It used to be a great place for breakfast burritos, but no more. We had the same experience a couple of weeks ago, but wrote it off as a fluke. It was even worse today. This is a local favorite, has been around for many many years. Most likely lack of real competition in the taste department. If you are passing east on 287 and can wait another 45 min for breakfast burritos then please do yourself a favor and visit Tortilleria Lupitas. The burritos are bigger and much much better all the way from the tortilla to the ingredients! Hands down the best burrito.. They have a full kitchen and menu of all the great dishes.. They have an entire wall of authentic Mexican candies too. If your are starving then Jaliscos is 5th place at best for burritos on 287. read more

This is not to far off the highway, so pretty easy to find. Over all it's a small town local place. Not bad for breakfast or lunch. Not a romantic dinner place. I'm so sorry for posting this,but the food was extremely disappointing. My boyfriend had a burrito supreme for about $7.50. He said the meat tasted good,but the tortilla tasted like raw flour. He did not eat the tortilla and he always cleans his plate plus mine. He took one bite of my rice & stopped. My cheese enchilada plate was $9.99 which is what they go for in my upscale part of Houston. They were mediocre. We drove by Bevo's Burgers which is a family run business. I wish that we had gone there instead. There were lots of cars in the parking lot. The service was friendly. If you want an amazing burrito and you are heading west, I recommend Dalhart Taqueria. They have a location in Dalhart and in Clayton, NM where we stopped on our way to and from CO. We were blown away! I bought 4 carnitas burritos to take home besides my meal. A HUGE burrito is $4.00 and a meal!!! They have a very different homemade green salsa. I saw the box of tomatillos it is made with. They also have pickled onions unlike any that I have ever had. They added a great crunch to the burrito. I haven't written a Yelp review in years, but I want Yelpers to have a foodie's review of TJ. I think the best thing was the salsa. Even the chips were overdone. They did have a chicken or beef burrito plus a side of rice and beans for $6.00 special if you are on a budget. read more

We ended up in Vernon after spending the night in Quanah where there is nothing to do and no place good to eat, and I am so happy we found this place. I couldn't agree more with the other reviewer who said this place has the best breakfast burritos. My husband loved his breakfast too- some spicy scrambled egg thing...I don't remember what it was called because I was too busy stuffing my face with the most delicious breakfast burrito of all time. I mean, we barely talked...just random mmm/yum noises indicating how satisfied we were with our breakfast choices. And chips & salsa with breakfast?? Sign me up. read more

Geez I wish I could confirm this is where I enjoyed breakfast this morning. I think it is. I stopped in with low expectations, ordered the Machaca with rice, no beans. My taste buds nearly jumped off my tongue with joy. It was delicious! Best I've had. If I come this was again I will definitely stop here for a meal. Service very good. Terrible! Wish I could give 0 stars! Walked in and it did not smell like food, more like bleach! Chips were already portioned out in a big stack of baskets making them-what a surprise- stale. Asked for more, the same. I asked what was on the "super nachos", the waitress said they didn't call them that, another responded with the ingredients. Finally the menu said to ask about the dessert of the day & desserts so I did. Our server looked perplexed & said they don't make desserts. My husbands cheeseburger was small & bland, my nachos were covered with #10 can liquid "cheese". Gross! Taco Bell even uses real shredded cheese! When we came n @1pm they were stacking chairs cause they close @2. At 1:41 they locked the front door! Whoever owns this should eat there someday soon cause they're getting ready to lose their shirt & have to permanently have to lock their doors unless they do something different! My first time coming for breakfast burritos and was immediately shocked on how amazing the customer service was. I've lived in Vernon for 3 months and couldn't find a more Authentic Mexican restaurant. All in all, the food was great, and couldn't be happier! Definitely coming back more! read more
