What a lovely little gem in downtown Westerly!! We popped in this afternoon for dinner and were not disappointed. There is a quaint dining room with lovely decor. The take-out business we saw was incredible with short wait times. We started our meal with the chicken dumplings; they were plump and delicious with a great dipping sauce that was not too spicy. We ordered cashew stir fry with beef and the wanton bacon pad thai. Both were incredible! The presentation is beautiful and the portions are generous. We will definitely be back to try other menu items; everything we saw coming out of the kitchen looked and smelled amazing!! read more

This is a really great, authentic, Thai restaurant tucked away across the railroad tracks in Westerly. Easy walking distance from the WEC, quick service, and they have a lunch menu that is a great value. It's a small place but comfortably decorated and welcoming. Thai spots are a dime a dozen these days and it's frequent that you'll fine a place that is just okay. Not the case at Thong Thai. Their Drunken Noodle is as good as I've had at a high end establishment. I travel to Westerly frequently and will look forward to coming back. read more

Quite possibly my favorite restaurant. This is a quaint little this place in downtown Westley. The food is gear and so is the service. I've been here countless times and have never had a bad experience, everything is delicious. I'm obsessed with the wildflowers. I also love their steamed dumplings. Their pad Thai is great and I'm also a huge fan of the cashew nut. Honestly everything in the menu is amazing. Order it all, you won't regret it. read more

Food: 3/5. Food was great. We ordered son tom, green curry and tomyum noodles. Service: 1/5. We waited 50' for our food to come. The waitress would come to tables to fill up drinks but skipped us. She would make no eye contact nor come over to check on us during those long 50'. We ordered the dumplings, basil rolls, Thai iced tea, (bommmmb) and fried rice--all made fresh to order and absolutely delicious. Dined here yesterday evening with my friend and really really enjoyed the food there! So much so that I'm craving it again now and already thinking about going back even though it's quite a drive from my house. I got the pad kee mow, the chive cakes, the Thai iced tea with almond milk and boba, and the green iced tea with almond milk and boba and everything was delicious and super flavorful! I love that they were able to make all my dishes vegan and that they had almond milk for my Thai iced tea! Often times, I can't get this drink at Thai restaurants because there is no option for non dairy milk. I've gotten pad kee mow at many Thai restaurants and this was hands down one of the best I've had! The flavor was just sooo good! The chive cakes was an appetizer we ordered. I had never heard of it before and wasn't sure what to expect we got it because it sounded interesting. So happy I found this place! Will drive over an hour to eat here again. The employees made us feel so welcomed and checked in on us several times. The ambiance was a zen vibe and nicely decorated. The food, so good! They have a regular menu with your classic dishes. We ordered the dumplings, coconut shrimp, and Tom yum soup. Very authentic and beautifully plated. Our eyes ate first and our stomachs were so happy with everything. They have a chef's menu and we ordered the wonton bacon pad Thai. Such a creative twist to a well loved dish. Stopped by for quick dinner in Westerly on our way home from Newport, and food at Thong Thai satisfied. Owner or the front lady was very welcoming and gave the impression of a family owned restaurant. My favorite was the Tom Yum soup. The Boat Noodle was alright, very sweet with hints of pho flavor. I've had something much better. Broth was piping hot, and noodle was over cooked. I didn't have the curry, but got a taste of it, and it was also very sweet. Thai tea was also very sweet. There seems to be a lot of take-out orders, so I'm sure locals love this place. Overall, I'd recommend if you crave some Asian food or if you're nearby. I'd give food here a 3.5. read more

I ordered Thankgiving dinner for 4 adults for my Thanksgiving Dinner with family this year. I brought my own pots and trays to put 2 entrees and a lot of appetisers on to serve from. The entire staff is first of all super delightful and empathetic . They all worked so hard to pull off a gorgeous kind of catered dinner. The arrangment with my pots and trays looks beautiful. I know from eating at Thongs since they first oppened their Thai never disappoints. This is a cute little restaurant across from the train station in downtown Westerly. We went early on a weekday around noon. The service couldn't have been more attentive and kind. We ordered the edamame to start which was fine. The basil stir fry with chicken was on a tiny plate-we were so surprised at how little there was. We've been to other Thai restaurants in the area that are more generous with their lunch portions and where the food was more tasty so while we have no major complaints, it didn't make it to our "must return" list. read more

Thong Thai... what a name! lol To be honest, it struck us all funny after having been drinking margaritas and wine prior to our visit. But anyhow, this was a cute little restaurant, the food was good, presentation was spot on and the service was great! We started with some apps... Steamed Chicken Dumplings and Coconut Shrimp. Both good! Little did we know our entree's came with a salad and two fried dumplings as well! For my meal I selected the Shrimp Pad Thai. It was good, but maybe just a little too sweet for me, as I found myself getting "sick of it" about half way through. We were enjoying our day in Westerly and wanted to try out somewhere that we hadn't been yet. Yelp helped lead us to Thong Thai. The interior is quite small, but there are a fair amount of tables squeezed in here. So getting here during a rush might mean you are getting takeout. Thankfully, a table had just opened up and we were able to enjoy our meal. We were dying to try the fresh basil roll, but they had just ran out. So we opted to start with the coconut shrimp and chicken dumplings. both were very good, as was a nice salad that came with our meals. For the main event my wife went with the pad Thai, which I thought was very tasty. Myself and our dinner companion went with the spicy crispy duck. I got mine extra spicy and loved every bite! The awesome Thai flavor that I was craving was totally there. My only gripe, and it is a minor one, is that some of my duck wasn't sliced through (stuck on fat strands) and it could have had a little more crisp to it. Still an excellent dish, which I will likely get again the next time we come back to Thong! read more

Have to give this Thai restaurant their due, they have one of the very best Tom Yum soups I've had anywhere. Equally as good was their Pad Kee Mau and Crazy Noodles dishes, the sauces in both were complex, spicy, distinctively different and extraordinarily tasty. These folks do it right! Lived in Westerly for many years but never tried Thong until 12/30/23...figured we'd beat the NYE rush and get some takeout. Great reviews so can't go wrong? Meh! Overpriced compared to other local options but that's fine if the food is great. But it wasn't. I got the drunken noodles and it was a pretty small portion. Flat, lifeless, brown gross noodles, a little bit of chicken, maybe 2 carrot shavings, and some basil. A few bites and I was good. Won't be eating the leftovers. My wife got one of their "specialities" Holy Basil Chicken. There was nothing basil about it, it was supposed to have green beans but there were none to be found. What it did have was TONS of salt. Basically it was a bowl of salty ground chicken with an overcooked fried egg on top. Only giving it 2 stars because their fresh basil rolls were decent, but not super flavorful (dipping sauce was good though). The calamari was ok, but I'm 99% certain it's a frozen restaurant depot item (again the dipping sauces were good). We also got a chicken fried rice kids meal for our daughter. She usually loves this from anywhere and if she doesn't finish it at dinner will finish it later that night. But she didn't. Small portions, too much salt, not worth the money. Great Thai restaurant. Having eaten here about 5-6 times, the food is always excellent. It can get very busy, with a constant stream of take-out orders and a full restaurant, the kitchen can get a bit slow at times, but it's worth the minor wait. Some of my favorites are Siam Wings, the Broad Bean Shake (not a drink) and the Massamun Curry. The Siam Wings are simply amazing. Crispy, tender inside, slightly spicy and slightly sweet, they are among the best wings I've had anywhere. The Broad Bean Shake is their offering of a Thai street-food snack. Crispy fried broad beans with a spicy seasoning that are 'shaken' all up in a cocktail shaker and then served to you. Addictive. The Massamun curry here is maybe my favorite I've had at any Thai restaurant. It's that damn good. Service is super nice, but can get a little slow if the place is packed. Beer and wine are offered, no full bar. Highly recommended. read more

Thong Thai noodle was pretty disappointing for $19, even though their site says 15.95. Supposed to come with bean sprouts, basil and scallion. I got 2 pieces of scallion, maybe a dozen bean sprouts and no basil. Flavor is good but their vegetable portion is not good.
