First time here. Vacationing here for my wife and another friend's birthday. We came as a party of 12 for a Saturday night reservation at 7pm. We were seated along the back of the restaurant by one of the sets of single occupancy bathrooms. Not very appealing having so much foot traffic walk by our party's table. Things must be tough for this restaurant as it seemed woefully understaffed. For a group of our size with 12, you'd think there would be more than one server to organize the orders and ensure the timing of our meal came out correctly. Disappointingly, this was not the case (more details to follow, but first some "positives") Pros: 1. Cocktail and wine menu was nice and robust. Lots of great choices. The favorite cocktail amongst our group was then "Montecito Manhattan" (see picture). 2. Bread basket: nice variety of a couple of breads including sourdough and a dark pumpernickel maybe? Cons: 1. Food quality was disappointing. Under seasoned was probably the most consistent theme. The side dishes such as the cream of spinach was bland and lacked creamy texture. The "spice rubbed" pork chop was bland and tasteless. My wife's filet mignon was so under seasoned you really could call it edible. Bone-in filet was over cooked. I ordered medium rare and was brought out medium to medium wel. 2. But the worst offender tonight was the service. As I said earlier, my steak was over cooked, and since I am paying for an $85 steak, I expect it to be done the way I ordered it. So I figured I would ask to have it done over. What a waste of time and HUGE mistake! It took forever...and I am not being overly dramatic saying so. It was nearly 20 min before my steak was brought out. By that time our party was done eating dinner. 3. But it gets WORSE! After waiting for almost 20 min for my steak to be re-done, the two desserts that require advance notice to prepare (Molten Chocolate Cake and Grand Marnier Soufflé) came out! Our party's just barely finished dinner (except for me since they screwed up and took forever to fix) and we had no one clear our table before these two so called special desserts were already brought and plopped down on our table. We had no new plates or utensils, and others in our party had been waiting to order their desserts. We only told our server about these two items because there were instructions advising us to order ahead. We did not expect that they would disregard how to time and stage our dinner by bringing it out that early. 3. Desserts were mediocre. Probably a result of poor organization by the server. 4. Had to request that the delayed steak and two cold desserts be taken off our bill. Would have been a better move by the server or management to automatically do this instead of having to wait for me to ask. Bottomline: We spent nearly $1500 dollars to celebrate my wife's birthday along with our large group. It was a disappointing dining experience. I would NOT recommend this restaurant. Nor would I ever consider trying it again. For an establishment that's touted as the best steak house in the area, it's mediocre and average. I have had better service at better prices elsewhere in Los Angeles and Orange County. read more

I have been looking for a new writing hangout, I used to adore the Four Seasons. Ive now tried Lucky's in Montecito, for brunch. As Im alone I really dont mind being stuck in the dark inside corner, but someone else might. The service does not match the prices. An 18 dollar bowl of gazpacho that was inedible to me, and a Greek Salad. Prepared thoughtfully, bit no red onion, no pepper, no ground pepper. Just Romaine lettuce, one tomato, and extremely tart feta. A bread basket with two slim pieces if warm sourdough bread made it palatable , but not the sweet rolls they offered. A complimentary Bellini came with it, but it wasn't fresh white peach juice and good champagne, it was something else that frankly I couldn't finish. I tried to order another cocktail but they left me alone in the corner for ten minutes , so I guess not. Maybe try later but quite disappointing. read more

We heard the great reputation about this historic steakhouse and wanted to check it out. We were first seated in the outside patio area in a tent and close to the street; basically tucked into a tight corner. Nope. We asked to move to another table inside and were accommodated, thank goodness. The ambiance was classic and beautiful old glamour inside, so much better. It was a busy evening in the height of tourist season, so we kept that in mind, but things seemed off on our visit with service. Our server was lovely, but she admitted she was tired, so that was likely part of the issue. We started with an amazing martini straight up and it seemed like two drinks in one because of the size. We weren't too hungry, so we split the Warm Goat Cheese Salad, which was fantastic, and tried the Abalone appetizer based on my sister's suggestion. Sadly, we agreed it was chewy; do not recommend. We shared the tuna entree and it was prepared perfectly, then wanted something decadent, so we tried with Skinny Onion strings. They were mid and greasy, so we had a few bites and left most behind. We tried the warm Apple cobbler a La mode for dessert and agreed that was delicious. I have a feeling this place is wonderful most nights and think we could have ordered better. Also, it was very busy. The vibe was fun and bustling and when we walked through the bar after dinner, it was packed, so we left. We will be back another time! read more

Well had to try it. Lucky's steakhouse, everybody talks about the place to go for steak. We went for my husband's birthday because he is a steak lover. The service is excellent, pretty close to the best we have ever experienced. The food was good but for the prices they charge I was expecting exceptional. Recommend any of the potato sides, they were excellent. Had baked potato with all the fixings, mashed potato and hash browns with cheese. I ordered chopped salad, disappointed for the $24.00 price. I could not find the shrimp that it said was part of the salad (well, maybe a sliver) was in the salad. So glad I asked for crumbled Roquefort on the side, it added much needed flavor. And you would think cannellini beans were expensive because I had all of four in my salad. My husband did enjoy his steak but said he has had steak just as good for half the price. So if you want a fun night and money is no object then go for the expensive experience. One time experience it is worth it. read more

If you enjoy and old school steak house, with an exceptional wine and cocktail list this is the place for you. Service was warm, friendly and impeccable. We were immediately greeted upon arrival and taken to our table. We were seated at a table for two, although the establishment was not full. It would have been nice to have the extra space on our table if a four top was available, but I understand keeping them open for possible walk in business. Our waitress took our drink order and we took the opportunity to ask a few questions about the menu. It was very nice to learn that many of the dishes were gluten free, or easily made gluten free. Fun surprise...our martinis were shaken at the table..and it was so fun and cheerful. I loved it.....so I just had to order another. Wouldn't you..? We decided to order the abalone, dry aged flannery steak, and the potatoes with gruyere cheese. The abalone was cooked perfectly, it was tender and the sauce was delicate and complemented the abalone perfectly. The potatoes, my fiancé liked them very much but to me they were just potatoes. Surprisingly the steak was difficult for me, it was very lean and a bit gamey. I don't know much about this particular cut, so this may be as expected. Just not my personal preference. I am not gonna put just 1 star because a lot of things are good about this place. But if I am gonna spend $17 for a Ceasar salad give me a real Ceasar salad or go to Tijuana and learn how to make one. The Ceasar salads used to be good here. Secondly the inconsistency of the steaks. I got the same steak 2 different times about 1 week apart. They were filets and completely different cuts of steak, the second time looked like something that came from Ralph's and I may have to start looking for a new hot spot due to inconsistency with both proportions and quality. read more

Watch your step when going to bathroom almost fell front forward in my heels there is non visible drop. Appetizer was the burrata and disappointing-the tomatoes were not heirloom and cut thick, no olive oil, vinaigrette or lemon zest. It was fresh, but not savory. First time here for someone's birthday and I was slightly disappointed by the food. I had high hopes for the steaks but it kind of flopped for me. I'll give an updated review again next week to see what's up since I'm attending another birthday dinner here. Got the Romanian (sliced) and Delmonico steak, sweet potato fries, creamed corn and warm Bread pudding. The Romanian steak definitely had more flavor than the Delmonico steak and was cooked to perfection. As for the Delmonico, it was just a piece of meat with a piece of bone. Asked for my steak medium rare and it was definitely on the rare side for sure. Sweet potato fries were a big flop for sure. Probably won't be getting it again, and especially for $15 it was not worth. For sure on the floppy side and soggy side. Creamed corn was a crowd pleasure! Super good and rich. Warm bread pudding was nice, it was made with raisin bread and it looked like melted ice cream on the bottom haha. It was nice to try for the first time, but I probably won't be getting that again either. read more

Having walked around downtown Santa Barbara all day we could not wait for our reservations here for dinner as we were referred to dine here by a few of our friends that had frequented the Santa Barbara area. We each ordered appetizers and perfectly cooked steaks. I think the only thing I would have wanted a little more salt on the steak to enhance it. Even the spicy garlic butter wasn't enough. Perhaps a sauce for the steak next time? A side for each and a generously poured glass of wine and mixed drink. Let me tell you, I wish there was more than two of us so we could try all the things!-especially all the potatoes! Had such a yummy meal at Lucky's - I was really excited to go! I ordered a delicious lemon drop martini and the open faced steak sandwich with mushrooms and a half side of creamed corn. The creamed corn was some of the best I've ever had - a MUST try! The sandwich was very yummy and the fries it came with are also great. Not the BEST steak I've ever had, but still a great meal. The service was very attentive and accommodating. The food was very good. We ordered the French Onion Soup, Romanian Steak, and the Surf & Turf. The steaks were perfectly cooked at medium rare and were deliciously seasoned. The lobster was slightly over cooked and firm. The mash and Brussel sprouts sides were very decent. But the steak that my boyfriend ordered was terrible. The pepper New York steak was completely covered in peppercorns. Like completely. Even after scraping them off, the taste was just unbearable. He couldn't even finish half of it. I got the vegetarian burger, which I didn't have high hopes for so I wasn't really let down. It was okay. Afterwards my boyfriend's stomach hurt really bad too. The price should not stop you, because amazing quality and taste, great service and lovely ambiance worth it! My 9 year daughter and I visited on Friday for lunch. Dirty Martini was perfect ( I like it a bit extra dirty and very few placed get it right on the first try), I ordered grilled artichoke and Cobb salad. At times Artichoke can be filling and main course will be too much, but it is not the case here. It was so testy and light and left me wanting more :) Then Cobb salad arrived! The food and service are incredible at Lucky's. It's one of our favorite date night and adult family outings! Their Romanian steak is one of my favorite dishes, marinated in Garlic and thinly sliced. They have a delicious lemon drop, just be careful with their cocktails because they're huge!
