I've never had a burger from Lucy's I didn't love! Definitely in my top 5 burgers in Chicago. The fries, Mac and cheese, milkshakes, and garlic aioli are definitely stand outs as well. We recently tried their newer smash burgers and they were a HIT!!! You order your food at the front counter and wait for your food at the various seating options. The music has always been fun and the energy makes it a great spot to go with a group. I've even brought my restaurant dinner club here before as my month's location choice. Will be coming back soon!!!
When I walked in the floor looked dirty. This is fast food joint. The service is thorough and fast however they were out of chicken coop cocktails I ordered the fried chicken pieces and fries. The chicken for me was over cooked and not tender. The service was fast. I don't know if I'd return.
Absolutely loved the bacon jam chicken sandwich! The chicken has a little spicy kick, but the sweetness of the bacon jam balances it out perfectly. Such a great combo of flavors and definitely a highlight of the meal. We also tried the pulled pork fries. The flavor was good, but they were a bit too soggy for my taste. Might be better if you eat them right away! The strawberry milkshake was delicious--creamy, sweet, and just the right amount of strawberry flavor. I would come back just for that. The mac & cheese was decent. Warm, cheesy, and comforting, but nothing super special. Overall, a fun and tasty spot with a few standouts. I'd definitely come back for that chicken sandwich and milkshake!
Would've been 4-5 stars if the fries weren't so good awful. Chicken is amazing. Burgers amazing. Arrived a bit smushed but otherwise good. Sauce was ok. Shake is great. The fries were soggy, gross. Not crispy at all. Cold. Horrible potato piece included. I threw them out and got a refund.
Great, well executed fried chicken sandwich, with spacious, comfortable seating and clean bathrooms. No hint of dryness in any bite. The bun really stood out, it had a mellow sweetness that made the chicken sandwich all the better. It was like a premium King Hawaiian bun.
Food was great until I go to the last bit of my bacon jam chicken sandwich I felt something stab the roof of my mouth and gums and spit the bite out thinking it was a chicken bone... maybe??? But was indeed a little piece of metal!! Moved into the neighborhood recently and was excited to try Lucy's out but it'll be a first and last for me!
Everything about Lucy's is amazing! The food, the staff, the drink, the decor! Can't wait to go back, especially since it's walking distance from my oldest kids apartment!
Lucy's is a countertop order kinda restaurant, but they also have a few beer lines. The interior is kinda funky and minimalist, but never seems crowded as they do a heavy amount of delivery & carry out. Staff was friendly but wow, the highlight was the chicken sandwich. Fries were o-k, I like them a bit crisper but that's a personal preference. Burgers looked excellent as well, will have to come back to try one!
I arrived here with my son and sister around 5:13pm on a Friday evening to grab some food before heading to an event that nearby. The order was placed at 5:15pm. I got a double bacon jam burger and I got my son a plain burger. I got us a side of fries to share with a classic lemonade. They do not have combos and do not have fountain drinks. (After visits to a few burger places, I see it's common to not have combos and that the entree and side must be ordered separately; I don't know why that is considering most people do get a side). The burger was delicious! The fries were mediocre. They were unevenly cooked. I would've liked more seasoning on them as well. I will say that it was a large portion ams sharable. I've never had the brand of lemonade before but I enjoyed it. They have a section where you can get your own ketchup in a cup. They have free water as well in an antique "gasoline" container. This was neat. The atmosphere and decor was very cute. They had booths, tables by the window, and a large, high top table, which we sat at. It wasn't busy as there was only 1 other party there, eating. A couple more parties arrived while we were eating and/or as we left. Staff was friendly and I would return, if I'm in the area again.
Great ambiance. Great music. Unique seating area inside. Nice ample space. Service is quick. Hot great food prepared quick after ordering. I tried the Bacon Jam Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Fried Pickles. The sandwich chicken piece is huge. Pouring out both sides of the hamburger bun. Bacon jam is great and the Lucy's secret sauce tasty. The fried pickles were great with the Lucy's secret sauce. Plus the garlic aioli and ketchup self serve were great. Free cup of water too which is awesome.
Lucy, Lucy, Lucy, how could you do this to me?! I've passed by on the L many times, and even walked past a handful. Today, with an empty fridge, I stopped in. I was immediately drawn to the Signature Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich and the Golden Fries. Signed, sealed, delivered! I ordered them (plus a Cheerwine cherry cola.) Regrettably, I was left disappointed at the quality, namely the freshness, of the food. I was going to leave a 3-star, but when I think about it, I don't really have any desire to return. While I'm not necessarily against trying one of the smash-burgers, the chicken was underwhelming enough that hopes aren't very high. Besides, I can't write a review based on what I *didn't* have, only what I did have. So, let's talk about it. The chicken had some crispness due to a robust crust, but at the same time felt like it was from under a lamp. While I would not call it dry, per se, it wasn't what I would call hot, juice, and tender either. I wouldn't even say it was moist. Though, I would not quite go as far as to say it was dry, as the Coleslaw and pickles helped a litte. What I can say is it felt notably bland. What was supposed to be a spicy piece of chicken seemed to lack both heat and seasoning. They do have hot sauce available, but this should be an option, and not a necessity. Last thing is re. the cheese: who made the decision to use a Kraft Single? For what is supposed to be fried chicken excellence, something which legally has to be called "cheese product" seems like a bad move. Five Guys can pull it off, but some long-time fans lament the melty, gooey, and wonderful cheese they used to have. Then there were the fries. With these, I appreciate that they were seasoned appropriately, and that they were clearly hand-cut, and not from a frozen bag. I am also very fond of the vampire slaying garlic aioli which one can help themselves to. Where it comes to the huge portion, I am of two opinions: if you are coming with a friend or have a massive appetite, then fair enough. However, as one person with an average appetite who had plans after, I had to carry the doggy bag with me. It wasn't a barbell, but it still feel like that large a portion is unnecessary. Now, where my complaint lies is similar to the sandwich: the fries tasted like they had spent some quality time under a lamp. Finally, I appreciate that Lucy's had fast service, however, it seems this speed comes at the cost of quality. Fast food places can crank out chicken sandwiches like nobody's business, yet with them there is an expectation that chicken won't be cooked to order. With a cool and hip place like Lucy's, especially given the award(s) they've won, this strategy seems inappropriate. I'd also like to call out Dave's Hot Chicken - in my experience while the chicken may not be cooked fresh for each customer, it has always been hot, well seasoned, and moist. Thus, this is something that can be achieved. In a case where I feel as though I've had better chicken sandwiches from Dave's, Hot Chi, and even Popeye's, Lucy's missed the mark. Looking at the photos from other Yelpers, it is tempting to give them another shot, and it is not impossible. However, I would sooner go to either a tried and tested favorite, or someplace new rather than some here and risk disappointment once again.
I went to Lucy's for lunch. It has a retro feel to it with seating for a small diner feel. We were greated right away from a friendly young lady at the counter. We asked a couple of questions between the burger and chicken sandwich options and made our selection. We choose the spicy chicken sandwich and we were not disappointed. It was tender, flavorful and the perfect size. We also ordered the golden fries which were a good side item.
Cute retro vibe in the restaurant. Fast service. The food was okay nothing memorable but thats fine its just a fast food chain can't expect too much.

When a case of Mondays lasts into Wednesday, it's time to treatyoself to dinner. A burger & fries is never a bad idea, & absolutely not if it's from Lucy's! I've not had the pleasure of dining in, but have enjoyed my delivery. Ordered a Classic, my way (no cheese because damn that lactose intolerance) & a side of fries. My meal showed up quickly & traveled well. Burger had a bit of char which I appreciated & the fries were not only plentiful but delicious! Love when there's a bit of potato skin & they were seasoned just right. I'll definitely be ordering again & maybe trying a chicken sandwich I hear others rave about! I ordered delivery and got the prohibition smash burger. Fries. And a chocolate malt. What a disappointment. The malt was fine, and the fries were pretty standard Lucy's. But the burger was just a sad disappointment of where are the onions? Pickles and sauce were just weak. Did I get McDonalds on accident? Lucy's used to be so epic and consistent in their food and lately it's usually a big miss. Went from once a week ordering to once in while. read more

Uptown is such a great area with music and architecture, as soon as you get off the north side of Wilson CTA stop you'll come across a vibrant store on a classic corner. Visually draws your eye right in. But it only gets better as you go in. Classic American food. Great retro decor inside. Their burgers are super tasty and well prepared. Well portioned, juicy, great toppings. They have vegan options. I haven't tried the chicken yet but it looks great. I love they have some garlic aioli right next to the ketchup. It's so tasty. The service was super fast and friendly. Casual vibe, great spot to get your to grab a meal and head to one of the many Music venues. Probably the most convenient too. read more
I think this was one of the best hamburgers I have ever had. The meat patty was perfectly cooked, the lettuce and Tomato were fresh and crisp. We also ordered the mac&Cheese which was to die for!!! I highly recommend this place!!! Sooo good!! Only recommend to pick a lane on the music played. read more
After driving by this establishment multiple times between my place and Argyle, we have finally stopped in for some fried chicken sandwiches. Ambiance: It's a very cool and chill spot. Fun murals with 60s/70s background music to match. My bf was loving the vibe. Service: The cashier let us know when we walked in that they're closing in 45 min or so but never rushed us while we were eating. She also gave suggestions and, while I didn't know they only had spicy fried chicken and none that isn't spicy, that she would rate it a 5/10. Also gave more insight on the beers they had. Food: He got the Signature Spicy Fried Chicken sandwich with a side of fries and I got the Buffalo Fried Chicken sandwich with Mac and cheese. Both were delicious and honestly not that spicy. He has a really high heat tolerance so it was nothing for him, but me thinking sriracha has a nice kick to it, it wasn't even a 5/10 for me. Maybe down a notch to a 4. The Mac and cheese was super cheesy. Not a bad thing cause I lovee cheese but this was a little too much. Still took the extra home though and it was tasty the next day. My original review still stands based on the chicken sandwich and burger. They are good, just not mind blowing. I think a contributing factor is the fact that the two times I have ordered from there, it has been delivery. Both times the food was cold and required us to warm it up, including the fries. This time the food arrived by a gentleman on a bike. He was very nice and I tipped well, but the food was cold. That said, this time I ordered the Porky Fries. I am telling you that these were life affirming....smoked pork shoulder, bacon, BBQ, queso cotija and pickled jalapenos over fries. Lord Jesus! Skip the burger and chicken sandwich and just have these fries. They are a meal within themselves. Next time I will get them without the pickled jalapenos as they are hot as f*ck. but to be fair, I don't eat hot food so it may be ok for y'all. I was thinking that because they were pickled they wouldn't be hot. That said, as hot as those peppers were, I ate those fries. There was a lot of meat and bacon on them....pork heaven. Not sure I will be doing the sandwiches again, but will be picking up (not delivery) these fries again. read more

We stopped in here for a bite and drink before a concert nearby, and so glad we did! The drinks were great. The music rocked. The spicy chicken sandwich wasn't spicy but was tasty and so were the fries. My bf had a burger that was amazing. Also for being 7pm on a Thursday it was not busy and the service was super quick. read more

I really liked the atmosphere of this restaurant. Very 50's diner-esque. The playlist is pretty dope as well. The signature chicken sandwich had loads of crunch but not to the point where it'd ruin the roof of your mouth. I loved all the condiments on this sandwich. I'm not much of a coleslaw eater but it was pretty good on the sandwich. There was a hint of spice that sneaks up on your tummy later lol. Just wanted to make you all aware that you will have to run to the bathroom after some time but it is well worth it for the taste . One order of fries is enough to share for two people. read more
Omfg! This place was phenomenal. If you like chick fil-a spicy deluxe chicken sandwich, you will definitely enjoy the signature spicy chicken sandwich. The chicken had good amount of flavor and it was perfectly cooked, juicy. In my opinion the bread was too much but that's just me lol. Definitely check this spot out, you will not regret it. It's on the corner right by Wilson CTA. The workers are all so kind and in such good spirit when you come inside the restaurant; they welcome you with smiles. I'm so glad I stumbled upon this chicken sandwich restaurant. Great meal to end 2020. read more
Lucy's truly didn't disappoint! I originally discovered Lucy's via a friend who was bragging about their chicken sandwich. I knew I needed to check out Lucy's as soon as I visited the Uptown area again. I noticed that I could easily order takeout from Lucy's easily via the Yelp app when I finally found myself in the area. The menu was pretty straightforward, it seemed to highlight the chicken sandwich as being the must order item. The chicken sandwich was reasonably priced for how big the sandwich looked via the photos. I of course ordered the spicy chicken sandwich along with a side order of fries. My only gripe with Lucy's was that they initially gave a 20+ minute estimate for the food being ready but the wait time randomly went up 10 minutes. Luckily it was beautiful outside but with shelter in place I was trying to time when I needed to get to the restaurant since I couldn't sit inside like I normally would if the wait-time got increased. When I finally got the food the chicken sandwich was massive and delicious. I couldn't believe how big the sandwich was and the chicken was surprisingly tender. The photos don't do the sandwich justice when determining the size of the sandwich! I easily got two meals out of the sandwich and fries that I purchased from Lucy's. I would highly recommend checking them out. They also have a small outdoor space if you are interested dining at the restaurant. read more

Want an amazing fresh made chicken sandwich, this is the place to get it! Perfectly breaded and fried, it's juicy and nicely seasoned. The bun is the best as it doesn't get soggy or fall apart. Best fried pickles! Spears are lightly coated and they are never soggy, it's nice to still have a crunch! Mac and cheese along with the fries are flavorful as well. It's a great go to spot and if you order delivery, it travels well and is never soggy upon arrival. read more
On a cold sunny Saturday afternoon I decided to walk here after the gym. It's been awhile since the wife and I had burgers. Hard to find a better than average one. Conveniently located - I walked the lakefront path and turned on Wilson until I hit Broadway. Typically I consider most of Uptown sketch but no hate. Not sure about the parking either but it's a fairly busy intersection. Right at a Red Line stop too. Ordered to go - 2 Juicy Lucy's, fried pickles and an order of fries. All the sauces. Took awhile for the food and I noticed others who called ahead. Maybe I should have too. Next time. After a brisk walk home - Everything was still warm and delicious. Hit the spot for sure. I'd recommend it if in the area. Chicken sandwiches look fire too. Satisfied. read more

Holy macaroni, and I mean that, because not only does this place serve some piping hot and delicious Mac and Cheese, they really blew my mind with how perfect my meal was, even via DELIVERY. On this cold evening in Chicago after I arrived from my short trip from Cleveland, I simply did not feel like going out. I had recalled the name of Lucy's or the famous "Juicy Lucy" so I said, heck, why not? My biggest fear was that a burger with gooey cheese inside would not keep, but with the winning combo of the freshness of Lucy's and a star Uber Eats driver, everything came to me just right. Being the "want to try a little bit of everything" gal that I am, I went back and forth on what to get and I just had this huge urge to try the chicken sandwich too. I said, oh forget it, I'll eat whatever's left for lunch tomorrow. So forget it, I did. I got the most amazing chicken sandwich, a classic Juicy Lucy, some fried pickles and mac and cheese. Gotta get the whole picture, right? I must admit... while the burger was absolutely fantastic and exploding with cheese, there was something even more thrilling about the chicken sandwich. The sauce on the slaw, the texture of the chicken, the gigantic crunchy yet tender pieces, I mean... cmon. It's not common you nail every component of a spicy chicken sandwich. Maybe the bun, maybe the sauce, maybe the chicken, maybe the pickles... listen up, this one hits on all levels and when you see my photo it might show that better for you. All I can finish this one with is WOW! I was floored and my mouth is salivating just thinking about those sandwiches. Way to crush it, Lucy! read more

Food was decent - ordered a cheddar and onion burger. Sauce and cook of the onions were good. But for the price, they could be more generous with the onions. Vibe was nice - cute decor and fun music. Service was alright - typical behind the counter service. read more

I love Lucy's! The staff is always so friendly and kind. I don't think I have ever had a bad experience in the few times I've gone. The food is always fresh and made to order. The fries are always so good and they give you a lot! I always get the Pink Lady cocktail but they were out of an ingredient so they gave me my drink and a marg on the house. Ordered pick up. Burgers are good but the front counter is a mess. Picking up your food is confusing and the workers don't seem to know how to handle it. Waited even though it was well past the pickup time. Our French fries contained undercooked chunks of whole potatoes. Ordered and paid for aioli sauce but never received. No ketchup either. Going to have avoid going back. read more

Went here twice in the past month. Both times amazing experience. Their original Hot Spicy Chicken Sandwich is definitely the best chicken sandwich I have tasted in Chicago by far. For 10.95 its definitely a great deal. The chicken thighs in the sandwich is huge and the coleslaw with it compliments it perfectly. Just amazing. I also have gotten their regular fries, which were alright. The porky fries are a solid upgrade, but a little pricey imo. They have plenty of seating here. Parking is metered on Broadway. Service was quick and prompt. Friendly too. A must try. Definitely worth the visit in Uptown. read more

Okay I get the hype. Fresh, crispy chicken. Hot, fresh cut fries. Can't get any better than that. Stopped in before going to a concert at Aragon Ballroom and was not disappointed. It was pretty busy as it seemed like others had the same idea as me but my food still came out very quickly and was delicious. read more

My fav spicy fried chicken sandwich in chi chi, basically 3 huge chicken tenders in between buns, not complaining at all! Staff is always super friendly as well and don't forget the aioli when you go!! read more

Got food from here after a long day of walking around and it was the best thing ever! Definitely got the spicy fried chicken sandwich and porky fries, and both were oh so amazing. I have to say that I could eat the porky fries day after day, one of the best dishes I have eaten in a long time! The pork was just perfect.
