We made reservations for Sunday brunch earlier in the week and it did not disappoint! The brunch menu has a lot of great options, so much that it was hard to choose. Our party had the chicken and biscuit, crab cake Benedict and the red velvet waffle and all was delicious. I'm not normally a fan of breakfast potatoes, but these were actually really tasty and portion sizes were more than enough. We had some breakfast cocktails, the Moscow mule and the bacon bloody which were just okay, I'd probably forgo both next time and try the dark and stormy instead. Service was excellent and I was glad we made reservations although the tables seemed to turn fairly quickly, especially if you are a smaller party. It's extremely noisy so don't expect to have any deep meaningful conversations - you should be focusing on your food anyway! Will definitely be returning. read more

Food good. After sitting and ordering the food wait time on May 28th, with a half full restaurant, was close to 50 minutes. This is my 3rd visit. Each time the wait is something you better plan on. What is so disappointing was the parking ticket on my windshield. The gravel lot across the street has two separate parking lot management groups I found to the tune of $33 extra cost. I paid $5 to a company's kiosk that was 50 feet from my vehicle. Then double that for my son's vehicle. What a scam!! My meal ran $220 plus a $60 tip. Then $38 x 2 for parking. Thus Dad pays $352 for a brunch. I'm not planning on coming back. Sorry downtown Richmond shouldn't let that type of parking debacle to occur!! read more

I went to Lulu's today with a group of friends/classmates for Sunday brunch. We actually had a get-together the day before (to weather the hurricane) which lasted until 2AM, so it was a little hard getting up this morning, but it was totally worth it! Lulu's is an amazing restaurant! It looks like you should expect a wait if you walk-in, but fortunately, we had a reservation for our large group of 10. I ordered one of their fish specials, which was very tasty (although the sauce was a bit tart, and this is coming from someone who loves adding a ton of lemon juice to his fish). Everyone else's dishes looked super scrumptious too, so I definitely want to come back and try other things. I'm especially looking forward to the Red Velvet Waffle! Decor and ambience were lively and exciting, the waiter was very helpful (he was willing to split our check ten ways!), a fellow restaurant patron helped take our group photo for us, and the food quality/taste was absolutely top-notch. My only reservation is that the food is a little pricey, so I probably can't come here too often! read more

Came here for brunch on a Sunday afternoon. It was packed! I strongly suggest making a reservation or you could be waiting over an hour to get a seat. They do have a bar there, that is very busy as well, but if you let them know you want to sit at the bar they will look out for you. We sat at the bar, as we didn't have reservations and didn't want to wait almost 2 hours to dine in. The food was amazing. I had the Crab Cakes Benedict, although the crab cake was slightly small, it was full of so much flavor. The egg was cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was perfect. Although the bar was busy the bartender was full of life. My friend enjoyed the lobster biscuit. That biscuit was perfect! There wasn't lobster in the actual biscuit but was on top, then was topped with eggs and hollandaise. A decent portion and a decent lump of lobster meat. Came out hot and ready to eat! Restuarant is right off the farmers market. There are windows looking right out to the market. Open restaurant concept so even when its crowded doesn't seem like it. Party of 2 at 11:30 on a Saturday afternoon, 30 - 45 minutes wait. Yikes! Luckily, we found 2 seats at the bar. My friend went with that. I went with the tropical Mimosa (Mimosa with rum). First of all, their mimosas are served in a regular soft drink/soda glass just to give you an idea of how much champagne you'll be consuming in one drink. I'm all here for it, no complaints here. I glanced over a few dishes of those around me and it all looked so good. I noticed a few patrons with the French toast. I'm a French toast girl myself but didn't want the bread this time so I decided to order the Atlantic Omelet. I could be wrong with the name but it is an omelet stuffed with crab meat, shrimp, onions and Swiss cheese. It's everything a seafood lover would want in a seafood omelet. House potatoes accompanied the omelet. I was in absolute heaven! It was delicious. My friend ordered the Red Velvet Waffle with Chicken with scrambled eggs. I believe sausage gravy came with it, on top of the chicken maybe, but my friend asked for her gravy on the side. We both thought the waffle was only ok and we've both had better elsewhere. I had such a juicy flavor, The potatoes were spicy and the sauce that came with the omelette was delicious, did not need any ketchup or any other additives. The service was the high point- we arrived 30 minutes before our reservation (by mistake) and were still accommodated. Our server was friendly, though he never introduced himself by name. Our table was wobbly, which was pretty annoying, although our server did get us a big pile of napkins to help. The food was just "meh." There are several places in the immediate vicinity that I would prefer for brunch. The coffee was a strong French brew, which I enjoyed. Went to LuLu's today for brunch. The biggest problem I had was that my shrimp and grits and side of grits were cold. When we got our food our server took about 20 mins to come out and check on us. By that time other people in our party were almost finished their food. If my server had come out after we received our food the cold grits situation could have been remedied. I really wanted this place to be amazing. Great menu, funky decor, obviously fab spot BUT it just wasn't. We were here for brunch and it was busy at 10 ! However, our service was spotty (which wouldn't be the end of the review but the quality of food wasn't great either) The food came out over a span of about 10 minutes - we had to ask where the chicken & waffles were. Once we tried our brekkie and shared our plates, we realized the poached eggs were hard boiled, the fried chicken biscuit was dry and the guac I asked for came out as 3 thin avocado slices. My huevos rancheros were pretty good but in a place like RVA which literally has delicious brunch spots lining the streets, this just wasn't up to snuff.
