Gray fried chicken spot! The chicken sandwich was delicious, Very juicy. The aïoli was gray. The buttermilk buns also are a nice touch. I do feel like the seasoning could use a little more kick to it. since a lot of the flavor relies on the sauce and the chicken breast is so juicy It is kind of a wet sandwich. Definitely worth checking out

Located inside the charming Grand Central market, you'll find the best chicken sandwich I've ever had in my entire life. Lucky Bird features an assortment of chicken, but the Hot honey Sammy with pickled jalapeños, cheese and a buttermilk herb chicken breast is truly one of the best bites you'll ever put in your mouth. We were in LA for four nights and went back twice! Highly recommend this stop!

Chicken Sandwich and Mac Salad

Ok, for real: Lucky Bird has some of the best fried chicken I've ever tasted. It's perfectly cooked; the skin is crunchy and full of flavor; and it's served hot and fresh. Delicious. I had the Chicken Sammie with coleslaw added and a side of mac salad. Everything was outstanding. The mac salad is a cold noodle dish, if you didn't know. Some foreigners were clearly confused by it. But it's a Hawaiian-style side. They use rotini noodles instead of macaroni though. My husband had the chicken and waffles and were raving about them. Like the skin just melted off, that's how tender it was. They also have beer, including a canned beer that's only $5! Service was fast and the women working the counter were all great. One girl, in particular, was super helpful and gave us water cups and just was very communicative. We were also lucky enough to snag seats at the counter, but they do fill up fast. There's only maybe 10 stools. Super busy on the weekends because they're in Grand Central Market, but worth it IMO.

Lucky Bird wasn't originally at the top of my list at Grand Central Market, but someone in our group suggested it because there was seating available--and I'm glad we gave it a chance. It ended up being very good. We ordered a chicken sandwich and two orders of the chicken tenders. The tenders were excellent--there's something about them that's different from what you usually get at most places, though I can't quite put my finger on what it is. They were definitely the standout for me. The woman taking orders and managing food pickup, waters, etc. was very friendly, but she clearly had a lot going on. Service was on the slower side, so this isn't the place to go if you're in a rush. The price point feels a bit high for what you get, but at least the food delivered. There are a few barstools if you want to eat there, though it seemed like most people were ordering to go. Overall, better than expected and worth trying if you're already at Grand Central Market.

Service is a 5! They were very nice!! But the chicken was a tad bit salty. I only ordered the Thigh and Breast. In their area, they have a cute little counter area to sit in.

Chicken Sammie

I have been to Lucky Bird two times and tried their chicken strips and sammie, both are a great portion and freshly made. I recommend buying extra dipping sauce when ordering tenders. Service at the counter is just ok, they could be more attentive when only 1 customer is waiting to order. Counter and seating are clean. Overall, very good food.

I ordered the Hot Honey Sammie and Potato Wedges, Key Points: Wasn't a big fan of their sauces Seating can be tough Oily and Messy Sandwich The Hot Honey Sammie overall was a good sandwich, it was just very oily and messy so make sure to grab extra napkins. The actual chicken patty was a good size, but it lacked spice. The Potato Wedges were good, nice and hot, I still prefer regular fries but these were a good try still. I ordered honey mustard and it comes with their own sauce as well, neither of the sauces were good. Food comes out quick, and the staff is friendly. The Grand Central Market can have tough seating depending when you come, the ambiance is super casual and busy.

Always a great time at grand central but darn this place is getting more and more expensive. Dine LA had a special with the sandwich's and a side. Good thing, without the deal I could only get the sandwich. Jojo are huge. I literally got filled just eating those. I had to bite the sandwich and it did not disappoint. Could be a little fresher but still good. In total, without card (3.5% fee) it was $16.46. The service was solid. Food came out right away. There was plenty of space to eat my food there but decided to eat elsewhere. Solid experience

Hot honey sammie

Wow! The hot honey sammie is amazing! Loved every bite--excellent flavor and different kind of crunchy breading on the chicken than I expected, soft bread, perfect amount of sauce and spice, really well made. Got the jojos on the side and didn't expect the pieces to be so big! Whatever sauce came with it was fire and I absolutely can't wait to get this place again so I can try different sides. Great service too!

Came here during a trip to LA. Ordered the 3 chicken tender dish with habanero honey. The chicken was perfectly crisp yet moist inside, and the dip was quite spicy. I felt that it was a good combination. They have some seats and offer you water in a cup, which is a rare find here at the market (all other places I visited sold bottled water). Service was friendly and fast (took just 5 minutes for the chicken).

Hot Honey Sammie and Macaroni and Cheese.

The Grand Central Market is full of such amazing food and Lucky Bird fits right in with the best of them. My wife and I tried Lucky Bird on Monday afternoon for the first time and we both left with full stomachs and smiles on our stupid faces. The menu here isn't huge but it really doesn't need to be. It offers fried chicken, chicken strips, and chicken sandwiches.....so what else do you need out of a fried chicken joint? Nothing! Well, sides but they have you covered with those too. I ended up ordering the "hot honey Sammie" which is a pretty good size chicken sandwiches covered in a hot honey sauce. On the side we split some macaroni and cheese and some JoJos (which is what they call giant potato wedges). The chicken sandwiches covered was absolutely phenomenal from the juiciness of the chicken to the flavour of the hot honey, absolutely top notch chicken sandwich. The Jojo's were very good as well, basically just being fried chunks of potatoes. The only part of the meal that wasn't a homerun was the macaroni and cheese, which was kind of just bland and mediocre. Overall, Lucky Bird is definitely the king of fried chicken in the Grand Central Market and was definitely a meal I enjoyed. Even with the "meh" of the macaroni and cheese, I really enjoyed the meal and will absolutely be coming back again.

I genuinely believe these are the best chicken fingers I've ever had. I first tried Lucky Bird at the LA Times Food bowl and was so blown away, which meant I needed to actually visit their location and try everything fresh. The chicken tenders have the most perfect crispy crunchy breading, and the flaky salt on top is what makes these so spectacular. They are served right from the fryer, meaning they are hot and fresh! I ordered mine with some sort of creamy salsa verde which was delicious, but they had a bunch of other sauce options as well. The cheddar jalapeño biscuits with honey butter are also 10/10!! Lucky Bird is located inside the Grand Central Market -- a bustling food hall with a variety of options to eat and drink. They don't have a ton of dedicated seating because of this, but we were able to grab some barstools at their counter. You order at the register and then the food comes out when ready, which we found to be pretty fast!

FOOD: got the 3-pc chicken tenders, which came with your choice of different dipping sauces. Went with the classic ranch buttermilk dressing. Chicken was fresh hot, tender on the inside, crispy and light on the outside. Would've been nice if the meal came with some French fries, unfortunately it didn't. Most of their sides are purchased separately so be warned to spend some $$$$. PRICE: Expensive! Everything is a bit pricey. Paid a steep $19.32 for the tenders only and dipping sauce (includes tax and additional 3.5% charge when paying with a credit card). If you want additional sauce, you gotta pay extra. I just couldn't justify paying almost $20 for chicken tenders. Still, was curious to try their chicken and I did.

Our waiter was personable and took our order quickly as well as consistently replenished our drinking water. Everything was delicious and had its own unique flavor, from the chickpea fritters which had softness and crunchiness, the goat mousse with sweet and savory sauces and the crumpets and crackers; then the goat belly with a deliciously crisp skin and soft inside and intense flavor (but not gamey) with a rich sauce, the steak was yummy and precut, and the pork shank which was epic! I loved all the greens and pita to wrap the pork and goodies into! We ended with a bday scoop of mango sticky ice cream which was completely different than I've had before and yummy.

With things like goat curry and gluten free options, you gotta have rice. Second, they ran out of goat curry. I came all the way from San Diego to try it. Oh well. Excuse to come back. I loved every bite I tried. There was nothing that disappointed. The standouts were the green beans, the Brussels sprouts that came with the chicken, the pork shank and the tuna and crunchy quinoa salad. I'm still thinking of that crunchy quinoa. We had no room for dessert. So maybe next time we try the goat curry, get the quinoa salad again and get dessert! The service was great too. Attentive but not overbearing. It's a cute restaurant both inside and outside.

Just a back story on that, I made a reservation for June 15 2025, I received an email from the floor manager telling me all reservations have been canceled due to an event. Mind you, I get this email on June 13th. I was annoyed because I had to scramble and find a restaurant that had availability. I'm sure they knew of this event a while ago. So that was annoying. In September of 2025, I reached out to the floor manager, Ani, and tried to make a reservation for September 14th. She informed me that they will be closed for an event. So I reached out to Ani one last time to get a reservation for my anniversary on April 21st. We finally got in! So with all of the back and forth with Ani, I kind of expected them to go above and beyond. But unfortunately, I felt we were treated not so great. When we arrived, we waited a good 10 mins until the hostess greeted us. The time we were there, no one acknowledged our presence. When she finally came, she did apologized and walked us over to a big table in the farthest corner in the restaurant. Now mind you, it was only 3 of us, and they tried to sit us at a table that can seat 6, in a corner. No no, I'm not sitting there. I've literally been trying to come here for the past 9months and it's my anniversary. So I asked to be sat at a smaller table in the middle of the restaurant. Now, I'm familiar on how the seating works as it really comes down to the amount of servers you have and the amount of tables are within their section. But again, the manager Ani, was fully aware of my reservation and I felt that she should've provided better hospitality for us. So, once we were seated, we waited awhile for our waiter. When he finally showed up, we placed our order. We had drinks, appetizers, and our main meal. The menu is on the smaller side, so I expected the food to be overly delicious. But it was just ok. It was good, but not mind blowing. After dinner, I asked the waiter if I can speak with Ani. She came and I reminded her who I was and the back and forth emails we've had since July 2025. She knew right away. I told her I was a bit disappointed that the hostess was trying to sit us in the far corner. All she said was "oh sorry about that". That was it, no complementary dessert, or anything. Like wow! We've been treated so much better at other restaurants. It was real disappointing. I would not recommend this spot nor would I come back. I suggest the managers do more hospitality trainings.

It's a filling starter of a few of their breads (the pre-buttered & chives topped charred levain was exquisite as is - no notes!) and a few of their toppings.
