Had lunch here today! The food was fabulous as always. Where else in town can you get dinner a show. A disgruntled customer came into the restaurant today. Rosa handled it with dignity and grace. Back to the food! I ordered the taco trio with rice and beans. My friend ordered steak fajita plate. The portions are so generous we had a meal to take home with us. I also purchased a dozen tamales. OMGoodness!!! It's been a while since we've been here. My husband and I ordered the BIG breakfast burrito! It was soooooo good!!! The salsa was hot, but not burn your lips off hot! It took a couple years, but I came back to check out this restaurant, it is tiny and cozy. This place has a huge amount of food that you receive. Be advised it is an à la carte type place. You will pay for each item you request if you need salsa, you need a dollop of sour cream or an extra tortilla you will pay $1.50 to 3 dollars per item. My fajitas needed lots more seasoning. They were very greasy, but the portion were huge. When we arrived, the waitress we had was nice, but there was a waitress behind the counter cussing for at least 10 minutes. She was about 10 feet away from our table and was cussing at someone sitting down behind a pillar and she was giving her the 123. She did not care that she was yelling loud enough for all the customers to hear and had all the curse words you could imagine. I was planning to bring a group of seniors here, but with the situation and the unprofessionalism and foul language, there is no way I could take a chance, especially with the food not being seasoned. Chips and salsa were very good. Horchata was bomb. Everything is cooked in lard which makes everything taste similar. The food is authentic. The Chile relleno was not battered and there was some raw egg on my Chile. They also attempted to give me a different dish that belonged to the table next door accidentally. The business is owned and ran by a small family with support of workers. The manager was very sweet and tried giving me various options to make up for the Chile relleno. My stomach was turned and I felt a little sick from the strong egg smell on the Chile relleno. My son liked his food and the workers were overall great people. This might have been a fluke. If I lived close by I would return. The manager ended up gifting us the whole bill and the food was free. read more

Upon entrance I greeted by friendly staff and provided a private table in the corner. The service was friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. Now the food.... Oh my goodness I order the guacamole with lettuce and tomatoes, awesome. The hot sauce was perfectly spicy; however, they have other salsa options on the menu for just $2.00. I added some of the house made salsa they gave for the table (absolutely addicting stuff) for a little extra tartness Birria burrito - delectable. The consommé is very flavorful. The cheese is perfectly balanced and the burrito is well toasted. And of course, the beef was tender to perfection. It's very rich, so if you're not ready for a heavy meal I wouldn't recommend it. We stopped in for breakfast on our way through town. My husband's burrito (meat supreme breakfast burrito was as wide as his chest...see the photo). We both ordered our breakfast burritos smothered. Tortillas were homemade, salsa was very hot and homemade, and the filling was absolutely generous for proteins. One of the best steak burritos I have ever had; the spices on the meat was tasty and the beans was cooked to perfection. The Barbacoa meat was moist and tasted heavenly. I live near the Mexico border but the food at the Gutierrez's is way better than 99% of the restaurant in my area. Friendly and attentive service. This locally owned restaurant is amazing. The service was great and the food was better. This is the real deal folks, Mexican food as it should be. Just about everything is homemade, from the salsa to the tortillas, to just about the entire menu. They do have their own food challenge, for those who are feeling really, really, really hungry. It's a seven (7) pound burrito with everything, well almost everything, in the kitchen goes into this monster. Finish it in 45 minutes and it's free, you get a t-shirt for your efforts. The food here is amazing! My favorite thing in the menu is the Birria Burrito. It's huge and delicious. There's always enough leftover for me to eat the next day as well. Wow, this is the definition of a hole in the wall that has the absolute best food. Do not let the surrounding area turn you away from eating here, you will not regret. To start off, when you walk in, it's a very small compact area with some tables but the place is PACKED. However, we got seated right away! It's a family restaurant and the whole family works there, they're the sweetest group of people. They are extremely attentive and nice. I got the Red Enchilada meal with two enchiladas, beans and rice with some lettuce and tomato on the side. It was absolutely amazing. I also got a side tortilla with it and this was hands down the BEST part of my meal. The tortillas are huge and hand made by the mom. I normally don't like plain tortillas but they were seriously amazing. My husband got a burrito with beef, eggs, potatoes and onions. He loved it, it was HUGE. Best part of being on a road trip is exploring food in the neighboring places. This small old house looking place is very misleading from outside. When you get inside the whiff of salsa and yummy food is enough to get you excited on what to order. The staff was so kind and helpful explaining the menu to us and sharing some ideas for addons. Meanwhile we were served some crispy nachos and super spicy house made salsa. Although I was tearing up at every bite, it was so tasty I couldn't stop eating. My husband landed up finishing the entire bowl and was ready to ask for more. The service was so quick that by the time we were done with the chips and salsa, the chicken quesadilla was ready. And omg it was such a large serving size with so much rice and beans. I enjoyed every morsel of it and was sad I couldn't finish. My husband had the chicken Fajita which was so big, spicy and oozing of amazing flavors. Honestly I found it amazing.
