This place is located in Jamie Fox town and the service is very pure and southern. I've seen this place as a brunch option for East Dallas and never thought I'd ride by. Today we were riding and saw it and I immediately said "Let's check them out". We entered a little after noon and the brunch menu was no more, however they have a weekend brunch buffet which was $12.99 for the children and $22 for adults I (my husband and I didn't get it but I recall the server sharing the rate). The boys had the buffet and the staff was exception. I shared with them that the boys don't eat meat in reference to the Monte Crisco sandwich on the buffet and the staffer went back to the kitchen and made them a non meat version not once but twice. They were so accommodating and it increase the experience. The decor was so awesome on the windows which flowed into the festive inside decor which provided and increase in Holiday Spirit

We visited for the first time yesterday to give the restaurant a try. We were given the lunch menu, which surprised us since I didn't see any lunch-specific pricing. We all ordered the burger, which had a base price of $15.99. They asked if we wanted fries or onion rings--I chose the onion rings--but we weren't told there was an additional charge of $1.99 for them. We also added grilled jalapeños, which had a $1.00 upcharge. The burger itself was good quality, though it was heavily salted. With lighter seasoning, it would've been great. You're also expected to choose your own toppings and add them to your burger yourself. We asked for mustang and mayo, but they only had Grey Poupon and no regular American mustard. By the time I was done, with tip, lunch came to over $28.00. Ouch!

We came back for Valentine's Day, and we again had a nice dinner. The tables all had roses and candles for a romantic evening. The food was excellent! I had the pork chop and my husband had the steak. We each had the bistro salad, and we shared the fun dessert flight!

The food and service were outstanding. We had the best steaks we have ever had or remember. One was ribeye and the other was filet Mignon. We found this jewel in Terrell, Tx! The place was beautiful inside. We will return with more family next time!

The food was great! Blueberry biscuits with glaze toasted almost like cake. So delicious The waitress was very attentive and friendly. She knew the menu inside and out and her recommdation for dessert was spot on! I loved this place the moment we walked in the door. It is very pretty and wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair. Plenty of parking on the side.

I had high hopes for this place. I was excited to know there was a local place that we didn't have to drive too far to get brunch. I was wrong.... We opted in for the buffet. Not too bad of a start. They had mini monte cristo, eggs, bacon, rosemary potatoes and biscuits and gravy. The second round was when it all fell apart. They ran out of plates and had little to none food left. I decided to get an omelette since most of the food was depleted. The cook was courteous but really needs to spend some more time on presentation and cooking times. As you can see from my picture, my omelette is raw. I'm not sure what technique he was using but he never flipped my omelette over to cook the other side. When he slid it on the plate he then used the bottom of the pan and pressed it against the omelette to I'm not sure what he was doing. I didn't even try to eat the omelette and we just asked for the check. To top it off we asked for an iced coffee flight in the beginning. They told us they weren't sure if they had any left but ended bringing us one half done. It was missing the homemade whipped cream on the top that it came with. I was sad because I saw anther table receive theirs and it was garnished with whip and looked beautiful. The server did end up bringing a soup cup filled with whipped cream after but we were halfway done with the coffee by then. We tried Lula Mae, but we will not be returning.

My son Ricky just started bartending & serving here and they are working diligently to work out all the kinks to provide y'all the utmost memorable dining experience. If you haven't tried them yet, you should. Just remember to be patient while knowing that Beverly and all her staff appreciate y'all.

    Steak & mashed potatoes

Lula Mae's is in downtown Terrell and is super cute with exposed brick & a good vibe. It's decorated to be nice, but not snooty. The bartender is great and they have a variety of mixed drinks. I don't remember the name of the one I tried, but it was yummy! The food was delicious as well. My steak was cooked to perfection-tender and well seasoned. The mashed potatoes are definitely homemade and they are delightful! The crème brûlée cheesecake was a perfect finish as it was rich and delectable. Service was great & our server was good with explanations & recommendations. I hope Lula Mae's is here to stay!!

Went during soft opening, very quiet could hear everyone's conversations. Food did take awhile but everything was fresh. Given they are in a soft opening I was impressed. Def going back!

And whenever we take a drive like that, we make it our mission to find a highly rated local lunch spot. This one was on the way home and looked promising, so in we went. I will say this for Texas. Onion rings are everywhere here, far more than when I lived in California. I will happily take that as a win, because the heat for about nine months of the year is not my jam. Sadly, the onion rings were not listed as one of the many sides (so we couldn't get them as a side with our meal), but we ordered them as an appetizer ($8.99 I think) with blue cheese dressing. I am not a ranch girlie, and I stand by that choice. The blue cheese had huge chunks in it, which makes me think it might be house made (bonus point!). Now, the rings. I am firmly Team "Battered" Onion Ring over Team "Breaded", and these absolutely delivered on the team battered. They were almost chicken-fried, -- super craggly, crispy, and deeply satisfying. These were the star of the meal, so do yourself a favor and order them - but you need a friend to share them with, its a heavy portion. They also have great lunch specials, most around eleven dollars. I got the pot roast with two sides, refried beans and mashed potatoes with gravy. After indulging in the onion rings, I was not exactly starving, so I ended up with enough leftovers for another full meal. The pot roast was nicely shredded and tender, and the gravy was rich, flavorful, and worth every calorie. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, (he's obviously on a diet!), with fried okra and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was forgettable, but everything else on his plate was solid. Service was friendly and efficient, and this place definitely fills up at lunch, so plan accordingly. A very good roadside stop, and proof that sometimes the best meals happen when you are just out running errands.

Food: Chicken fried steak/ Grilled pork chop there were no complaints. Good portions for the cost and definitely seemed fresh. Even the sides were delicious and fresh tasting. The ONLY downside is parking. I didn't subtract stars for it because there is still enough room to get around. But definitely use cation with bigger vehicles and especially trailers.

I placed an online order through their website for the following: Two (2) 3-piece fried chicken wing dinners with two sides each, priced at $9.99 each as advertised online One (1) catfish dinner Shortly after submitting my order, I received a phone call from a representative stating that I had been undercharged. I was told the online price was an error and that the wings were actually supposed to be $17.99 each, not the price listed on their own website. They wanted to recharge me an additional amount for a price that was not advertised online. I was honestly shocked. I paid exactly what their website reflected at the time of purchase. After speaking with a manager, I was told I had only two options: pay the upcharge or receive a full refund. I chose the refund. What was most disappointing is that the restaurant did not honor their advertised price, even though the mistake was theirs--not mine. I did not argue or request they honor the price because I don't feel comfortable having food prepared when there is already a disagreement or questionable business practice involved. As a result, I've placed Ida Mae's on my "do not dine" list. I believe in fair and honest business practices, and this experience fell short of that standard.

Saturday night dinner at Belle Vie Bistro was very nice! I honestly would give it about 4.5 stars,…read morenot a 5, as that implies perfection. But they are definitely making the effort to deserve respect. First, we were seated promptly and our server was very responsive, so much so that we hadn't even had a moment to peruse the wine menu before she arrived. I would recommend that the servers be trained to bring water and the bread and butter without asking in order to offer the guests a chance to settle in for a moment. (Fresh french bread and good butter, by the way. I don't usually indulge in that, but I had 2 slices.) And if a guest asks to sample a wine, the answer is always "Yes." They are going to order wine, they just don't know if it will be that one. Both my wife and I started with side salads, which were great. Very fresh greens, and dressings that were obviously made in-house and delicious (awesome lemon vinaigrette on the bistro salad and a truly great Caesar dressing.) I should mention that their wine selection is made up of good labels you probably drink regularly, with a few neat additions that are worth a try. My wife ordered the grilled salmon cooked to her preference, and it was served that way. She really liked the lemon sauce with which it was served, along with risotto and al dente veggies including squash, zucchini and carrots (well seasoned.) I had the duck confit, and it too, was very good. Mashed potatoes made in house (again, well seasoned) with the same grilled vegetables. I appreciate many things about this restaurant. Frankly, I don't understand why it wasn't packed. The lighting is nice, the music is just perceptible so as not to be intrusive. The service is very attentive, and the food is really good. The price point is reasonable. The most expensive meal on the menu is about $35, but they offer plenty of great options for less. Having written a brunch review for this restaurant before on Google, I noticed that they take the input from their clients seriously, and I appreciate that. This is a place that is putting in the work, and it shows. I forgot to mention that they have a barista on staff even in the evenings, and pastries that are made by an actual French pastry chef (I indulged in the Croissant Aux Aumandes on our previous visit, and it is absolutely legit.) Parking on the square in Rockwall can be an issue, and Belle Vie is in the middle of the block, so maybe it is somewhat overlooked, but it is definitely worth a visit. I'll be going back pretty soon for the lamb at dinner time. I also want to try their French onion soup and French dip. You should go. You won't be disappointed.

Don't get the steak if you care how it's cooked…read more I ordered medium well, it came out medium rare. The waiter asked if I would cut into it to check other parts. I refused because I just needed to jiggle it with my fork and knife to see that it was underdone. They took it back and it came back half medium and half slightly over medium well. What's killing me is that I was told that they had checked it the second time and I could see several cuts on the steak (that's crazy that the chef/cook had to figure out doneness that way). But one of the openings in the steak was clearly medium, which he later affirmed. So, I'm not sure what they checked before! The non-bloody parts of the steak did taste good, though. So, if you don't care about doneness, go for it. Also, they had weird plating on the steak. Go for the board or go for plates but this awkward plates on a cutting board means you delicately try to not knock anything off. Pro tip: scrape it all onto the board The calamari was tasty except the plate was half fried zucchini. Slick move to get $16 out of me for a tempura plate. Otherwise, service was pretty slow although the restaurant was maybe 1/4 occupied. I had my doubts since the spot a couple doors down had a one-hour wait. Should've trusted my gut.
