    Two Meat Plate

Saw their sign on the interstate as we were traveling and pulled in. As we entered it smelled like heaven if you love BBQ. The sign inside indicates that they have been serving Texas since 1974. The ribs and brisket both were right on spot. My friend stated his chicken and the baked potato was also good. We will stop again if craving BBQ and in this part of Texas. You enter and go through a cafeteria style line and the folks serving are very friendly and helpful! Local celebrities have eaten here such as Governor Rick Perry and Owner Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys.

I would give just one start but I have to admit that I did eat all of the sausage. Everything else went straight into the trash. I ordered the two meat plate for $22. I had ribs, sausage, Mac n cheese and fried okra. Pro: the presentation is excellent for a drive thru bbq spot. The sausage cut on a diagonal and ribs all uniformly cut. Cons: Mac n cheese was dressed with breadcrumbs and very cheese however the cheese tasted more like off off brand cheese product. The ribs looked pretty but were soo smoky that it completely ruined the nice texture of the meat. Lastly, the sausage was seasoned with the essence of spaces because it had no flavor. The casing had a nice bite but the meat just tasted like blah. The fried okra breading was thick and flavorless. The regular bbq sauce didn't add and flavor. Overall, this was a waste of my money. This is the spot for you if you like bland food. Drive thru service is quick.

My husband and I wanted quick bbq. We have passed by Soulman's bbq for a while now and today we decided to try it. First and foremost the staff there was very friendly and welcoming. The place itself was clean and cozy. My husband and I got the baked potatoes stuffed with chopped brisket. I was pleased because the gentleman removed the fat from the brisket before chopping and placing it on the potato without even asking. I wish they gave a little bit more meat (chopped brisket) on the potatoes other than that it was well made. The quality of food is really good considering we are use to eating at Pecan Lodge and all the yummy places in California. Will definitely visit again if we are wanting a quick bbq joint.

We were in town for a tournament and we love good BBQ- this spot did not disappoint! Don't let the lackluster interior fool you.. the food was SO GOOD! I made a rookie Yelp error and dug in before I got any food pics... but the turkey was perfectly moist with a good Smokey flavor and the pulled pork was out of this world delicious and tender. I liked that they had all of the meats displayed out for you to see and they slice it fresh infront of you. Don't skip the dessert! The buttermilk pie was just as tasty as my granny's!

Operation: Soul Full.. Mission accomplished! Stopped in en route home and we're so glad we did! Everything we had was cooked perfectly. The smoked chicken & turkey were tender and the sausage had great flavor. Their mac n cheese was rich and creamy. If you like a little spice in your life, I high suggest pairing the hot bbq sauce with your meat of choice. Overall, it was an enjoyable dining experience. We will return.

Food was good, stopped in for quick bite after long day of travel and was pleasantly surprised. Nothing blew me away, but I was happy with everything. Service was fast because I was only one there, but had good selection available for early evening dining and got my BBQ fix.

    Bowl of fried okra

why won't I learn stop stopping at Soulman the prices are way too high for the quality and the quantity!!! Over $5 for this bowl of fried okra. Lesson learned drive one mile and get 10 times the amount for the same price and Better quality too.

Dry ribs all three times. Over seasoned too. They say they are not skimpy on the meat but they are. No soul in this man's food!

Nice stop on the road, good food, and service was also really good! I would rather this over a fast food stop on the road.

Most bbq places don't focus on the bread and theirs was so fresh and tasted wonderful. The shop was amazing too. The peach pickles are so good that we bought some. In addition, the peach ice cream was some of the best ice cream I've ever had. The peach flavor was smooth and authentic. So good! This was a fun outing!

It's…read morea nice little spot to have some fairly good BBQ and as others have mentioned, shopping for a lot of goodies containing peaches. I'll go ahead and get this out of the way: You can't actually pick peaches here, presumably due to legal. But they do have times where berries can be picked, although we didn't do that on our visit. Upon arrival, we were hungry, so we headed to the BBQ window, operated by area BBQ provider Eddie Deen. The sandwiches themselves were quite good, with a special nod to the peach pulled pork sandwich, which was outstanding. A generous portion of distinctly peach infused but not crazy sweet pulled pork was piled atop a fresh soft bun, it was a delight to eat. Unfortunately, the side dishes were very pedestrian and almost seemed like they were prepackaged or from a foodservice provider. But definitely get that sandwich. Moving into the store, there are tons of products available, including the incredible peach pickle slices that were served with the BBQ (great way to market the product), we picked up a package and have been loving them at home. But the best product we tried, hands down, was the peach soft serve, and I mean, it was fantastic. Impossibly smooth, delicious flavor, definitely on the sweet side. If anyone from Ham is listening, though, let me offer a bit of advice. You are seriously missing the boat by not offering a smaller serving of this stuff. GLP-1 and other factors are leading many to try to eat less and keep the treats to a manageable level; offering a "small" that's literally half the size of the current smallest offering, at 2/3 of the price, would help people with their portions and help you guys print money. Seriously, this would be a great addition to the lineup. Bottom line, it's a cool place to take the kids and most of the adults, and if you want to get your peach on, it's the place to go.

As with all Buc-ee's locations, you can expect the cleanest and most plentiful bathrooms in the history of mankind, enough gas pumps for an entire town (I think, I just did a napkin count), and all of the snacks and hot food that you could possibly want, to say nothing of an expansive merch selection. So what's not to like? Nothing. Nothing is not to like, it's just a great place that never fails to deliver on everything. My official hot tip for this and all Buc-ee's: check out the coin battery prices, those little round guys, for some reason, are cheaper here than almost almost anywhere else. There's another Buc-ee's closer to our home, it's my destination for those pesky CR2025 and CR2032, which seem to get slurped up by our devices. My Overall Rating - 4 1/2 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Facility, Return) Atmosphere - Buc-ee's is big, busy, and always crowded. If you're an introvert, I recommend you stay in the car. Walking into a Buc-ees is like walking into a Walmart. Same lighting, same item you can buy, and tons of people. 1/2 Stars. Service - Hats off to the Buc-ee's staff, because while it's always super crowded, I've never had to wait long because there are so many checkout stations and the staff are so nice and helpful. Everyone, from the staff making the BBQ to the fudge counter, everyone is super helpful. 1 Star. Facility - The bathrooms at Buc-ee's have earned legendary status. They're clean, the line moves fast, and it leaves you plenty of time to shop for....ANYTHING. Need pool supplies? Check. Flamin' Hot Cheetos? Check. Cookies? Check. Clothes? Check. You get the idea. The staff chops up fresh brisket sandwiches for you to grab and go. For me? I always grab the sugar roasted pecans. I can eat a cone of these sweet, warm treats in one sitting. Oh, Buc-ee's has gas too. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I'll plan my road trips around spending time at Buc-ee's. It's always a great rest stop where I can refuel my car and my body. 1 Star.

The employee who took our order seemed to be unhappy about something as we received attitude for simply ordering two Philly cheesesteaks combos. (Pleasant employees make happy customers, Unhappy employees make for bad reviews) The dining room was filthy the drink station was nasty and the ketchup dispenser was empty and partially disassembled (broken) and the trash can was full and overflowing. These details are all important because there were no less than 8 to 12 employees only half of which were actually working the other half were milling around. I'm hoping it was just a bad day in the grand scheme of things because I did have high hopes for this location as it is the closest to me. I will revise this review if anything changes but in my experience, they rarely do. as the old saying goes first impressions are everything The only reason I gave them three stars was despite everything above the food did come out as expected, the food was tasty and the portions were the right size for the price. DO NOT EAT HERE! Jones BBQ is the antithesis of everything…read moreI hold dear and know to be true about the restaurant industry. While driving back from Terrell with my brother he makes mention of the guy who is selling BBQ from his house a few doors down and how it was pretty decent the last two times he tried it. I said something along the lines of," Oh yeah? What is he smoking with?" To which my brother replied, " I don't think he is smoking it, I think its boiled or something. " " Boiled!?" " Yea, but it tastes good!" I love my brother dearly, but upon hearing this BBQ blasphemy I wanted to pull his Native Texan man card and beat him about the head and face in a pugilistic manner. Instead I simply said, " Well I guess I'll have to try it out if you say its that good." *Smirk* We get a few more miles down the road and I see the most asinine cardboard sign on a wooden stake that reads "BBQ and More" in letters that surely could have only been painted by a four year old with a sponge brush. We go maybe one more mile and I easily spot the place my brother was talking of, I was tipped off by the ten other cardboard 4 year old signs staked in and around the property advertising there brisket tacos and BBQ. So I turn in and drive up to the porch, get out and am greeted by a nice man telling me to come on in. I put my head on swivel mode and look for a smoker anywhere in sight, use my giant snause to try and detect a hint of smoke, alas both attempts failed. So I walk into the "restaurant" and am immediately hit with a smell that can only be explained as eau de body odor, bean juice, onions and boiled beef. Trying not to retch I survey my surroundings only to realize I am in a dimly lit walled off portion of this couples home and it looks like something out of my worse nightmare! To my right is a floral print sofa with a hideous coffee table saying just the opposite of "Take a seat and relax" . I'm pretty sure this one whispered, " Have some Hepatitis C and butterscotch. " To my left was the "kitchen" and I use this term very loosely. It amounted to two warming trays and a microwave on a folding table. I begin to think to myself...this guy cannot be legit. I look around and sure enough there is not a health code permit, dba or hand washing sink insight. Its one thing if your selling stuff on craigslist every now and again for a little pocket change, BUT when you are planning on running a roadside business with no inspections or permits, that is completely wrong. So, I steel reserve myself against the smell and after looking at the menu posted on the wall, I tell the owner I would like a BBQ sandwich. Oh and not that I'm the most clean cut of guys, but the owner and his wife both seemed very unkempt and kind of dirty, even though they both were very nice. The Owner ( should I even say owner, seeing as he has no permits?) gets his tongs out, opens a warming tray and begins to pick through the most disgusting looking vat of fat and meat I have ever seen. Think the scene from Motel Hell when you discover whats really in the stew. Just for my own mirth, I ask, " So whatcha smokin with?" Owner," Oh its not smoked, but it has a smokey flavor, its real good, I plan on gettin me a smoker...you know the long ones? And where going to get us a buildin to and do more than just this, chicken fried steaks and such. Do you like fat on your sandwich? Me, " Well, no not really big globs of fat" He hands me what amounts to a wal-mart bun with 4 slices of nasty ass looking sliced beef in a styro container. I'm a nice guy and I'm not in the business of crushing peoples dream's their faces, so I pay for my sandwich ( four bucks, no tax...go figure) and decide I'll just let my brother eat this since he liked it so much last time. I look for some pickles or sauce of some sort and see a sad looking stand with bottled dill relish, mustard and BBQ sauce. I go to sauce the sandwich and just to cherry on top my experience there is a homemade little foil cap I have to take of the bottle first, lmfao! The Owner made sure I got a business card on my way out so I could use him for caterings because I'm pretty sure in his mind he is serving Gods own BBQ. I honestly felt like punching this guy in the face at this very moment for being so damn downright absurd to everything I have worked so hard to learn and understand about the restaurant industry. I was raised right though so I just smiled and told the guy to have a nice day. Then I punched my brother in the face and told him hes an idiot who deserves to get food poisoning from this place and handed him the sandwich. No I didn't punch him...but I did hand him the sandwich :)
