I got a standard gel pedi with a simple flower design. After a bit, I could tell I was in trouble with my technician. She kept trying to fix the nail over and over. The picture shows what I ended up with. They waived the charge for the design, but once I got home and looked closer (had to get my glasses), I could really see what I was left with. $60 and a $15 tip, and my nails aren't fully covered, and now I'm stuck with this design. I called and left a voicemail but got no response. So now I need to find a new nail spa to get this all redone. It really sucks because I loved going there. FYI, Ben is awesome, but I couldn't wait to see him.

The water basins are lined with replaceable plastic. Screens separate you and the service provider. Everyone wears masks. Service providers wear gloves. Chairs, handles etc are wiped after each use. You are required to wash and scrub hands upon arriving. You also must sign a waiver. I paid in cash which was accepted. Beyond all the safety precautions, the experience was great and felt almost normal. It just was so nice to be pampered a little and my feet look and feel so much better.

From the moment I got there, I felt unwelcome. The manager (or owner) came across as rude and dismissive. I asked for a specific sheer nail color, but instead of helping me find a close match or showing me other options, she placed a random pink polish on the counter like she didn't care about what I said. The nail tech just picked up that color and started my nails. She didn't show the color or ask if it was okay. I was so shocked by the lack of customer service that I had to ask my partner to come inside and look through the polish section himself because no one was willing to help me choose another color. I have can't complain about the tech not being talkative, that's a personal preference. However, she repeatedly hit my skin with the electric nail drill. I pulled my hand away more than once because it hurt and she never apologized or acknowledged it. After all that my nails were uneven and shaped whatever way when the service was finished. I don't like bringing race into situations, but I honestly felt it played a role in how I was treated because I can't think of another explanation for the dismissive attitude and horrible service I experienced. I couldn't even express how I felt or my frustration because I didn't want to come off as an angry or upset, black woman. I walked out pissed off, not just with my nails, but with the entire experience. I paid $80 for the pedicure and left a $10 tip, expecting quality service. Unfortunately, my big toenail never dried properly and looked terrible. When I called the salon, I was told to come back and they would fix it. However, I live 45 minutes away, and with wedding events and family in town, making another trip wasn't possible. I could not get there for two weeks. A few weeks later, while I was already in the area for another appointment, I stopped in to have the problem corrected with my one toe. Instead of helping me, the staff couldn't find my appointment under my name or phone number. They even suggested that I may have gone to a different salon. I had to show my payment receipt, tip, and transaction date to prove I had been there. Being questioned for nearly 30 minutes over a service I had clearly paid for was both frustrating and embarrassing. After finally acknowledging my visit, I was told to choose a different polish color because they no longer carried the original shade. I only wanted my two big toes repaired--not a full polish change or another pedicure. The technician who helped me was kind, professional, and apologetic. Unfortunately, she then told me the manager wanted to charge me for the polish change. I couldn't believe I was being asked to pay to correct a mistake that resulted from my original service. Eventually, the technician said she would not charge me, but by then the damage had already been done. What should have been a quick and simple correction turned into an uncomfortable experience where I was made to feel like I was trying to get something for free. Good customer service means standing behind your work and treating customers with respect--not making them prove they were there and then attempting to charge them to fix an obvious problem.
