Ordered to go after a weekday bouldering night and wow it was very delicious! We got the Mac and cheese, fries with aioli on the side, house salad, signature chicken-double and signature with bacon jam- double. Needless to say we over ordered lol. Service was amazing and they were very kind and accommodating! :) As far as the chicken sandwich- I think the signature one is my fav - very crispy, tender and served on a nice brioche bun with slaw and pickle goodness. The bacon jam one was too heavy esp with bacon AND fried chicken. (Felt too guilty for my arteries) Pro tip: HIGHLY recommend getting their extra hot sauce for more flavor. They said it was extra spicy but it's actually not too bad when u mix it with the chicken and bun. The Mac and cheese was great and very cheesy. Adding the extra hot sauce to it was pretty good too. The fries was ok - a bit soggy and soft so not my fav as far as thin fries go. The house salad was delicious and highly recommended to pair given the heaviness of the fried chicken! We ate so fast that we forgot to take photos but will add next time! read more

I love this place ! They have Indoor and outdoor open! There might be a wait but it's worth it! Keep in mind they have grub hub, uber eats and etc orders so it gets busy. Usually we order through apps but eating inside was worth it! Fresh Food!!!! So so so good! Perfect date night! =) My Bf loves their milkshakes!!! I ordered the chicken with two sides & their lemonade and we shared cheese fries! read more

Haven't been to Lucy's since the pandemic began. Decided to go a week or so ago. Food was delicious as usual, but the young lady working cashier was extremely rude. Someone should be continually teaching customer service to the staff because she needs it. read more

Never been one to find chicken sandwiches all that riveting. The spicy chicken sandwich from Lucy's is the exception. Became intrigued when seeing pics of said sandwich, which was basically XXX food porn. Mia Khalifa ain't got nothin' on these (chicken) breasts. Turns out they use thigh meat, but I wasn't about to omit that line. Anyways. Made it a point to try one of their burgers before reviewing, just to see how versatile they are. So, we came back to try the Juicy Lucy. It was quite good, not on the same level as their chicken. I noticed they hung up newspapers clippings on their wall of lists they've made for 'Top French fries in Chicago'. I dunno about all of that, but they are pretty good. Although last time when we ordered cheese fries, they were extremely salty. Still, they were so tasty, & I finished them and I'm pretty sure I need new kidneys. Now accepting donations. Really good chicken, decent burger, tasty apps, rich delicious milk shakes to wash it all down, and pretty affordable. Not much to complain about here. read more

Best place to experience American style for breakfast. Burgers and fries are served freshly made and fast service.

Great fast friendly service and always a delight to visit this local fried chicken restaurant. I consider this place a gem and would recommend it Food - I usually get the classic Lucy's Fried Chicken sandwich. It's huge with the right balance of slaw and cheese. I also enjoy the jalepeno cheese fries. Always hits the craving Value - Just a little over budget friendly but still reasonable Decor - Comfortable indoor, outdoor, and back patio vibes provide a variety of seating options with decorations that make it feel like a proper fried chicken joint Service - The service has always been very friendly. I have yet to have a bad experience Worthy of revisit - Yes. Most def... I have been going here for years and still would recommend it. Any one who tries to compare this sandwich to chick fil a or any other fast food place has no idea what they are talking about. read more

I am from out of town and I visitied this place over the weekend with a friend. First, this place claims to be the best chicken sandwhich in Chicago. That is a lie. The sandwhich was disgustingly bland, they do not have salt and pepper on the table to add any flavor to this bland tasting food. The food is extremly over priced. This is a common tactic for restaurants who believe the hype from the people in its neighborhood. One chicken sandwhich alone, no fies and no drink cost over $12. My friend had the Buffalo Blue chicken sandwhich. Unless you like a soggy sandwhich, stay away from this one. They put so much sauce on in that it makes the bread nasty and soggy. Just two chicken sandwhiches and two orders of fries totaled over $40! Yes, you heard me. No drinks included. I ate only 1/3 of my sandwhich. If I pay a lot for food I am going to do my best to eat it. That should tell you how bad the food was. I would simply describe it as expensive trash. My friend told me when you come to Chicago expect to pay "Chicago prices". That is such a B.S. response. I did complained to the establishment about the outrageous prices. They need to know when their food is good and when their food is bad. They also need to know when their food prices are fair and when their prices are extremly high. People of Chicago should never be comfortable with being taken advantage of just because you live in Chicago. read more

We chose Lucy's food truck at a street fest and I thought it was just okay. We had the juicy lucy, signature spicy fried chicken and cheese fries. It was quite a mess to eat, as you can see by the pictures. I didn't think the juicy lucy was anything special and the fried chicken was not crispy. Maybe our food was just prepared poorly that day. The smashed presentation and greasiness didn't help, either. read more

Hubby and I ordered our food to go during COVID times and it was ready to be picked up within ~20 minutes. I had the signature spicy fried chicken sandwich (coleslaw, pickles, and American cheese) while hubby had the bacon jam spicy fried chicken sandwich (bacon jam, garlic aioli and American cheese). We both opted to upgrade our chicken sandwiches to an extra chicken patty for only 95 cents. As some of the reviews mentioned, the chicken sandwich with a single patty is pretty small but it is hefty with two patties. The chicken by itself is a little dry and the coleslaw on the signature spicy fried chicken sandwich is lacking in flavor. Hubby liked his bacon jam fried chicken sandwich. He normally can't eat spicy things but this wasn't too spicy for him. The bacon jam added more flavor to the chicken sandwich and masked the dryness of the chicken. We also shared a side of cheese fries and porky fries (smoked pork shoulder, bacon, BBQ, queso cotija, and pickled jalapenos). The fries were soggy by the time we got home but I"m sure they would have been much better fresh. There was plenty of cheese that came with the cheese fries (two heaping small containers). The porky fries were pretty good but were basically pulled pork on top of a bed of fries. read more

Lucy's has one of the best chicken sandwiches I've had. We went with the original double meat... WOW! First, it's humongous... chicken is literally extending 3-4 inches beyond the bun in every direction. As far as the taste.. it's incredible. Crispy exterior yet juicy and tender chicken.. brioche bun that someone is able to support all the chicken.. slaw, pickles.. it's a magnificent work of art really. Can't wait for my next! read more

Lucy's - Original Chicken Sandwich - American Near Me - Chicago, Illinois

As seen on Chicago's Best, this establishment is located in Humboldt Park. I definitely recommend the spicy chicken sandwich, although the "spicy chicken" sandwich isn't spicy. I have attached a photo of the chicken sandwich, it is enormous, the only downside about the sandwich is, it comes with bootleg "American cheese" with no other replacement options. I highly recommend getting a side of fries and testing out the Mayo Garlic condiment. Cute little establishment. read more

Lucys is a small spot right down California. Theres not alot on the menu but there doesn't need to be. Its got this old school burger joint vibe to it. Theres pretty much 3 things there, Chicken/BBQ Sandwich or Burger, can't go wrong with either but no doubt the Spicy Chicken Sandwich is by far the best thing on their menu. Its 2 big pieces of chicken, with a decent kick of spice. It will be one of the better spicy chicken sandwiches in the city!! ***They often have deals on grubhub like $5-7 off, order takeout off the app and come pick it up.. read more

Ordered 2 burgers and 2 fries with 4 garlic aioli's each through doordash tonight and overall just not happy. They only sent 4 of the 8 aioli's we paid for and we specifically asked for the burgers to be cooked well done in the instructions and they weren't. They're almost inedible to us and extremely pink in the middle so we had to deconstruct the burgers ourselves and pop them in the air fryer to finish cooking. As it was a doordash order and they were closing in 30 mins, there was no way to fix the issue other than for us to come pick up our correctly made order but that defeats the purpose of delivery, delivery fees and tip we had already paid doordash for.. right? Mistakes happen and the woman on the phone was genuinely sympathetic but I can't shake pink meat so we will have to pass on this location in the future. read more

Admittedly, my favorite fried chicken sammie in Chicago is The Roost, so I'm always grading against their chow. That said, I had the fried chicken and the Lucy's burger for my first visit two weeks ago, along with a side of fries...damn, this was solid eats. While the chicken wasn't as tender as the Roost's sandwiches, I still liked what Lucy's had to offer, and the buns on both of our sandwiches were excellent. Hand-cut fries are the only way to go and Lucy's fried these to perfection for my take-out visit. There's a patio out front and a lot of space to dine in...and even better, kids eat for free on Tuesdays, so I'll be back to check this out with my whole family next time. Prices are very fair for the amount of food you get also. My only major gripe right now is that Lucy's doesn't really have a website with a menu...they have Grubhub, and I don't ever use that. Fix this please! read more

Quick drive from the UC after a basketball game and am so glad we did. Just a few tables but a great vibe and great service. COVID- Have an outdoor seating space, ~ 5 tables. However, you can sit inside. I just walked in and it's pretty casual so I'm assuming reservations are not required. The staff was very friendly, wears a mask and there's sanitizer on the shelf. Food- I ordered the signature chicken sandwich and tried the bacon jam fried chicken sandwich. OK, it was huge! (that's what she said...sorry I had to). No honestly, it was hard for me to take an initial bite. Nonetheless, it was delicious and I was left pretty satisfied (that's what she also said...sorry I had to, again). Also, I'm not a huge bacon person but the bacon jam version was so so good! smoky, sweet..yum. Overall, fulfills your fried chicken cravings and for ~ $10 sandwich, it's a bang for your buck P.S. - I've heard a lot of good things about their fries too and I def would return to try more from the menu! read more

I'm a stickler for a good burger. I associate it with nostalgia and it's very hard for me to rate food over my past frequent favorites. Lucy's somehow topped them all with remarkable food. The juicy Lucy is a joy for every bite and the Bacon Jam Fried Chicken Sandwich is holy moly good. I'm not sure how they've managed to get both so delicious but I'm thankful they did. If you get the chicken sandwich it's really affordable to add another piece of chicken to it but it may not be necessary to fill you up. Lucy's is easily the best fast burger/chicken place I've had. read more

I came by for lunch and really enjoyed the Spicy Chicken Sandwich. Good bread, coleslaw, and the chicken was fried well and not that spicy at all, so I'd probably get the super hot next time. It came with a lot of chicken, enough that one fell out and it was still enough chicken that I ate it as a chicken strip by itself later. My main issue was that today, although everything was great, there were a few things that were heavy handed with salt - the cheese sauce in the Cheese Fries, and the Garlic Aioli. The fries were fried well, loved the depth of flavor of both the cheese and garlic aioli but they were so salty that I had to drink a lot of water in between bites. I had to stop myself from having any more because my throat started getting that tingle from too much salt. I'm hoping it was just today's batches but solid chicken sandwich regardless. read more

So I recently had tried their signature spicy chicken sandwich and I normally don't do anything spicy but this was ... DELISH I made mine a double (it was a long day and I was just craving a chicken sandwich) and when I opened the bag and unveiled it -- yeah that was a big sandwich haha BUT what I can say is, - Really crispy and juicy throughout - Spicy but not pass me the ketchup this water is not doing it spicy - Held up well, sandwich was not super soggy or falling apart Also, mix their dill pickle ranch with their buttermilk ranch (it's freaking good I swear) as that for me made the sandwich soooo yummier. Not that it already wasn't but just goes really well. Overall 10/10 would get again read more

If you like heat in your burgers or fried chicken sandwiches this is the place. I'd recommend trying a tiny bit of their hot sauce before going to town with it. Love the decor of the place with the retro albums and photos on the wall. If you have the space try their mac'n cheese with your sandwich. The chicken sandwich I ordered was thick, crispy, and juicy. It is more on the pricier side but it's not gonna break the bank. They have different kinds of fries for you to enjoy. Can't go wrong with the classic cheese fries. It's good for dining in groups and alone. Definitely a nice gem in the neighborhood. If you're in the area be sure to stop by. It may be a lot of food for some so don't be afraid to get that wrapped up to go. The staff is also friendly and helpful. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you're new there. read more

Wish I could leave a no star review. Customer service is horrible. Never been to this location and wasn't even greeted... came with my wife & kids and sat down so we can get out of the way. Waited 10mins to be told that we were suppose to order at register, like I was suppose to know... maybe if they paid attention and weren't on their phone we could have been properly greeted and instructed that we must place order at register before seating... I'll never come here again. Staff are young and disrespectful... also the location is super small and gloomy, the ambiance felt dull... read more

The chicken sandwich is so good! I literally couldn't bite into it because it was so big. I ended up just eating the chicken and the toppings without the buns The fries are also absolutely amazing! I tried finishing both the chicken sandwich and the fries myself and just couldn't do it. read more

On Sept. 1, 2017, I had an unfortunate issue come up with Lucy's. I found a rusty bolt in my garlic fries. I emailed the company, and it took a full week for them to do anything about it. Actually, it took me posting on their Facebook to get attention. To their credit, they refunded me the $4, but they also claimed they found no issues with their fryers. So it's a mystery how the hardware landed in my food. Needless to say, I've lost my appetite for their product. This experience aside, their food is just ok. The fries are super greasy (and often come out in a big stuck-together ball), the veggie burger is mediocre. I typically see them in Hyde Park, and there are many superior food trucks in the same space. Pass on Lucy's and check out any of the others instead. read more

Impromptu brunch date with friends brought us to Lucy's. They had a couple seats outside, but were also very spread out inside. Let's ay we choose for seats outside or else we were going to head to the park. By the time all of us ordered and got our food, spots at a table opened up. The staff was nice, she took our order at the counter and came out and cleaned the table before we sat. The service was fairly quick. It's a cute little spot. The food: Signature Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich - It was a fine sandwich. Huge. I think there was 2 big pieces of chicken thigh in there (aka also means it's super moist and full of flavor). However, my issue was that it was not spicy...you can get sauce on the side, which I did and that added a bit of spicy to it, but I was expected more of a kick. There was no way to "flatten the sandwich" to fit in my mouth so I kind of just dealt with it...not a horrible thing, but because it was 2 pieces of chicken, I couldn't easily eat it. It either had to stay wrapped or be cut in half. The cheese I don't think was completely necessary, but the cole slaw wasn't bad. I may come back to try it again... Cheese Fries with Jalapeno (cheese on the side) - This was the tops, great greasy (in a good way) fries topped with jalapenos (optional) and cheese sauce. I choose to get it on the side so I can dip and the cheese isn't smother my fries. This was a great choice and delicious. TLDR: worth checking out to make your own assessment. I'm curious to try their burger. They do also have a beyond burger for the vegetarians. read more

It's a very small place but comfortable. We ordered their golden fries, Mac & Cheese, signature spicy fried chicken & the juicy Lucy burger. Hands down the chicken sandwich was our favorite! It was very crispy and most of all a generous portion! I did wish it had a little more of a spice (because I love spicy) but nonetheless highly recommend. Especially when adding Lucy's Secret sauce. The burger was good too, the patty had cheese inside so when taking a bite it shoots all out which is what gave it its flavor I think. I do wish the portion was just a tiny bit bigger. Big fan of their fries, they were super fresh and has a crisp to them plus they have garlic sauce making them tastier. Definitely planning to come back! read more

My husband and I came here for lunch and we got it to go. We both ordered the signature chicken sandwiches, fries, shakes. The results break down as follows: Food: The signature spicy chicken sandwich comes with 2 pieces of chicken (1 breast, 1 thigh...which was strange for me personally), cheese, Cole slaw and pickles. The chicken itself was not that spicy at all...It's the kind of spice that doesn't feel like anything at first but after a few bites has a small radiant kick left in your mouth. It's not that flavorful to me. It wasn't completely bland just not anything special. The cheese didn't do anything for the sandwich. The cole slaw was bland and the pickles were thick. The fries were just a little too salty but the dill pickle ranch was delicious. I had a Vanilla malted shake and that too was delicious. Overall, the food needed a little work. Price: my husband and I ordered 2 signature spicy chicken sandwiches, 2 fries and 2 shakes (strawberry and malted vanilla) as well as 2 dipping sauces. The total comes to about $40 and to me that's a little pricey for so-so food. I do intend to try their burgers so I may update this review later. read more

I was so excited to see that the food truck was now an actual restaurant! The bf and I usually have Lucy's as a go-to for lunch, so ofc we had to come check it out! The food was amazing, as always. They gave out free sliders since it was there grand opening - they were basically mini versions of their chicken sandwich! Definitely recommend the spicy fried chicken sandwich, since it's always a super filling meal and seasoned perfectly. Be prepared for a massive sandwich. I also recommend the fries with garlic or chipotle aioli! The burgers are solid, but probably not my favorite item on the menu. Unlike the food truck, the restaurant has more options. We ordered a chocolate shake, which was really good! We tried the fire fries, and they were good but I'd say a bit too spicy for our taste! But we did order it knowing the menu said super hot. I'd say get it if you can handle a lot of heat. The burger met expectations, as usual. Service overall was great and food was out super quick. You can tell the owner really made the restaurant his own version of the food truck. Awesome job with the restaurant, Lucy's read more

I got a takeaway order tonight and was really excited to try it. After a couple of bites, it was just really dry and not too flavorful. The dipping sauce (honey mustard) was bland. the fresh fries and milkshakes are great. love stopping by for a snack when i'm in the mood for something like that. the chicken can be a hit or miss however. on some days, the piece of fried chicken is really great! but on others, many parts of the chicken are chewy, rubbery, and i literally spit it out and put it to the side. i understand that chicken can have different textures, but there should be some better quality control on the parts of chicken being served. despite getting a couple of orders of chewy chicken, i still come back though, because the flavor is great, service is fast, and it's so close by. i will say though, i would love to see lucy's offer a mills fried chicken, since they only offer spicy fried chicken. i enjoy spicy foods, but at times i have to take a break from eating my chicken! read more
