Lucy's has the best biscuits and gravy I've had in Grand Rapids--and honestly, the best I've had in a while. It's rich, comforting, and packed with flavor without feeling too heavy. We also got a cinnamon roll to split at the end, and it completely lived up to the hype. It's incredibly flavorful and buttery. It's not overly cinnamon-forward like some can be, which I actually loved--it makes it feel more balanced and unique. Easily one of my favorite pastries around town. We added ourselves to the Yelp waitlist ahead of time, which definitely helped, but it's still worth noting that Sundays for brunch are insanely busy. Tried brunch here and ordered the steak and eggs with potatoes. Overall it was just an okay experience. The potatoes weren't cooked all the way through and the steak was a bit chewy, so the dish didn't quite hit the mark for me. One thing I did really enjoy was the pineapple juice it tasted super fresh and was honestly the highlight of the meal. My partner tried their spicy hash and their Vietnamese coffee and enjoyed both. It was pretty busy, so I'd definitely recommend reserving in advance or joining the waitlist ahead of time if you can. Wow! If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Our waitress was the kindest person ever. We went for breakfast and started with a Bloody Mary. We ordered the jalapeno corn bread with honey butter. The bread was so moist and when you add the honey butter, it was a match made in Heaven. Since I don't ever make eggs Benedict, I always order this when dining out. It was amazing! The restaurant is very nice and cozy. Big place with plenty of seating. If you go, you can check online to see if there is a wait list. They also serve lunch! Just go. You won't be disappointed. Food was great today! Ambience was very stressful. We sat at the bar which was available when we came in. But toward the end of our meal, we had people standing next to us waiting for someone on the counter to finish so they could sit. Another couple shared out loud how uncomfortable it was and how the staff was ok with putting that kind of pressure on the customers. One couple left and three ladies came to sit down, two sat down and one stood up as if she was waiting for us to finish. This can mean long wait times, but they currently use the Yelp waitlist feature so you can add your name to the queue before you arrive. I've visited Lucy's many times over the years and have always enjoyed my experiences there. My most recent visit was on New Year's Eve morning and it was pretty busy, but my friend and I got seated right away and didn't have to use the waitlist. I ordered the Creston scramble (corned beef hash, Lucy's potatoes, white cheddar, pepper, onion, bechamel, and scrambled eggs served with toast) with a side salad, and my friend got the BYOB breakfast. Our food was served in a timely fashion and everything was hot and fresh. I loved the fresh salad and the simple vinaigrette. The Creston scramble was a big portion and tasty as leftovers the next day. My friend's BYOB breakfast looked so good - very simple but everything was cooked perfectly. Our server did mix up our checks a bit, but it wasn't really a big deal. Lucy's will stay a go-to spot for me, although I do wish they mixed up the menu a little for more variety. Lucy's is a neighborhood favorite for us! I usually go for the breakfast sandwich because the dill biscuit is amazing, but I opted for their weekly feature, the southern cluckin' omelette. The prices are higher than an average diner but you're paying for higher quality and a nicer atmosphere. The parking was easy with 2 lots and free street parking. Joined the list online via Yelp and showed up at the restaurant to physically check in about 15 mins before the earlier time in the projected range of when my party would be sat. Waited for about an additional 10 mins and was promptly greeted and sat after the confirmation text that our table was ready. Our server was efficient and warm, and was able to take our complete order when coming to the table. The food came out quickly and was excellent, but real truth, the bacon roll is TOO GOOD. Went to Lucy's on a Saturday morning for the first time. I had heard it's a very good spot from a few friends and decided to give it a try as it's so close to me. Really liked the look of the place, very inviting, the wait was long but I anticipated it and joined the waitlist early, cutting our wait drastically which was great. As we are being seated my one and only problem with my experience begins. The woman's restroom is about 20 feet from where we are sitting and the door SLAMS. As this place is busy you can imagine this door is opened and closed about once a minute. In the middle of a joke? *SLAM*Having a delicate conversation? *SLAM* I would have loved to have focused more on the aesthetic of the restaurant or the swiftness of the service but I just could NOT ignore that door. My girlfriend told me inside the bathroom was even worse to the point where she would cover her ears. I enjoyed the andouille sausage and grits. I heard that Lucy's had gotten on some list of best breakfast spots in the country and I was pretty skeptical. But man, they really know what they are doing. My chicken salad with cherries was outrageously delicious. Like, it had no business being that good. The peach cobbler bread pudding tasted like the best peach pie I have ever had. This has easily risen to top breakfast/brunch spot in GR on my list. Parking might be a bit of a hassle when it's a busy time, although lots of available seating inside and a gorgeous shaded patio.
