This is the most clannish grocery in SlowNoma. The staff there is 100% hell bent on socializing with each other and super duper concerned about who's on break when and where and when that member of their "clan" is coming back. Every time I'm being rung up without missing a beat, a female employee has her head turned and keeps turning it to face the stand behind her up to 39 times in a row asking her fellow "clan member" in a b*tchy whiny mannerism when a employee is coming back and how long they're gonna be off clock or that they're lost and shouldn't be on break and how she needs her back and blah blah. So basically this jackass backwards training these "clan members of Lucky's California supermarket" have is to take us customers for granted and act like we have trespassed into their territory and do not belong there. The self checkout woman looks unwell and is laid up in a wheel chair and rests her arms and head on the tiny desk there. Last time she was in an office rolly chair. She should just go home and recover until she's well enough to work again..am not trying to be mean but with the skeleton crew this dumpster fire is running on, running on fumes mind you, and a disability case hardly manning the self checkout out. Like no guys. Every time I'm ready to check out the line is 10-45 carts deep into the aisles with one f*ng cashier. You guys are downright jackasses. Large selection of Glutin Free items conviently shelved together. Most days I need only hit that isle to find a good selection of GF snacks, pastas, baking supplies and mixes. Often find new to me GF items there as well. I also like their deli sandwiches. In a rush they have fresh $6 premade sandwiches. The produce is good. Seem to cater to Hispanic foods/brands which I also find appealing. I was charged for an item I didn't receive once. I returned to explain and they resolved it without question. read more

So it's not surprising that this store only has a 2.5 rating!!! Another nightmare experience that started at 2pm Tuesday and didn't get resolved until 9:00 am Wednesday. So much stress and anxiety that could have been resolved at the store Tuesday afternoon right when it happened. Instead they tell me to go home and if I find a problem with my CC that Cheryl the bookkeeper would be there at 5:00am and could take care of the problem. Chery had come up to the register when Delores was completely screwing everything up on my card..not making any sense to what she was doing and the line was getting backed up quickly....so I agreed to go home and check everything. (Big Mistake!). Should have stayed there until they fixed the problem!!!! It only gets worse from here....after I got home and checked with my bank I found they had charged me twice $94.00. So I called back and Delores practically accused me of trying to defraud them when she was the one that made all the errors!! Delores is mentioned many times in the reviews here about how she is so rude and yells at the customers and the employees!! She can't admit when she is wrong and blames the customers for her mistakes. I'm surprised they haven't trained her in customer service. Why don't they deal with this situation I wonder? She is definitely not a fit for customer service and she is making the store look really bad. So i could barely sleep at all that night worrying about trying to explain all she did with my card to Cheryl who had told me herself she would take care of the problem. I got there at 6:00am when the store opened and before I had a chance to even explain to her what Delores had done to my card she said I can't help you....I have a call in to my people and have to hear back from the accounting department about the charges on your card. I insisted on showing her my reciepts because it was very confusing but I had figured it out. She acted put out and said I'll call you. What???? I just drove in the dark to get there before she got busy to take care of this and now she has to have her team figure it out? She acted like she had a lot of other things to do and didn't want to be bothered with this. So I left but I just wanted to get this taken care of so I could go on with my day. So an hour went by and I went back to the store shortly after 7am. She saw me walk in and immediately turned and walked the other way to avoid me. This time I decided to take the matter up with the manager Syeed and Cheryl tried to keep me from speaking to him but I told her I wasn't leaving until I spoke with him. Well like I said it just keeps getting worse....Syeed the manager of the store was so rude and acted like he didn't even want to or listen to me or look at the reciepts or anything. He could have cared less about the inconvenience they have put me through...no apology at all and just said well we can't just put $94 dollars back on someones card without the accounting department giving approval. What???? I had the reciepts!!! So I asked him how long it would take and he said he didn't know and acted like he really did not care. So I went home and waited for them to call and by 9:00 am I decided to contact their corporate office and let them know about this situation and how I was treated at the store.....and the phone rings and it's Cheryl the bookkeeper...she says the accounting department just refunded $94 to my card and it might take a while to show up. I told her I don't think they realize the level of anxiety this all caused me and Delores practically accused me of trying to scam the store. She said she would bring that up with her manager but I don't trust anything Cheryl tells me....I've pointed out so many errors on the tags being wrong and items being overcharged and she always has an attitude about it and never ever apologizes for the inconvenience. You may ask me why I continue to shop there??....and the reason is it is closest to my house and the produce department is the best with the most fresh vegetables and fruit and better prices.... can't say that for the other departments but I am a personal chef and I make all vegan/gluten free meals for my client so I put quality over my convenience and constantly being offended. I'm going to try to do self checkout as much as I can. P.S. There are some very nice employees there that I have enjoyed meeting and talking to and they have been very helpful with great customer...it's too bad the others can't learn from them. ‍ read more

Well I just keep having the same problem every time I go to this store. It happens other places too but Lucky really puts the customer through the ringer when they overcharge you on a product...you call it to their attention and they make you wait and wait and wait while they walk all the way to the back of the store while they check the price. Yesterday a bought a pound of butter that is usually $7.99 but it was on sale with a big yellow tag that said $4.99 so I got it. (Lesson learned...take a photo of the price so when I get up to the register I can show them the picture of the tag). Should not have to do this but it would have saved me 20 minutes trying to get my $3 refund. After waiting about 10 minutes for the manager to go check the price she comes back and says she can't find it so I have to walk her all the way to the back of the store and show her the tag. Sure enough big yellow tag that says $4.99. So we walk all the way back to the front of the store and she finally gives me back my $3.00. So now I have to snap a picture of every item I buy on sale or I will have to wait 20 minutes for them to verify it. Is this normal? I shop at Lucky because of their sales and produce department and it's closest to my home. When this happens at Safeway they quickly refund your money no questions asked so it's painless. Why can't they just make sure all sale items are correctly plugged into the system so at checkout it rings up properly and if it does happen just believe the customer...especially a regular one that they see in there all the time. I think if they over ring a product then it should be free! read more

Don't give many one star reviews to a grocery store but this one got it. So I'm from out of state and buy two items. I want to save time so I go to the self service register. Ring my two items up then it asks me how many bags I have. Apparently in ass backwards California they charge you ten cents per bag??? I guess I could have typed in zero but my mistake was in selecting "one." Then I notice there aren't any bags to get at self check out...at not one if the four check out registers. WTF??? So I see a clerk at the counter that is supposed to be assisting self check out. I go to him and say " so I'm being charged ten cents for a bag you don't have?" He says; "Oh, they're over there," and points to the actual manned register next to us. So who gets the bag? The customer or the actual employee??? I DO!!!!! So "I" walk over to get the bag that's supposed to be at the self check out register anyways, walk back, pick up my two items, put them in my bag and the stupid machine now says it can't verify the number of bags I have and to wait for a "customer service representative." That's the guy who FAILED to do his job in the first place and...wait for it...is now left the stand and went into an office!!! The ONLY visible employee is at the full service register. After waiting 2 minutes with zero help I grab my stupid ten cent bag and two items and walk over the full service register saying to the female clerk, "your self service register doesn't like me. I'm from out of state and it keeps saying I have more than one bag." Now by this time the original guy has now stepped out of his office, goes to the register I was at, clears the machine of my purchase but then picks up a container of potato salad that was probably left there 2 hours ago and says; "Is this yours?" I say no, then the female clerk checking me out says; "I thought that was yours?" WTF!!!!!!!! I simply want to pay for the TWO items I have the ridiculous ten cent bag I'm FORCED to pay for and get out. My DNA isn't anywhere on that potato salad container that now probably has Salmonella in it and she thinks it's mine??? Such a cute store but the customer service is in the shitter... read more

I had the displeasure of dealing with Checker DOLORES last night 07/29/23. I was grabbing some of the change that was leftover in the automatic change dispensing tray when she swiped my hand away and said that's not your money! I was shocked at that! I said o I'm sorry so whose money is it? She just got louder and more rude saying the same thing. She finally said this money belongs to the company! I was shocked with her response as it clearly did not. She then started yelling at me and berating me in front of my daughter! I asked her for her name and at first it sounded like something else, hard to pronounce and then she said, "why you want my name" I said I'd like to know who I'm doing business with. Then berating and belittling continued as she spelled out the name DOLORES in a very demeaning way, talking to me as if I was a child! I believe that this woman had been rude to us before! So, I guess D-O-L-O-R-E-S STRUCK AGAIN! I really hope that something is done about her SERIOUS attitude problem because yelling at your customers is NEVER the right and appropriate thing to do! It was especially embarrassing because i had my 15 year old daughter with me and you want unfortunate moments like these to be an opportunity to teach your kids how to act and what, if anything, to do but I kinda froze! But we did speak about it afterwards and that is a big reason that I believe I should follow up with corporate just so they are aware as well and just so they have a written complaint on file in case they need it to establish a pattern which I can clearly see. Being that this was a small town grocery store I did expect better. Whenever I arrived at this location it was on the heels of literally walking out of another grocery store in Sonoma pretty much a last ditch effort at attempting to feed myself before setting off to further destinations. The deli department was moderately painless. The employee who helped me wasn't the friendliest in the world but I was willing to overlook it. That was until I went to the cashier to pay at the front of the store. I had grabbed a few more items before paying and noticed as I was done getting "rung up" that I left my card outside and dashed outside to grab it. Once I returned with the public benefits card the entire mood shifted. I am not one to make a big deal out of things on the spot but the woman decided to try and feed me a story about how I need to pay for bags despite the fact I had to embarrass myself by waiving the food stamp card in the air...like I didn't care.... Again $0.20 cents is $0.20 cents right? I did some quick maths in my head while attempting to explain the bags should of been free. $.20 multiply that by roughly what a 1000 customers a day? That's $200 now multiply that by 365 days a year that's a cool even $73,000. Where pray tell is that money going if it shouldn't of been charged to begin with? Honestly I try and avoid getting bags whenever possible to lower my own carbon footprint but that day I had too much to carry on the way out. Overall this place is NOT a great place to go if you're of African decent. I would definitely avoid this place. There's a reason why Lucky's is nearly out of business and traditionally lets be honest Sonoma isn't the most welcoming of places. As you can see from my other reviews I have not had the most pleasant experiences lately in The Bay Area...However! I write these reviews based on my experience so that others will benefit from the experiences that I have. But always do your own research! read more

I was so very disappointed when I went into Luckys on Highway 12 in Sonoma. The bakery staff was rude cold and disconnected. They made me feel like I was in their way taking up their time. Then I couldn't find an item so I found a staff member. She directed me down the same aisle. I can't down stating "there's little teeny signs at the top for you to see" I told her well I couldn't find what I needed. So she finally came up behind me and pointed it out. And not very pleasant. I tried to get the Pepsi that was on sale ,the 24 pack. I download the app clip the coupon got to the register and my phone number was nowhere to be found and so I had to put the Pepsi back. I just recently had surgery so I asked the bagger if he could go with me because the cases of water would be too heavy to light up and put into my car, with a cart full of groceries that's all he did was put the water in the car and he said bye. I will not be going back to Lucky and I will not be sending anybody there. I will be directing them to Whole Foods or Safeway. I've been here for 30 years, and I have never been treated so poorly. The customer service was terrible. The attitude was terrible. There was not a happy person in that store!!! read more

i never thought i'd write a yelp review for a grocery store, but this place is so awful i just don't understand it. the blonde cashier who wears her hair in a bun is SO slow and treats her job as social hour, they don't have any cashiers for express checkout- and at least half the self checkout machines are broken at any given time. it's also just dark, gross and sad, everything there looks like it's about to expire. safeway and whole foods are super close by, drive the extra few minutes and skip this place. i've never been to a more poorly run grocery store. No greeting, walked away while I stood there and didn't say she'd be right back to help, grabbed my things to go to self checkout as she finally walked back up, never acknowledged her customer, when I handed her the money she stood there staring at it and wouldn't grab it unless I leaned over to practically put it in her shirt, never said one single word during transaction. RUDE is an understatement!!! You must be desperate for employees to keep her at the front of your store to deal with customers! Safeway will be my forever choice now! Giving this store one star is generous! What happened to "3 is a crowd" motto? My son shopped today since I was out of town. He had a cart full and there were 2 checkers open and 12 & 10 people in each line. YES 12 & 10. He saw the store manager come out of their office hoping he'd open another line, but he just hung out and chatted with people. My son finally moved to the self check where there was a line as well, but not as long. He just happened to have a bottle of wine, which he knew wasn't ok, but at least he'd get some help. The manager (the tall silver haired man) came and rudely said he couldn't check out and started spewing the CA State Law. He told him to go back and get in the now longer check out line. My son took the wine, handed it to him and told him to go put it back on the shelf! No more Lucky's shopping for this family after decades of hit and miss trouble with management! I don't understand the low ratings and comments on staff. I've always found the produce ultra-fresh and well managed, and the meat counter guys are great. Since they've rebuilt and replaced all the cold displays, and redone the floors, it's been so much easier to find everything. If you call the bakery a few hours ahead, they'll put together just about anything...even extra snickerdoodle cookies! I do often wonder why no more than two or three lanes are open, but during high traffic periods they do have more open. Another thing that's good: when I've asked them to try to carry a new item, they've been quite kind and done it. I rush to tell everyone to buy it so they don't pull it from the shelves; they have to make a living after all. And best of all: they've also apparently rebuilt the ac/heating or done something with the filtration and the air is fresh as can be again. For the last few weeks, the Muzak has been LOUD country and western music. Every day all the time. I complained to a couple of long time employees and they hated it to, but could not do anything about it. Evidently they got a new sat music provider. I complained to headquarters in Modesto and they said they would look into it. At least turn it down I asked. On Saturday May 15, at about 8 pm I went shopping. The music was just as loud. I gritted my teeth and did my shopping only to find a line with 15 customers, two overworked checkers and NO SELF CHECKOUT. I put all the items back and went to Safeway 1 mile away. I did my shopping and had NO wait at self checkout. $40 to Safeway instead of Luckys. Safeway from now on. I will keep my receipts for 6 months and send to Luckys headquarters in Modesto, to show the real cost of that stores mismanagement. read more

Best grocery store in Sonoma in my opinion. Yes, you may beg to differ stating that Whole Foods or Sonoma Market may edge Lucky's out, but I always look for great deals versus paying an arm and a leg. With that said Lucky's is my go to store for quick pickups and might I add some stellar 4th of July deals! Parking is a breeze, but it may be tricky during high peak hours due to the multitude of stores in the parking lot as well. The store itself really has not changed in years, which is great, you know exactly where to find the food or drink you are looking for if you have been to this store before. As mentioned before, Lucky's has some great prices and it's fresh baked goods, vegetables, and meat are well above Safeway. I would like to also mention that the staff are quite friendly, so always ask questions honestly if you need help. read more

This is a smaller Lucky. Its produce section is small&rather sad, while their wine selection isn't as extensive as Napa. I was able to find what I needed, but Napa's Lucky on California Boulevard is much superior. The parking is tricky, especially at peak times. For the day after Christmas, it wasn't that bad. They share space with a cafe, an upscale Asian restaurant, a gourmet taqueria, Starbucks, a Rite Aid and UPS Store, so it will be chaotic. I was able to get what I needed, along with giving a donation. Some of the products I couldn't find were baffling- like Mrs. Renfro's pumpkin&craft beer salsas, some sale wines, and taco cheese. Their pelmeni/pierogi section was disorganized (ironic, considering how Sonoma County historically encompassed the last mission https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=479 and the southernmost of the Russian colonies http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=449 ) The service is friendly and fast. I guess Lucky never recovered from the corporate violence it suffered in the 90's, being changed to Albertsons and then back to Lucky, and then divided into Lucky and Food Maxx, and whatever else they did to it. It has better prices than Safeway, generally, but otherwise it's not much different. This one has some pleasant staff, a massive liquor section, no edible bread, for the most part, and their produce is usually fairly limited. Their meat supply is spotty, and like most supermarkets, they don't usually sell economical cuts of meat: I can't get bones for soup or shank for stew, or a mess of chicken backs for stock. But my primary beef with this store is the way it smells. That "deli" smells like the aftermath of a dumpster fire. read more

Me and a few friends (ages 14-16) went to this establishment. We decided to purchase a few snacks but one of my friends suggested we go to rite aid to grab a few things at a lower price, so we went to the rite aid next door. We came back and split up to find everything we need. When we regrouped outside the store we heard from one of our friends that apparently an employee as following some of my friends pretty closely, and during check out accused them of stealing and threatened to search his bag. Perhaps it was a tad suspicious but A: We weren't wearing anything suspicious unless you count the backpack my friend was wearing. And B: We didn't attempt to skip past the purchase window except when we left the store the first time. All and all I'd have to give No Man's Sky a 2 out of 5 honestly just a bear bones game even now. read more

The produce section is fine although the produce manager has, when I've shown him the ticket on a shelf for an item , claimed they never ever carried it. The meat is ok. Never buy fish from them, it is consistently too old. But the last two times I've asked the manager about an item they carry but I can't find, she too claims they have never carried it. I come here once a week. Never really crowded. They call for backup as lines fill. Decent selection, good prices. I don't go much for the produce so I cannot comment on that. Meat, fish and poultry always seem to be good. Alcohol selection is fair as well. Mid day parking can be a hassle sometimes, but with so many businesses in the lot..what do you expect? I never feel I am being followed...as I read below. But I can see the theft issue as the neighborhood it is in isn't ideal for outstanding citizens.
