I wish I had Mexican food this good back home. The new Horchata was great (but no refills). The service was fantastic. Their tortillas are fresh made in house, but it meant that the nacho chips had a hard time holding up to the weight of the toppings. The salsa was delicious, and they have a spicier green sauce for those that want more heat. I had the Taco Locos from the lunch menu. They were really good street taco style tacos, but both the grilled and fresh white onions were a bit too much onion for me. The menu was massive and included several options if you aren't a fan of Mexican food but had to come here with friends or family. Definitely recommend! read more

If Lupe's II Restaurant was near where we lived, we'd come back every week. Most Mexican food restaurants think that the only flavor is HOT! The chef at Lupe II's actually knew that spices, not just hot peppers, will make food taste great. Food that burns your tongue is like negative reinforcement to me. If the food burns my tongue, I'm not going to eat it again. This place is family owned and has original recipes. I had fajita stir fry with yellow and zucchini squash on a bed of rice, with slices of tender chicken fajita meat. Delectable! This was served with a side of guacamole that was savory, not hot. The quality of food was more than I could eat. My husband had skillet enchiladas, with red sauce, topped with strips. He commented that the beef fajita meat was very flavorful, but not hot. I love food made fresh, good quality ingredients, by someone who is a talented chef. The food wasn't expensive either. If you are ever driving through Vernon, TX, be sure to stop by. Really delicious. The other reviews were right that Lupes has great , fast service; clean restrooms and restaurant, and great food. The salsa and guacamole were hits, but the queso was the favorite. Definitely order queso. The beans are really good, and they offer little baked slightly crisp potato cubes as a side. Our group had and enjoyed tacos and enchiladas, but I recommend the rolled quesadillas and chimichangas. Yes, they are fried, and you will love them. read more

Just left Lupe's, visiting Texas form Santa Barbara. Lupe's blows any California Mexican restaurant outta the water. Everything is on point from the flavor , to the plate portion, to the decor , & customer service. Our waitress was extremely hospitable, the kids loved her, very delightful lady. The manager was at the front with a smile greeting everyone. & the entire staff was joyful, literacy smiles ear to ear. It looks like this restaurant has great moral , I love that. When people are happy with their employer, the energy is contagious , & the the business flourishes . The quality of shrimp , was the best. It's hard to find quality seafood in inner states. Their produce & protein is quality , without outrages pricing, very generous. Coming from Cali we're not used to such generous portions, one plate can be shared between a couple. KIDS MEALS! AWESOME! While in Vernon on a Saturday night we were happy to find a place open since we arrived a bit late. Lupe's staff and waiters were very friendly and attentive . The food was good - fajita enchiladas and shredded beef tacos. I'd probably skip the margarita next time, it was too tart and tasted like a mix. Maybe they will improve on the recipe.
