My mom recently went to this salon expecting a professional service, and instead left completely disrespected and humiliated. She politely asked for her nails to be redone because they were not what she asked for and instead of correcting the set like any decent salon would, the staff argued with her and refused. So she rightfully got up and left. Who wants to pay for something they didn't ask for? But it gets worse. The owner chased my mom outside, recorded her, and called the police over a disagreement about poor-quality nails that she STILL paid for. Yes, paid. And instead of understanding her side, the police sided with the business and handed her a fine and community service. This place doesn't care about customer satisfaction they care about money, control, and intimidation. If you value being treated with respect and decency, don't go here. I came to get a gel acrylic set for a very special occasion, and the reviews seemed promising. i wanted a Cat Eye Ombre gradient with a jelly pink base coat. the base coat itself came off more as a tan color, and I could tell my tech hadn't done gradient, comsidering she kept asking for help from peers. when finally trying, the gradient came out streaky, and not even a gradient. i decided French tips with cat eye instead wouldve been easier for my nail tech, so we changed the design to better fit expectations. in the end, my nail tech literally never used the magnet tool for the cat eye effect, resulting in a frustrating misunderstanding. paid over 70 for mistakes and amateur results. Thanks for the effort, but I'm never coming back again to risk wearing a botched set for two weeks. im repainting it over myself. read more

I'm so sad that I booked with Nancy again and expected what I had received the last time I got my pedicure with her. My appt was at 2, I'm on time and have my color picked out, we sit down and get started and I noticed it was moving a lot quicker than it usually does and she just seemed very distracted. Finally, I'm drying my toes by 235, granted pedicures usually take about 45 minutes to an hour. My pedicure has a 22 minute massage as part of it and she started her timer before she even started to massage my legs. I noticed at 245 she had another client show up to get her nails done. WARNING This nail salon is the worst experience I have ever had. I have been getting my nails done for 10 years and never experienced this. This is my second time at this salon the first time they were a little rough and I didn't go back. However I had a gel x manicure done and wasn't able to get into another solon for a week. I booked the appointment and ended up with a Dai according to his venmo. He completely obliterated my nails. He pulled a hang nail out of my ring and middle finger on my left hand. He then filled my nails so aggressively he was taking my skin off. When I started to bleed I thought he might be putting alcohol on it. I later realized I was incorrect. He was putting liquid bandage on my skin. By the time I noticed it was too late. As a health care worker I think liquid bandage is the stupidest thing to be invented let alone used on multiple different people. My fingers were flaming red by the time I left and in the next two days became infected. I have been to the doctors multiple times in the past month, I have been on antibiotics for weeks with about a 75% recovery and wasn't able to use my left hand for over two weeks. My fingers are still in horrible pain and look disgusting. I would NEVER recommend this salon let alone this nail tech. They will be reported to the board. Hopefully no one goes to this salon let alone receives the same treatment. read more

I wanted to really like this place because it is close by and gives the vibe of a really nice nail salon. The first time I went before a family vacation. The woman doing my pedicure wasn't paying attention and over sanded my foot. Which was quite painful. She also took my card and asked for another card saying it wouldn't go through. I gave her a another one and found it out when I went home that both cards were charged. My husband went to get a refund on one card and they couldn't help. We had to wait one month to dispute the charge. Ughh. I decided to give them another chance a few weeks ago because I needed to tale off the gel they had put on. I wanted a regular manicure because I don't get them done ever, etc. the woman keeps trying to convince me and gives me the UV light thing. I told her I don't want gel and she said to put my hand in. Here I am thinking maybe I don't know what I'm talking about. Anyways, I tried to take the polish off. It's gel and won't come off. She dod a really sloppy job also. I took some pics as soon I got home. The edges are sloppy and my hands are dry af. I realized that there was no lotion or hand massage given. hi, I am not one to complain much about anything and if it's not a big deal, I let it go however I talk up this nail bar to my friend . I have to remember I get a simple polish gel polish and if not, always put on nicely, but I'm easy OK however my friend who gets a fill for her long nails and also likes art done on her nails. OK so we go in for our appointments show them the picture explain to them that it is a Matt nail polish, etc. OK so as we're getting our nails done and my friend notices that there's gaps on the side nail that are missing some acrylic she goes to and shows the girl and she said ok. and continued on. the nails painted and are shiny OK whatever they're gonna be shiny I guess I asked for Matt but whatever I'm not gonna make a big deal but then they don't follow the design. The one girl that did the design was (because the other girl didnt know how) was rude and rushy. but to spend $70 to have your nails look lile a school student had done them is pretty shity . She goes home looks at her nails. One hand is Matt and one hand is shiny you know she let the other stuff go, but my God are you serious you should've done better. I'm really disappointed really really disappointed. Unfortunately we won't be back. Now to be fair I think both girls we had hardly knew any English if not none so there is that barrier. I haven't been the type to make time or allocate money to getting my nails done. I found Mail Bar & Spa on Yelp when looking for a local place to go with my daughter for a girls day. First off, they have a HUGE selection of colors, I've been really happy with what I have to choose from. Secondly, They have small pink pedicure chairs for kids my daughters age (she's 5) they're adorable and sized for our tiny humans who want to get pampered. The staff were all super nice to me and my daughter. The nail tech I had both times, Krissy I think her name is, is by far my favorite person to ever do my nails. She's very sweet and takes the time to file out the extra gel powder from underneath your nails which is one huge reason I hate getting mine done. It catches tons of stuff and I compulsively pick at it and I don't have that when she does my nails. I have no idea price wise how it stacks up against other salons and to be honest I don't really care I've been totally happy with my nails both times I went. For a full set with gel powder, gel polish it was 40$ I think and for a fill with gel powder, and this super sparkly amazing mermaid sparkle polish it was 40$ If I continue to get my nails done I will for sure continue to go to Nail Bar & Salon and will hope to get Krissy! *update I'm pretty disappointed in my last visit. I went Thursday afternoon and the woman who worked on my nails did a pretty poor job. There was a large glob on my left nail of the topcoat I had to try to trim down and then the topcoat and decorative polish was flaking and peeling away by day two. I spent 68$ including tip on these and would now feel more cautious about who I get when i go to this salon. Anyways, I wanted to try out Gel X nails for the first time for my birthday. I was told while making my appointment that my lady was so skilled and I'd be so happy with her. First she tried to convince me not to get Gel X because "they don't last as long" which isn't true. So we proceeded... I had to argue to get a refund because it says in one place 3 hours and another place 5 hours. They have inconsistent rules and can't expect people to know this. This review is based on the 4 times that I've been to Nail Bar & Spa in the the past month. 1st visit was a great experience I did a classic gel manicure & Mojito pedicure. I definitely recommend the pedicure. It felt so nice and my feet felt great for the next few days. 2nd visit was to get a few nails repolished because they started peeling after a week. 3rd & 4th visit was for gel polish change. 3rd visit was good. I got my nail color changes and it mantained nicely. My only complaint is that my nails we bloby and uneven. 4th visit- Hand & Toes gel change - this visit is what makes me not sure if I want to come back. My nails were wrapped to remove gel polish then I was taken to the pedicure chair to have my toe polish removed. I still had my nails wrapped while the tech was working on my toes but she left my fingers wrapped long that my finger tips started burning. I had to ask for her to remove the foil. My nails we cut and filed unevenly and I have some nails that are not fully painted ( the side of my nails where the skin is) What I like about Nail Bar and Spa- 1) they are clean 2)well organized 3) the staff is nice Dislike- 1) they are too effiencient to where the quality is effected. But she did clip the sides too much for the shape I wanted. When I had picked from the sample colors, I picked the color that matched my picture exactly. But she put the polish on and it was a completely different color than what the sample had even shown. As someone who only gets their nails done once or twice a year I prefer if they looked good. The design I got ended up uneven and slightly see through as there was only one coat. I was cut several times, you would think after the first cut she would lay off a little. After being cut she used alcohol to wipe my fingers a few times and this burned the cuts she had just made. At the end of service she put an oil on my fingers that came from a dirty looking bottle and the applicator was a reusable one that I'm upset touched my open cuts on my fingers and has also been on countless hands. I don't know how they charged me with a smile on their face as if my fingers weren't looking like trash. It wasn't clean, design sub-par, and I just pray I don't get an infection. Update: I have changed my review from 1 to 4 stars. I was contacted by The Nail Bar yesterday and they seemed genuinely concerned that I was unhappy with my service. I went back in the next today and saw Kim. She assured me that they honor their satisfaction guarantee. If you aren't happy, let them know right away and they will make it right. That's a level of service I don't often find in this industry. Everyone i came in contact with was very kind. I definitely appreciate being offered a beverage and the shoulder massage while drying is a very nice touch. I will be coming back and look forward to trying a pedicure as they look amazing. My only advice would be to book an appointment since they are so busy. And if you're looking for eyelash extensions they offer that as well. Thanks Kim for the excellent service! Update: nail color barely lasted a week. If that. It started peeling off within a few days. Sigh. Waited nearly a half hour, my nail tech (who is the manager?) left me in the middle of doing my nails around a dozen times and this is what my nails look like. I asked if she could do the design. Not kind of do the design. Because, by the way, the photo of the design is from this yelp page. She didn't shape the nails and they're all different lengths and shapes. She barely spoke to me but yelled around at every one else. Why is it that Apple Valley cannot get a decent nail place? I'm going to have to reshape all of my nails and because she filed some down massively and others barely (because she barely looked at my nails while doing them), they'll all have to be shortened and cleaned up since she painted my skin to the nails and some areas are ragged along the edges. Also I'm now noting bubbling of the color. You have got to be kidding me. I'll update with how long the polish even lasts. Not a good sign at this point. read more
