I was making a business trip to Santa Barbara from San Diego and looked up on Yelp for a Steakhouse close by. Both the reviews and referrals suggested Lucky's as the place to go and they were right! The bar is perfect especially if you find the 4 top by the window to be open. From the moment I asked for my Martini to the perfectly cooked bone in, I knew this was going to be a good night. It wasn't a problem going there by myself as the patrons were friendly and engaging. The service was on point not over the top just at tentative enough to remind me they were there to execute any requests. It's not your average restaurant, it's high end, even as a steakhouse...it's in Montecito and famous people go there... so it costs a little more, but worth it. The food is good, portions match the price, staff is pleasant and attentive. Never had a bad meal there. Never really had any issue since going there for the last 5 years. We usually go Friday or Saturday night for dinner, always a full house, but it never takes away from the service, nice atmosphere, quiet and relaxing. Definitely need to book at least 2-3 weeks in advance or you won't get a good time slot or even get in. They book fast. As for the noise level. Generally it is quiet and soothing, we can enjoy our meal. Out of about 10 visits, only twice was there a noise issue. Next to us was 2 older women drunk as a skunk, having a good time but loud, another time there a table of 7 drunk guys. The loud drunk distraction puts a damper on dinner. My wife and I went here a week ago and had some of the very worst service ever from a server named Brendan. We were very excited to try this place being from LA and a Lucky's is opening soon in downtown LA. We got there around 530 and we were lead to our table and instantly Brendan asked us if we were ready to order dinner. Before drinks, before appetizers and even before hello. We ordered drinks and he asked if we were ready for dinner, we where there 5 min. Then every 3 min thereafter, Brendan returned to ask us if we were ready to order. IF we had been doing things Brendan's way, we would have been out of there in 30 min. At one point we even asked if he was worried about turning the table around and his response was "No thats not it" and he left. The food was actually really good, but will not be going back as long as Brendan is working there. He was rude, pushy and arrogant. For an almost $400 dollar meal, it should have felt like an experience, not a cattle call. I read a review that said if you are not famous at Lucky's they will not treat you well, guess they were right. Hope Oprah, Megan and Harry, Ellen and the rest don't get Brendan as a waiter, they will be sorely disappointed. read more

My husband and I celebrated our 23rd anniversary dinner at Lucky's tonight. The food and service was impeccable. I really enjoyed the Hamachi first dish, my husband loved his steak with green peppercorn sauce, and the creamed spinach was reminiscent of Musso and Franks. Yum! But, I am writing this review specifically to address how an awkward situation was handled by the staff. A "couple" were sitting nearby and the female received a call and spoke loudly on speaker in Russian at the table. She and her date did not seem to acknowledge subtle hints that this wasn't appreciated by other patrons. One of those guests complained and the two were brought the bill, with a request to lower their voices. The male, who was a hot shot attorney from Beverly Hills, was insulted and treated the waiter, Eno, like crap. The manager, Larry handled the situation with manner and grace. They finally left and we were all relieved. While the food was the reason we were there, the reason we will be back was because the quality of staff, like these two, deserves recognition. I came here recently for a birthday and was happy with my service. The staff was very friendly from the moment we entered to our server. She was very kind and attentive. I do agree it was on the pricier end BUT it is a steakhouse in Montecito...so I was expecting that and was Not shocked. We ordered the warm goat cheese and hazelnut salad which was phenomenal!!! The cheese melts right in your mouth. I ordered the filet open faced sandwich and I was VERY happy with my order. The meat was cooked perfectly and was nice and juicy and the fries were a great addition with the meal. I was surprised my boyfriend ordered the 10 oz steak and not only was it $30 more than my dish, he didn't receive any sides included. I actually thought my dish was tastier and it was on the less pricy end. I REALLY am grateful to the staff for providing my boyfriend a free delicious dessert for his birthday it always means a lot to me when servers go out of their way to celebrate a birthday. We didn't have reservations but they accommodated us which was great on a busy night. There's outside seating in front but we were inside near the entrance. Our server was knowledgeable and honest about portion sizes and recommendations. Be aware you order an entree and have to pay for sides. The steak came out undercooked but was super happy that they did that. It is one of the best steakhouse I've ever been to. I really want to try out other menus. Service is chaotic. After eating at the Malibu location many many times we decided to try the original location. All they had was a table on the patio which is on the street. We were told we had to be done by 8:15 PM which would have been no problem if the servers had a clue. They were so busy sucking up to the table next to us that it took almost an hour to place our order. The onion strings were cold and instead of getting us a new order the server had them re-cook the ones we sent back. The chilli was very salty and because they had a private party the first waiter never came back and a new one took over. He was the worst server I have ever had and there is no way I would recomend this place and I will never go back. Unless you are a regular they treat you like you don't belong. Before dinner we went to the Miramar hotal for cocktails and the sunset viewing and it was amazing. The appitizers and cocktails were out of this world. We eat out alot and to spend the money on a terrible meal is beyond unacceptable. Stay away or try Malibu where the food and service is amazing. read more

Visiting the city for a staycation, & our host recommended this steakhouse to us. We came here with high hopes but left feeling disappointed in the food. Service was great & we really appreciated how attentive the staff was. However, it felt as if the food didn't have any salt in it at all. We ordered a Porterhouse, hash brown potatoes with gruyere cheese, broccolini & Cesar salad. Everything was extremely under seasoned. Even the peppercorn & mushroom Raghu sauces :/ I've been to MANY steakhouses & unfortunately I've never been this disappointed in the flavor of the food. This made me question the price. WORST DINING EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! My family and I came on Easter and the entire lunch was terrible! Did I mention that we were charged for mimosas AND orange juice that we never ordered or had?! That's a total of $36!! NOT COOL! We were seated immediately, but waited for quite some time for someone to take our drink order. I get that on Sunday's people normally do brunch, but what about those that don't feel like eating eggs and sandwiches? Why have the menu so limited, and until 3pm? Sorry, I like my eggs BEFORE 12pm. Not after. Lemme tell you about the staff... Our waitress, Jane, seemed overwhelmed from the beginning and kept using "I'm new" as her excuse for every single mistake -- big no-no! She wrote everything down yet managed to forget my salad, gave me fries with my burger when I didn't order them, under cooked my oldest son's burger (it was pink; I said "well done") and forgot to bring us our soda refills. Not only was my family VERY, VERY upset with the level of service we received but I was left utterly disappointed. This is an establishment in Montecito; it should be a fine dining experience! The servers are phenomenal and for the most part, have all paid their dues with years of experience. If I do go, I always ask for Carolyn as my server. I came in once for my birthday and I was on a strict diet and wasn't planning on being able to order dessert. she was able to finagle a dessert of sorbet with fresh fruit I didn't find on the menu but fit my dietary needs and made me feel so absolutely special on my bday. The way she went above and beyond without me asking really touched me.
