Wonderful wonderful WONDERFUL! What a nice little gem hidden away In small town. We were on the road to Amarillo, where we were stopping for the night, and we drove 10 miles out of the way because of all the great reviews. My husband grumbled about it and I was so happy everything was so great, made the detour worth it. The restaurant is CLEAN! The bathroom is impeccable. The waitress was so welcoming and friendly with such a beautiful smile. She made recommendations, knew her menu and was quick with everything. I ordered the create your own plate and got two chicken enchiladas covered in the verde sauce and a tamale in Chile sauce. The verde sauce was sooooo flavorful and very very spicy. The chicken in the enchilada was tender and well seasoned. Overall delicious enchilada. The tamale was just as good. Great meat to masa ratio. My husband ordered the beef fajitas at the mere price of 13 dollars! Wow! He was a huge fan. The meat was tender and flavorful. Perfectly grilled up with peppers and onions all over the sizzling....and I mean sizzling platter. My daughter got a kick out of the steam and sizzling. Great experience and I'm sad this place is 800 miles away from us in Colorado. We will definitely visit again when we drive to Texas next. This is a must try! read more

First of all .. we were able to park easily in our 18 wheeler .. we were greeted n seated as we walked in .. the waitress was nice n friendly!! We had our food in less then 7 minutes and it was amazing !!! We both got full on 17$ worth of some amazing Mexican food !!!! We will definitely be back!!! Just a couple miles off 287E. We had the super burrito (should be called the super super burrito) and taco salad. Both were very good! The taco meat was of great quality. The salsa and chips they sent along with us were great too. Actually, the salsa is one of the best I have had. Very slight kick but really quite good (we like ours hot). The customer service was great, decent prices, the inside is open and again the location was superb. Definitely give this place a try if you are passing through and wanting a good Mexican meal. read more

Nice little Tex-Mex restaurant with fresh crisp chips and a decent salsa. The prices are good and they cover the spectrum of Tex-Mex favorites with a few extras like empanadas (not always easy to find on menus). We were driving through the area and decided to give it a try. We were so glad we did! The chips and salsa were delicious! The waitress kept refilling the huge baskets of delicious chips and generous servings of salsa! The green salsa was spicy and delicious as was the queso! We ordered combo fajitas which were plenty to share and delicious at a very fair price! The waitress was so attentive and kind! The kids ordered cheeseburgers and grilled cheeses which came with huge servings of fries. They loved it all and asked to come back here every week! Looked on Yelp to find a dine in restaurant to stop and eat on the way from Amarillo to Dallas. Carlitos was the first restaurant review, and we decided to give it a try based on the positive reviews. We sure are glad we stopped! The food was delicious. My husband is a salsa snob, and he couldn't get enough of it. The cheese enchiladas were delicious, and our sons all really liked their meals (steak ranchero, nachos, and beef enchiladas). I'm not always a fan of refried beans, but Carlitos' were so so good! Traveling with our 3 boys, I treated myself to a frozen margarita. I may be considered somewhat of a margarita connoisseur and not always impressed, and I give theirs two thumbs up! Will definitely be stopping in again! read more

Clean, cheerfully decorated and a wonderful wait staff. Always courteous, smiling and helpful. A great meal always started with chips and in house made salsa that is so yummy. We eat there often so there isn't a lot that we haven't tried, Mexican or American menu choices, all are wonderful. We are so lucky in Electra to have Carlitos, the same goes for the Pump City Diner, which is also owned by Carlitos. Highly suggest you give it a try. read more

On a road trip from FL to Vegas, driving through very sparsely populated north/central TX, looking for something authentic Texas/Mexican for a quick lunch. Found this place on Yelp maps about 25 miles out, saw no reviews but decided to give it a shot anyway. Plugged the coordinates into GPS and made our way to Carlitos. Found our way in and were pleased to see the"open" sign up and cars in the parking lot. Friendly hostess sat us right away; attentive waitress showed up to our table very quickly. M-F lunch specials @ $5.99- made for a quick easy menu choice. Told the waitress that we were on the road trip so she asked the kitchen to expedite our order so we could get back on the road quickly. I had the beef crunchy tacos & my friend had the chicken enchiladas. Chips & salsa were served while we waited; chips were light & fresh, still warm, and the salsa was top notch. I ordered a draft Bud Light, but the keg needed replacement- waitress offered bottled or another flavor so I asked for a Miller Lite. As she was heading back to get it I told her if that keg was empty a Coors light would also be OK- got the Coors Light! Very cold and refreshing in a big glass. Food came out quickly- was excellent. Rice was tender and well seasoned, and black beans were warm, spicy and delicious. Seasoning in my taco beef was excellent and the shells were quite crisp. Waitress was very friendly and had a great smile- we'll be back next time we pass through Electra TX! read more

Thanks fellow yelpers. Stopped here at your suggestion on a trip from Dallas to Breckenridge. The bathrooms are indeed very clean. Carlitos serves classic tex mex - we shared a dinner with tacos, tostadas, enchilada, chili relleno and tamale. It was delicious. And get the guacamole - we got the side order for 99 cents. Big chunks of avocado. Definitely drive the extra mile past the sonic of you are looking for tex mex. read more
