Okay. So I'm from Texas, living in PA right now. Went with my dad to this place, first time ever. We walk in, it is NOT busy. Maybe three tables occupied. There's a waitress at one table, facing us and taking an order as we walk in. We're standing up front for about three minutes, no one says a thing to us. The waitress turns around and walks away. At this point we just assume we seat ourselves and find a seat. About five minutes later a different waitress comes up to our table, no greeting, just "What do you want to drink?" We tell her, she comes back with our waters. A while later, she's taking our order, being very short and curt. We're now waiting for our food with empty glasses. Did not feel the need to wait to taste the food before giving this place one star. Customer service can make up for bad food, but rarely can good food make up for bad customer service. read more

Went back on a Sunday morning. They were rude and food was terrible. Normally I really like the place but the consistency is not good. Went back and got the chicken fried steak, eggs and potatoes. All of the food tasted bad. We walked in while it was slow and they took forever to get to us and just had a terrible attitude. Probably won't be going back. read more

What a delightful little place! Looks like a little cafe you'd see in a tiny town you're passing through but the food doesn't disappoint. They have a good mix of comfort foods, Tex-mex, and even burgers. I had the cheese enchiladas and they were delicious! They even give chips and salsa while you wait. Sorry but after our visit there tonight it will be the last time. We moved to Elgin about 5 months ago and have eaten there many times. At least once a week, so you think that they would try to make you happy. My son ordered a burger they brought it out with Mayo. He told them meat and cheese only. He sent it back they bring it back 20 mins later we were thru eating so you know it took awhile and they bring it out and had just scraped the Mayo off and the burger was cold. My son said look just charge me for the fries we will go somewhere else they told him he had to pay for his meal. He told the waitress twice he wanted it plain she messed up and they charged him. Seems like it's all about the money and not the customer. We spent at least $27 or more every time we went. We won't be going back. Be cautious if they mess up your food you still have to pay. Stopped on our way out of town, I had a custom homemade flat chicken fried steak and grilled biscuits. Loved everything.

I initially loved this place, food is great, 5 stars there. Customer service is terrible, beyond terrible even. Your wait time is as if the kitchen has a single burner camp stove in use, then after meal is served, you should take a bright neon flag to wave when your drink needs a refill, otherwise you turn into the Sahara Desert. Make sure you check the prices vs your ticket, otherwise, you'll pay more than expected. Food is great, but don't expect to add service to the meal. read more

Lucy's is one of the few American food establishments in this city and it is a reasonable price. The food is decent, but recently in a visit the customer service was less than desirable. A friend placed an order that was not what he had ordered, he politely advised the server of the mistake and the order was taken back and corrected. When we went to pay the bill the server stated that he had discussed the situation with the cook and they were charging for the incorrect order. When he asked to speak with a manager about paying for an order that says an obvious mistake they gave a phone number to call. The added amount was only $7.00, but it is the principle of paying for something that was not ordered. The funny thing is that my friend speaks highly of Lucy's and has recommended numerous people to eat there. This may seem petty, however my two cents is that this type of customer service or lack off is not worth my returning to Lucy's or making a recommendation for anyone to go to this establishment. Okay, so this has been a long time coming. But, just last night my husband & I visited Lucy's Kitchen and for the first time I ordered a mushroom - jack burger....oh my, oh my...so juicy and delicious. I can't wait to go back and order another. Usually I have the chicken fried steak with the works...but tried something different last night. I haven't been disappointed with any menu item I've order thus far. My only complaint is that very seldom do they have lemon pie. Which is my favorite...but I'll take a coconut cream pie instead. :) read more

Definitely will be back. Great food and prices. The portions are large. They have great desserts. Lots of homemade pies and cakes!

We have eaten here about 4 times, trying lunch specials and ordering off menu. Been very happy with the food all times.

Fried foods are downhome and portions are huge. Lunch specials priced great. Service can be horrendously slow. Overly casual but good for a cheap filling meal. Pies are some of the most beautiful creations I've seen. Stay away from the club sandwich it's filled with plastic cheese on soggy bread. Chips are store bought but this place has a real diner appeal. read more

My husband and I have eaten at Lucy's several times. Great home cooking. Our experiences the last two visits have been disappointing however. I am not sure if it is the cook or if the quality is just going down. We really have enjoyed this family friendly restuarant and hope they can bring the quality back up again. They should also consider a remodel, Paint peeling from areas on wall and it needs a new cooling system.
