If I could leave a zero star review I would. We had bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers, chicken tortilla soup, chicken enchilada and, carne asada. The poppers were very obviously reheated, the soup was basically chicken broth with rotisserie chicken and tomatoes. The chicken enchilada was covered in a green sauce when I specifically asked for queso. The carne asada was not too flavorful and having to eat it with a plastic fork seemed off. The service was okay at first, then when we just wanted our tab to leave she was too busy sitting down with the other servers talking. This place falls into the dive category but those are sometimes the best. Really friendly service...salsa had a good little kick, decent Queso and fresh chips.....As our routine goes we both went with enchiladas..beef for her chicken for me..red sauce had a good flavor along with my green sauce...beans we great and we both really like the rice. Food was outstanding, and service was friendly and prompt. I got the Molcajete with chicken and beef. It was very good. It had cactus in it as well which is hard to find. My husband got the beef enchiladas. Also the sliced avocado that came with our meal was super fresh and perfectly ripened the corn tortillas were home made and they were out of this world. Stopped by to have lunch and was surprisingly very good. My husband and I shared the molcajete and nachos. Both meals had great taste. He got a lemonade to drink, which wasn't too sweet or bitter. Came here with my abuela for a late weekday lunch. She had the carne guisada lunch special and I had the cheese enchiladas. HUGE portions and for 8.99 frankly it's a steal! We also had the guacamole which could easily be shared among 4-6 people. Food was delicious and service was great (it's worth noting though that it wasn't very busy - not sure how service would be during a weekend rush). Will be back for sure! read more

This is my families new go to spot in Elgin. We always start with Nachos and the vegitable queso flamiada. My family almost licks the platter clean on the Flamiada. Our 10 year old hits it running with 2 hands. The Mocajete was another head turner, Every thing in it was so fresh and delicious. I just wish they served their salsa in a big gulp cup, not that they scrimp but I could swim in it and still want more. The service is ALWAYS friendly. Our drinks stay filled and we never leave with out full bellies and extra food we simply failed to finish till it was time to fight over who got what , when we got home. OH YEAH! Have yet to make it but signage tells me they now have a week day half price happy hour for Margarittas!!! If my family makes it home before 6 I will see you there! read more

Loved the food and the service was even better. The young man, who I assume is the son of the owners, was such a sweetheart to our kids and was highly attentive to our table. We've tried a few thing and i can say 100% of the food has been delicious like the tacos, quesadillas, mini tacos, pork chop platter, bistec a la mexicana and the parrillada Chilanga is absolutely amazing. The restaurant has great food and have recently opened up a drive through. As a family who loves breakfast tacos, we feel that theirs are some of the best we've had. They're 2/$1.99, which is unheard of. We like to pick up breakfast tacos at least once a week. read more

My mom and I like to try different Mexican restaurants. So we came here to La Parrillada This place was nice and spacious , waitress was nice , but I going to go a little off here . I noticed a lot of Mexican restaurants don't have favored Creamer. Wonder why that is ? Maybe it's too Texmex. So we got the food I order Pancake , scramble eggs , bacon , and a side of refried beans with flour tortillas. My mom ordered eggs over medium eggs refried beans , potatoes with bacon . Sorry no pictures was not happy with the food. The eggs were not what I would call scramble the beans were can beans and that's so sad to me . Mexican restaurants should ALWAYS have FRESH BEANS ! The chips and salsa were not good , but they were FREE and I love FREE . The tea was good. Had to get tea because if you didn't catch it from the creamer remark about them not have flavor Creamer. The tortillas where packaged ones too. This is a no return place. I think it should have 2 1/2 stars. read more
