It is a bit of a drive for me since it's in Elgin but very well worth it. They have a good variety of meats but my favorite is of course their buche. I initially came here for tacos but after having trying their buche quesadilla (sooo incredibly yummy!!!), I started getting that instead. For quesadillas you get an option of the size. I usually go with the large which they prepare with an 8" tortilla I believe. It usually fills me up. Outside of how delicious the food is, I love how they give you a side of grilled onions as part of the meal. I would put those into either the tacos or quesadilla for that extra flavor. Also, they provide 3 different sauces. This creamy green salsa sauce they have is soooo good. The food typically comes out fairly quick as well so that's also another plus.

5 Stars -- Worth the Stop!…read more Total hidden gem in Elgin! The Taco Stop may look like a little ramshackle joint from the outside, but don't let that fool you. The line was out the door when we arrived, and they burned through it fast -- thanks to a small but mighty team of four working hard in the back, cranking out fresh homemade tortillas like pros. I had the large bacon, egg, and cheese taco -- the bacon was perfectly crisp, not greasy, and full of flavor. Their spicy tomatillo salsa was a standout -- bright, bold, and just the right kick. My husband got the fajita beef taco and was seriously impressed with the flavor and portion size. Quick service, real ingredients, and food that hits the spot. Definitely stopping here again next time we're passing through!

We were definitely getting hangry on our return trip, and Yelp thankfully directed us here. Since it was late at night, they were not busy. They do have daily specials, but we went our ole faithful, enchiladas. We did start with chips and salsa. These chips are solid and allow you to scoop up their slightly spicy and rich salsa. I ordered their Tex-Mex enchiladas. These are 3 large enchiladas. I ordered one of each chicken, beef, and cheese. They arrived stuffed to the gills and covered with awesome queso. The dish comes with a generous portion of beans and Mexican rice. Taqueria Guadalajara is the real deal, and we will definitely be returning on our next road trip. I left just like my enchiladas pleasantly "stuffed to the gills"! As others have mentioned, the building has seen better days, but the food and service are superb! ,

The soft strains of mariachi music in the background create a warm and lively atmosphere that makes you feel like you've stepped into a fiesta. The service here is attentive and friendly. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and always ready to provide recommendations or explain unfamiliar dishes. They also don't rush you, allowing you to savor your meal at a leisurely pace. We started our culinary adventure with the Guacamole Trio. The classic guacamole, mango-pineapple guacamole, and spicy roasted corn guacamole were all bursting with fresh flavors. The trio provided a delightful balance of creamy, sweet, and spicy, served with warm tortilla chips. For our main course, we opted for the Carnitas Tacos and the Mole Poblano Enchiladas. The Carnitas Tacos were a revelation, featuring succulent, slow-cooked pork that practically melted in your mouth. The accompanying salsa verde added a tangy kick that elevated the dish. The Mole Poblano Enchiladas were equally impressive. The mole sauce was rich and complex, with layers of chocolatey sweetness and subtle heat. The enchiladas themselves were generously filled with tender chicken and topped with a dollop of crema, creating a harmonious flavor combination. We couldn't leave without trying the Churros with Chocolate Dipping Sauce. The churros were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the velvety chocolate sauce was the ideal accompaniment. It was a sweet ending to our meal. El Carnitas offers a wide range of Mexican beverages, including margaritas, tequila shots, and an impressive selection of Mexican sodas. We enjoyed a refreshing hibiscus agua fresca that paired wonderfully with our meal. Overall, El Carnitas offers a memorable dining experience with its inviting ambiance, attentive service, and a menu that showcases the vibrant and diverse flavors of Mexico. The only reason for not awarding a full five-star rating is that, at times, the wait for a table can be longer during peak hours. However, the food and experience are worth the wait. If you're a fan of authentic Mexican cuisine with a modern twist, El Carnitas should be at the top of your list.

I hired them for my daughter's quinceañera and paid the deposit four months in advance…read more Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. They were aware well in advance of the scheduled serving time, but they arrived late and were not ready to serve when needed. This caused a significant delay in our itinerary and affected the flow of an event that had been carefully planned for months. What was especially frustrating was that at the end of the evening, her husband complained that this was not the type of service they normally provide for a quinceañera. Since they knew from the beginning that they were being hired specifically for a quinceañera, I felt those concerns should have been addressed beforehand rather than after the event. On a positive note, we did not receive any complaints about the food, and there was plenty for our guests. I did pay the full amount we agreed upon despite the issues. However, I was disappointed with how everything was handled. During an event as important as a quinceañera, the family is surrounded by guests and focused on making the day special, so there really isn't an appropriate opportunity to stop everything and address problems with a vendor as they are happening. For that reason, I believe vendors hired for special events have an added responsibility to arrive on time, be prepared, and honor what was agreed upon. Families put a great deal of time, money, and trust into these celebrations, and that should be respected. Unfortunately, based on my experience with the late arrival, the delay it caused, and how the situation was handled afterward, I would most likely not hire them again or recommend them for an event where timing and staying on schedule are important.
