cosmetic procedures to correctly schedule patients or provide patient education. Again, this could've been a call to save me the trip of coming in...but apparently they decided it was best to make her a manager now!?!?). I am so incredibly frustrated with the quality of care that I will no longer be a patient with this office. It's a shame because there are still a handful of great providers and staff, but these few, but very impressionable, instances with admin who provide conflicting information and go on power trips with patients comes off so inexperienced and unprofessional, I can't bring myself to continue with the practice...not at that price point! read more

Listen- I have been struggling with hormonal acne since 28 and I stumbled across Skin DC on tiktok. Made an appointment at 12am the night before. Came in and the doctor heard me out, prescribed medicine, gave me the ins and outs of the medicine, and finally asked me how I felt and what questions I had. None of my previous doctors had ever asked me that. 3 weeks in the face is purging! We shall see how this round of treatment goes on this melanated skin. Perks...the ambiance there is very nice and modern! Parking is definitely weird because of the construction. You can validate parking at Safeway tho! read more

The medical assistant was very nice and took time to speak with me and answer my questions. The doctor himself was not as personable. The whole process after my initial x-rays felt very rushed and like I was on a time limit. The cost was pretty high ($250) for literally 3 zaps of a laser on a broken capillary. The issue still remains and my face looks the same as before. I called and left a message for someone to get back to me regarding the fact that I don't see any difference in my face. Still waiting to hear back. I wouldn't go back there again or recommend to others. Save yourself the hassle and find somewhere else with the same technology for the same or better price point. read more

I came to skindc for the first time ~a year or so ago in their medical arm for a routine skin check. I was super impressed with how updated and clean their office was (still within covid) so felt very safe being there. All of the staff was truly lovely and the doctor who saw me did a thorough exam. I returned for a consult on cool-sculpting (their cosmetic arm). I met with Ragan who is an angel! She was so thorough with all the information and made me feel very confident in her recommendation. There was some confusion with pricing (my fault, I didn't ask clearly lol) and she called me within 24 hours to clarify. Can't recommend skindc enough for both medical and cosmetic! I've been seeing Grace Geiger for frontal fibrosing alopecia ( hair loss) she is amazing. It is an absolute joy and pleasure when I have an appt. with Grace. She goes over everything very thoroughly. NEVER COME HERE. They do not care about their patients at all. Their phone goes straight to voicemail and it is impossible to get them to respond. When asking about an urgent medication refill, they completely ignore any messages, which is UNACCEPTABLE for a physicians' office. Modern office that feels incredibly busy but not obnoxiously so. Well-oiled machine. The sign-in as a new client was a pain but otherwise a good experience. I went in for a full body skin exam with Dr. Stovall and recommend her. She was quick but thorough and answered a few questions I had not related to that topic. I'm a big believer of natural healing but after several years of trying literally everything -- gluten free diets, autoimmune paleo diets, acupuncture, homeopathy, and literally purchasing every single cream and ointment underneath the sun we decided it was time to get professional help for my husband's psoriasis. Our doctor at One Medical Group highly recommended we reach out to Skin DC and I am so glad we did. Dr. Naga and her team are true professionals and take the time to listen to the patient and their concerns, give you multiple research options to consider, as well as honest opinions of what works and what doesn't. It was very refreshing to work with someone so knowledgeable and easy to talk to. The treatment we finally decided on was agressive but we have seen great results. The team is continuing to monitor my husband as well with follow up appointments. On the flipside, it's also just a nice ass dermatologist spot. I've been coming to SkinDC for years -- because they are hands down THE BEST. I see them for all kinds of services: General dermatology - they've helped me FINALLY get rid of cystic acne!! In the past when I had skin emergencies, I would see anyone who was available and they could always squeeze me in! Now I'm on Spironolactone and my skin has gotten sooo much better. HydraFacials - Stefanie & Leah are both amazing estheticians - highly recommend!!! My skin is always gloooowing after Laser hair removal - Quick, easy, painless. The lasers at SkinDC are waaaay higher quality than whatever they use at medspas... This treatment is a no-brainer for me. Toxin - I've gotten my forehead + crow's feet done with both Dr. Naga and Dr. Keaney -- they both do an AMAZING job with botox/xeomin. I'm always obsessed with it and it lasts so long!! CoolSculpting + CoolTone - I've done CoolSculpting on my inner thighs + flanks and I have been SO IMPRESSED by the results. I did CoolTone on my abdomen and I loooooove it. Shoutout to Ragan -- she is SO good and made me feel so comfortable throughout each experience! Morpheus8 (microneedling) - OBSESSED. Soooo worth it. Dr. Keaney was incredible! I would be careful about seeing Dr. Keaney or you might end up with scars. In 2022, I saw Dr. Keaney for a skin check and some other questions. He said I had an actinic keratosis on my cheek. He said he could treat it with cryotherapy (to freeze it). That was to only option he presented, so I said yes since these can turn cancerous if you don't treat them. He got ready and got the freeze gun up to my face and was about to go and only then told me that I might have scaring from this. Then he shot my face before I could even raise concerns or questions. After he was done, he then told me that there was another treatment can blue light therapy that could treat my whole face without the scaring risk and get any ones lurking that couldn't be seen yet, but he didn't do that treatment. I then went go to another dermatologist later because he didn't even get rid of it and that dermatologist was surprised he didn't just offer a 3rd option, triamcinolone acetonide cream, that she considers the first goto to treat this problem and with no scarring either. So now I have a BIG RED SCAR on my cheek for the rest of my life thanks to Dr. Keaney that could have been treated in other easy ways without scarring. I also feel that he just did it to get his fee instead of discussing the risks of the procedure and other options. read more

I usually don't write reviews, especially for a clinic business, but I just want to save even one person the trouble and money of coming here. I came in for acne and had an appointment with Dr. Kalen. The entire consultation with the doctor lasted about 3 minutes and that was only because I asked a few questions. Without even looking at my face/acne, the doctor listed a few general solutions like retinoids and antibiotics and was ready to leave. When I asked a question, the doctor seemed very annoyed, like I was stalling her from somewhere she had to be. The assistant was attentive, but the care in general seemed more like a cosmetic, money-making business rather than a legitimate doctor's appointment. In and out without any real solution very nonchalantly. Furthermore, the front desk was very uninformative; no information on payment (which was ~$200 after insurance) or prescription, just pitching in-house products and trying to get me to book another appointment. The cherry on top is that they told me my prescription would be ready at the CVS of my choosing and that I would get notifications about it. No notifications, 2 weeks later, and no prescription at the CVS. Tl;dr: You're better off just googling than coming in and wasting time and money, you'll find more information that way. read more

After my appointment was delayed 3 months, I came to the office and was informed that they switched my appointment again so now I need 3 appointments, each for a simple task, and need another 3 months to see the doctor. So in total it would be 1 year between checking in with the doctor. No explanation, just rescheduling and thats it. They have absolutely no moral respect for their patients. If your esteem is low, you should give this place a try. read more

Do you like playing phone tag and then having your appointment cancelled on you? If you do, then rate this as five stars! Otherwise, avoid. I was a patient here for about a year and a half and had enough so I had to find a different practice. I had been trying to make a medical dermatologist appointment for an issue that I had, and it had been taking me actual months to get one. They have an online portal where you can make your own appointment, but there are no options to see someone urgently. If you call up, you're unable to get in contact with a person; they make you leave a message and they call you back. As someone who has a job where I'm not typically around my personal phone, this is absolutely awful for me. I've been checking the website every day to find an appointment of someone who canceled and finally found one. The office then called me and canceled the appointment because the doctor was going on vacation or some other excuse they told me that I don't recall. This actually happened a second time as well where they said, I scheduled with the wrong doctor. If the website allows you to choose a doctor, they should allow you to see that doctor and not call up and cancel weeks later. I finally found an appointment that I was able to get to, but I showed up 20 minutes after the start time due to a prior appointment elsewhere that ran late. This was definitely my fault for scheduling things close to each other, and I take full responsibility for that. However, I kept trying to call the office to speak to someone that I was going to be a little late but it kept going to voicemail because they don't answer their phones. When I was literally two minutes away, they called me up and canceled the appointment because they said they only allow 15 minutes of leeway. I told them about the previous situations where the office had canceled on me twice and they pretty much told me too bad. The only other times prior to this that I had been to the office I was really not impressed by the doctors. It's not that they were bad, but they didn't really seem to care much about the medical patients. I only saw the doctor for about 10 minutes total while my new dermatologist seems to take as much time as I need, and actually handwrites notes and gives them to me with any questions I might have. SkinDC is a very nice office, so I'm sure they make sure to milk you for your money for cosmetic appointments which I'd bet they care more about than the medical ones. If you value your own time, you're going to want to look elsewhere for your medical dermatological needs. read more

Pros: Drs are knowledge, easy to get appointments. Place is modern, very clean looking on the inside. Most of the staff is nice. Cons: The reason for the one star, the way they handle insurance billing and the office manager Amber. I have a high deductible health insurance which means I owe nothing upfront (I even paid nothing upfront for a knee surgery) and it goes to the insurance company who then bills me what's left. Amber, the half dozen times I have been here, did not seem to understand how that worked. Every time I had to argue to get them to bill insurance, each time Amber argued how it's discriminatory (but they ask for a credit card to have on file and won't treat without one ha! yeah and that isn't) because if I do it for you I have to do it for everyone. Finally the last straw was today when Amber refused to bill my insurance. Paid the money and requested my records - way too many dermatologists in this area to have to fight with incompetent people about how MY INSURANCE works. TLDR: Doctors are awesome and if you have copay insurance great. Else you'll end up arguing with a stubborn office manager in Amber about how your own insurance works. read more

I have been waiting many months now to see a doctor within this practice for a basic skin check however they keep canceling my appointments and I have yet to see anyone. I waited 2 months for my first appointment before they called to cancel and reschedule. I waited another month for my rescheduled appointment but two days before they canceled again, this time via email with no explanation. When I went to reschedule yet again I found out I couldn't be seen for another couple of months. I understand that things come up and appointments have to be canceled, but multiple cancellations and waiting 5+ months to see a doctor is unacceptable. I have now made an appointment at a different medical practice as it is impossible to be seen at this office. read more

The pros: Office is clean and conveniently located. Dr. replies to email on occasion for follow-up questions. The cons: Nobody answers the phone here. Appointments are solely done online. And appointments are not available until months out. I saw Dr. Stovall and she was OK. I only had some minor issues. I wouldn't go for something more serious, unless there was no other derm dr. available in the area and you happen to get an appointment here (good luck). I get the feeling, they rush you out as soon as you come in. The medical assistants spend more time with you than the dr. Find another derm dr, there are plenty in the area. read more

Unfortunately, I've been trying to make another appointment I could not reach a live person and all I got was voicemail over and over. Left my name and number and never heard from them. Called three or four times and left messages twice. I think they may have closed their practice due to the small number of patients during COVID. Very disappointed in the management (not dermatologists) of SkinDC. I have had to come in more than 3 times this past year because at least two of my dermatologists left and they would not refill the prescriptions I had been using for YEARS unless I was seen by a new dermatologist. I had no idea about the dermatologist leaving either until i called to have them refill my prescriptions. No one emailed me or sent me any notification. I tried several times to call and refill but no one ever would get back to me. It took 30 minutes for the dermatologist (who was super nice and friendly) to come in and just say my skin looked good and she would refill the prescriptions. I had to take a day off of work too because this was the only availability for months and they would not refill my prescription. read more

They are asking $900 for 30 units of Botox. That was my quote today. I think that's all that needs to be said. I can't speak for the service, I'm sure it's great, but this is so incredibly overpriced I just don't see how it's justified. I've gotten Botox from MDs with extremely nice practices in California (which were much nicer than this practice to be honest) - for $15-18 per unit which isn't cheap either. This is literally $30 per unit. I did not end up getting the service because I was so shocked by the price. Just putting this out there for those considering and not sure of what they will charge you, so you won't have to waste your time like I did. read more

The front staff and office itself are top notch. The first appointment with the doctor was great in terms of getting tons of pictures and them walking through their recommendations I got dermals and Botox to basically no real difference at all. While they give you "free touch ups" for the Botox, when the doctor and I looked at the before/after photos (to which we saw no real change in my face) he couldn't really say much in regards to the fillers . I'm not sure the quality of the fillers and Botox but I've seen no real improvement which is pretty disappointing. Given the cost of $1k+ I'd make sure you don't do both at once and see what's right for you. I will mostly like be going to another place for any cosmetic needs in the future. read more
