I discovered this place recently due to the fact that Tong-D was swamped and it forced me to look close by for other Thai food options. I am very please to have discovered Luk Thai. The taste and quality of their food is as good or better than Tong-D in Wakefield. We ordered Pad Kee Mow- very good spicy flavor and all was cooked to perfection. Mango fried rice was also quite tasty. The restaurant was empty, with my parents and I as the only patrons dining. The service was good, though the young woman attending to us had limited English language skills, though it did not create any real problems. Subsequently I ordered out as the initial experience was very good in terms of the quality/taste of the food. My foodie/"food snob" partner gave it a thumbs up and indicated she would dine there again. The prices are cheaper than Tong-D and the quality is comparable. The restaurant is clean, with basic decorations and a no frills type of vibe. It is clearly a small Mom & Pop type restaurant with good relatively cheap prices. The exterior is painted a brright lime green color and the interior is casual. I would suggest you check this place out for take out or dining. Salud! read more

This place never lets me down. I go usually for the Pad Thai Noodles - with either duck or pork. They are hands down the best I have tried in RI, and I have been to many places. Their food is so authentic, there is really no comparison to other restaurants who try to serve pad thai (on every corner..) If you are looking for the most authentic, fresh Thai food around, go to this place. You will love it. I moved 25 minutes away and I still go because I can't find any place near me (Warwick) that serves Thai food just as good. Its also BYOB - which is great for saving money.... Our last two takeout orders from Luk Thai were rough, so we've moved on to other Thai options in the area. The food was sloppy, beige and brown, not well put together, lacking flavor, and too greasy. The takeout here seems to take a lot longer at other options. Flavorless and mediocre. read more

Love this calming Thai restaurant. We usually get the fish cakes and scallion pancakes (yum) and Penang curry or pad Thai with crispy chicken. Always have left overs, always happy to eat them cold the next day. Byob is a plus. read more

I love coming here, the food is always delicious. They have a sweet inexpensive lunch combo. Soup or salad, app and entree for like $11. It's also BYOB. I have been here three times in this small quaint thai restaurant here in Wakefield, Rhode Island. I have observe their service in two following occasions. At one time, their service was nice and quick. But on the second time I entered in this establishment, I only ordered one pad thai for a small dinner for my lovely girlfriend and I. It doesn't take one entrée to make for 45 mins. We ordered just one dish; pad Thai. we paid, we waited... and they told us that they forgot to bring in the order to their chef. we were waiting for our take-out food for a long time and we were in front of the receptionist desk. they need to improve, if they want to bring back their loyal customers. read more

I must start this review by saying the food was very very good. What was so incredibly disappointing was the service was so very very bad. When I say bad I don't mean incompetent but trying hard I mean surly and rude and so unwelcoming. From the moment we arrived we were treated with a surly attitude, the food and utensils were flung down and she couldn't run away fast enough, Questions were answered in short bites with no explanation enough to make you not want to eat there about halfway through the ordering process my husband told me he was ready just to walk out. Asking for things like additional water were not optional I never wore we asked if the food was OK or did we need anything. From start to finish the whole experience was so negative we couldn't wait to get out of there which is very disappointing because the food was very good and all of the reviews were so nice but with so many other Thai options in town we won't be rushing back there. read more

My wife and I visited Luk Thai on Sunday night 3/26/17. We arrived around 7:45 and we're lucky enough to be the only party in there. The music and atmosphere was quite pleasant and the waitdress was super sweet. We started off with spring rolls and spicy wings. The spring rolls where very bland but most of all ice cold, the wings had great spice but under cooked. For entrees we both got different pad Thai noodles, my wife got the crispy chicken on hers and I did the seafood. The noodles where good but her chicken looked like veal super dark on inside and burnt on outside. My noodles where good I wish it was spicier I asked for the hottest level and it was sweet. The seafood was awful, the squid zero taste, Scallops not fishy but zero taste and same with the shrimp. Everything was bland and rubber like taste the mussels where just cold and awful. We didn't complain we just paid the bill and left 25% because the waitdress was a sweet heart and she came to the table and looked at my wife's plate and said chicken no good huh. She said yeah it was over cooked. We asked for boxes and she brought her brand new chicken to go. Which looked amazing and said sorry other chicken was old. We took it home because we didn't want her to feel bad it went in the garbage. My wife actually got sick that night. It's to bad maybe we cought a bad night for them but will not be returning. read more

I usually order the green curry with crispy chicken because it is so good I don't really want anything else. The curry sauce is so full of flavor it never disapoints me. The shrimp Pad Thai is also very good. My favorite Thai restaurant in South County! I have never been disappointed with any dish I have ordered, and the food rivals with what I had when I visited Thailand. Service is always friendly, but can sometimes be a little slow because there is usually only one waitress. Pad Thai, Pad See Ew, and Tom Yum soup are some of my favorites. Hadn't been here in many years as we moved over to a newer Thai Restaurant in Wakefield which is also very good. The plusses for Luk are that it continues to be BYOB and the food is wonderful. The garlic softshell crabs with brown rice were fabulous as was the Panang curry. Next time we would ask for the pineapple excluded as it made it a little too sweet. This restaurant has been restructured since last we were here, and there is more room. The servers are very friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is warm and inviting! The food is good. Not great, but good. The real problem is that I can't understand how they price the dishes. Seven dollars for a quart of BROTH with 5 very small shrimp is absurd. Get Tom Yum at Apsara, or Bangkok City, or even Siam Square for roughly the same price and you'll get at least a quarter pound of shrimp. No word of a lie - there were 5 shrimp, 3 quartered mushrooms, and broth - that's it. The winter rolls are fresh and well made but no shrimp, pork or tofu - just rice noodles, iceberg and mint. One roll 3.50. Same deal, go to any other decent Thai restaurant and you'll pay the same 3-3.50 but get a roll with a shrimp cut in half and some pork strips and tofu cubes. This was the problem before they changed names and it's clear it hasn't changed. read more

Luk Thai is great. The service is extremely friendly and helpful if maybe a little slow. I've only eaten there once, but their lunch specials are definitely good deals. Pad Thai there is a little heavy on the sauce, but it's got a perfect blend of sweet/sour. I plan to go back soon to try other items on the menu. read more

Let me start off on the positive first. The waitstaff were very friendly and attentive and I still like the quaint and comforting atmosphere. Byob is also a big plus. Now the negative....the food was disappointing. I ordered the lemongrass fried rice with shrimp (very small shrimp), which seemed to be lacking the "lemongrass" paste? It was spicy, but it looked and tasted like the the main ingredient of this dish had been left out. My friend had the hot basil fried rice with tofu. It was tasty, but a bit dry. Both dishes are supposed to be served with peppers and onions. They skimped on the peppers and overloaded on the onions. This makes for a poor presentation, as well. The food was served promptly, but it wasn't hot (barely room temperature). I would have sent it back to the kitchen, but I didn't want my meal "nuked", which would of dried out the dish further and overcooked the shrimp. This was early in the evening with very few patrons. There's absolutely no excuse for this. Clearly, not the fault of the waitstaff. As I said, the food was SERVED promptly. The problem is in the kitchen. We also ordered one of the new dishes from their "winter menu" . Not impressed. Small portion, bland, and the meat was of poor quality. Luk Thai used to be one of my favorite asian restaurants in South County. I love Thai food and for the longest time they were the only game in town. Fortunately, we have other choices now.
