4/5 Lucky Dog - Williamsburg's Dog-Forward Dive That Mostly Delivers Visited: September 2025 Pack Present: Maya (Queen of Composure) & River (Urban Explorer) Vibes If you love dive bars, Lucky Dog is exactly what you'd want: relaxed, graffiti-wrapped, and a little scruffy in all the right places. The back patio is where the magic happens, dogs lounging on the bricks, humans lounging over beers. It's Brooklyn-coded bliss. Dog Friendliness (Mostly) I brought two dogs, Maya and River, and while they were more than capable of handling the environment, here's the scoop: * No bowls provided, just paper cups for water. You have to grab water yourself from inside, which becomes tricky when you have more than one pup. Holding your drink + leashes + navigating back inside? Bit of a logistical nightmare. * Dogs aren't technically allowed inside the bar, so everything must happen outside -- which means: * You go in, they stay out. * You bring drinks out, they look at you like you betrayed them. * You refill water? That's a whole dance. Would love to see a self-service water station or at least a staff member offering a bowl or two during busy hours. It's not that they aren't dog-friendly, it's that the infrastructure hasn't caught up to the brand. People & Other Dogs The people were lovely. Other dogs were mostly well-behaved. No incidents, no tension. That said, you do need to stay vigilant. Dogs were off-leash at times, and while mine were comfortable, this might not be the place for someone managing a reactive or timid dog. It's not a dog park, but it's also not not a dog park. Environment * Outdoor seating is rustic and charming. * Ground is dog-safe: textured brick, not too hot. * Mural walls make for great photos if your dog will sit still (Maya did, River had priorities). * Accessibility: Watch the stairs if you're juggling multiple dogs, drinks, and dignity. Final Thoughts Lucky Dog gets a lot right. It's a bar first, dog space second. If you're confident managing your dogs, especially in the presence of others, it's a great hang. Just don't come expecting white-glove service for your four-legged guests. Bring your own bowl. Keep a leash handy. And prepare to improvise. Would I come back? Yes. With Maya, River, and one less paper cup to worry about.

New Year's Eve

Luckydog is everything I look for in a dive bar. Good music (even if it never comes out of the jukebox), shuffleboard and pinball in the back, a backyard for nice weather in the summer, a surprisingly long and diverse draft list, and bouncers and bartenders who remember your name. I've tried the other bars by the same owner and they're great but there's a reason Luckydog will always be my go-to. I wish there were more food partners who would deliver locally, but Mission Sandwiches complement the drinks well and you can't beat delivery down the street. I'll shout out SuperBurrito too for their proximity and quality. We've done New Year's Eve here the last two years and even though it's busy, it felt like home and the best way to ring in the New Year with fun people.

Love this bar and I've been coming here for years. Come grab a drink and chill. The bartenders are everything here!

My dogs live this place and want to go every week. My little one likes the shots. Our older one goes for the atmosphere. Laid back joint. Decent prices. Somewhat friendly bartenders. Large patio. Open late. Good times. Key selling point... DOG FRIENDLY

The servers at Luckydog were obnoxiously rude. With no menu on site, both bartenders were angry when we asked for drinks they didn't have on the menu. They went as far as to tell us to, "go nextdoor" if we wanted "those" kind of drinks. We wanted mixed drinks. They were busy and the line was long, but their anger shouldn't be taken out on the customers. We tried to break a $100 bill. The bartender took the $100 bill out of my friends hand (my friend is black), looked at him, gave the $100 bill back, and then told him that the bar doesn't take hundreds. Why did he take the hundred dollar bill out of my friends hand if they don't take hundreds? Why isn't there a sign that says they don't take hundreds? When my group of friends called him out for his discriminatory actions he told them not to take it, "so f'ing seriously". The margaritas were awful. Check out the cheese sandwiches they're giving out for COVID. Gross.

Fun and dog friendly bar. If you don't like dogs then don't come here. Luckydog is one of the best bars in Williamsburg. Happy hour is a good deal. They let dogs inside and there's another area outside. Good prices at happy hour or any hour. It feels like a dive bar plus dog park. The service is pretty spotty. It can take awhile to be acknowledged. The last time here we got served right away however. As expected, if the weather is warm, it's busy. People are more likely to be walking dogs. If you aren't with a dog, there's fun to be had at the bar. The place can get pretty crowded because there's not a whole lot of room. At happy hour they have some cheap drinks. It's about $3 for well drinks. They usually don't have food. I like it more when it's warm enough. Outdoor seating is much more comfortable than inside. The dog owners are usually friendly and the dogs are behaved most of the time.

Bar fight

Stopped by here after not being able to sneak into another lounge with the pup so we came here. It was a rough crowd and as you can see, Oso got into a bar fight immediately. We cooled off with some craft beers after he roughed up the other dude. Followed that up with some shuffleboard with our crew. It was nice and cool inside and the outdoor backyard was packed too. Overall, we'd say we had a good time.

Luckydog is a true dog bar supposed to be full of people bringing their dogs! When we went on a Saturday night it was dogless but still a cool slightly above a dive-level bar. Very chill, great beer selection at acceptable prices, good service, nice neighborhood type of bar.

There were more dogs there than expected. The place was pretty packed with lots of people. If you want to drink simply with your dog, this place is perfect. They have a backyard so your dog can meet other dogs.

When my friend call me to meet for our regular friend time, I had to come see her with my dog since I had him with me. She said, oh let's go to Lucky Dog, they allow dogs. She could not had picked a better place, I mean this friend knows just about ALL the best places to have fun. Omg! What a cool and awesome bar. As I walked in, there were a few nice friendly dog there who greeted and played with my dog. It's a heavenly place for dogs, the vibe of the place is one of a kind, super friendly. My dog was even happier than me, he was walking all over wagging his tail, I could see the happiness in his eyes. My dog made a few human friends, he was working on the girls better than any man...he left me by my chair and went to hang out with some cute girls on the other side of the bar, I saw the girls talking and petting him. He stayed there for a while hanging with the girls, good thing I am not jealous, I let him have his fun. He kept going from the girls to the other dogs to play and socialize, he showed me that he has better social skills than me, he just blended with the crowd, he felt like the king of the night, and every one who walked in the bar, greeted and pet him. The drinks were nice and affordable, not expensive like other places. For 3 beers, 1 juice and a snack the bill was 29.98. Not bad at all for a few hours of fun. The Bartenders were all nice and attentive, excellent customer service. They kept making sure that we had everything we needed as far as drinks. There is a Lovely back yard with tables. I will surely be back, it was very relaxing to find a cool spot to wind off after work with my dog and my friend.

Graham is the greatest bartender on the planet, and I'm not just saying that because he controls my bar tab and gave me a free sandwich. I mean it, very sincerely. You should come to this bar, unless you're an asshole... then not so much. I'd also like to make sure none of the other bartenders at Lucky take offense to my singling out Graham for special attention. Ashley, Kaylee (is that how she spells her name?), Joel, Savanah, Bryant.... shit. I'm going to have to come back and edit this review a few times. No good deed goes unpunished. Here's a picture of me from my highschool yearbook circa 1989 for no apparent reason.

Brought my Scotty bear to a bar :)
Courtney D.

Had a great time here a week or so ago and was so happy I could bring my puppers! There were also a plethora or other doggy friends he could play with which was great. What's even better is that mostly every human which enters the bar is a fellow dog lover (honestly, if you did not pet my dog when you walked in I thought you were possibly a sociopath bc WHO does not pet an adorable golden retriever puppy). The sole reason I knocked off one star is because the bartender was a bit rude and awkward. I saw her badger other people for bigger tips and constantly check receipts when folks closed their tab. Luckydog is by no means an upscale bar...its a dive establishment which barely serves food and mostly serves beer. I've never seen this type of behavior at any bar i've frequented but hey guess its her thing. To each their own, at least the patrons are good sports :)

aperol spritz (dog not included)
Carly L.

Awesome casual DOG-FRIENDLY bar with a comfy patio in the back! The aperol spritz ($10) was bubbly and tasty, and the raspberry mint daiquiri (blended with real fruit and fresh mint, $10) was so refreshing on a hot day. Note: bring cash to save a little! There's a small fee for cards.

Is the outside area open in the winter? Is it covered / heated?

There's a covered area but most of it is not covered. I didn't see any heating outside.

It ended up being a nice spot for a casual catch-up, though with a few mixed impressions. The space itself is cute and very much feels like a neighborhood bar. One of the things we liked most was that they have games available--we ended up playing Scrabble while waiting for our friend to arrive, which made the time go by quickly and added to the relaxed vibe. Happy hour prices are solid, and the fried pickles we shared were decent. I also had a watermelon cocktail that was refreshing and perfectly fine, if not particularly memorable. Service was a bit inconsistent. The bartender wasn't very warm or welcoming to us initially, though that changed once our friend--who is a regular--arrived. Overall, it's a comfortable spot to meet friends and hang out for a few hours, especially on a weekday like Thursday. That said, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return, but I can see why it works well as a local neighborhood hang.

After a nice stop and a secret garden in west Greenwich, I decided to use the points I had racked up and suggested a beverage at the Spaniard. It was agreed upon, in part as i suggested "they probably have a nice bathroom". Of which they did. It helped they had a nice house drink menu too. My gal found something she would like, and she did. After a fun drink off their menu I got a scotch. Old Putney 12 year. My Lourd it was good. If we had time I would have gotten an Oban they had, but we were off. But we will be back, maybe this year. And if I have racked up enough points in the area, I will suggest this excellent whisky bar.

The chicken cutlet and chicken dumplings were fine but I probably wouldn't order them again. The wait staff weren't super attentive nor super warm, but they were efficient when we asked for water refills, etc. There was ample standing room at the bar while we waited for our friends, but the table/booth that we sat at was super narrow, I was knocking knees with my friend all night and generally felt squished.

Operating as two separate entities, with separate drink menus and some shared food items, both Sip and Guzzle lived up to the hype!! GUZZLE This is the restaurant component with more casual drinks and creative dishes. For two people, they recommend about 6 dishes. I was so sad that the Tavern Burger already sold but I guess it means I have to come back! -Started off with the tasty volcano roll. Combing spicy tuna, coconut sticky rice, and candied, crunchy seaweed roll, it had a nice textural contrast amongst the spice, umami, and sweet flavor profiles. -The pork yaki featured super tender and well seasoned meat skewer with a candied outer layer in addition to the fun cotton candy! -The mochi french fry was FIRE! Its chewy and crunchy at the same time and be sure to pair it with the addicting gochujang-based sauce that is garlic-y and honey-y with a nice spice kick. -The bikini was perf for cheese lovers like me and especially if you like jamon and truffle to make it even more umami. Just make sure you get a good well-balanced bite! -The electric chicken was juicy, tender, crunchy, crispy, and well seasoned! Its less spicy and salty compared to that of Pecking House but still delicious! Plus you get to cut it with fun scissors! -The cabbage was good with a creamy, tangy white sesame sauce, but can skip next time -The chicken chips and salsa was interesting with their chicharron-inspired chicken chips. The salsa had 3 layers of mango, avocado, and jalapeño with a salted foam. -The Hokkaido milk soft serve was super smooth and milky - exactly how I envisioned what I want my milk ice cream to taste like! -Drinks: The lychee martini was amazing for people who like floral/sweet drinks. The wagyu old fashion was very peanut- and whiskey-forward. SIP This is speakeasy bar downstairs that features a variety of innovative drinks -Strawberry Hotpot: I was skeptical at first but this drink was *delicious*!! I find myself too guilty to drink the soup after hotpot or ramen because its often too greasy. Fear not because this clarified drink packages similar flavors into an easily enjoyable alcoholic drink!! Its umami and spicy with just the right amount of peppercorn oil. The strawberry is just present enough to balance out the savoriness, and not too fruity nor sweet at all! Its also cutely served at tableside with a big teapot. -Satsuma Creamsicle: A multilayer drink that was so fun to drink because each sip at a specific angle allows you get a little bit of the tangy and creamy foam, as well as the sweet and cream soda-like drink. -Plantain Colada: A banana/plantain prominent drink with some coconut vibes and bites. -Negroni in the Shade: A refreshing drink with just the right amount of grape flavors. Drinking out of the bowl while eating the tea leaf salad from a miniature bowl/spoon was also fun! Overall staff were very nice and attentive. They helped me get on the waitlist for Sip and timed everything very nicely so that the transition from dinner to more drinks was seamless.
