If you want chicken that is hot and juicy with a crispy exterior lucky bird is the place to go. It is located in Grand Central market in downtown Los Angeles. I wish they had more locations other than the one in downtown because they're chicken is phenomenal. Well seasoned brined in citrus and salt, this prep develops the flavor of the chicken and a nice crispy coating on the outside sprinkled with salt. They have several sauces you can choose from. Today, I had the habanero, honey sweet with a little kick and not too spicy. Service here is quick if you have ever gone to Grand Central market in Los Angeles. Yes, of course it's in the middle of where the area is rundown but it's still a good tourist area.

Delivery: Uber eats So I had this huge craving for fried chicken today. Not chicken nuggets, tenders or wings... just some regular pieces of chicken. I found Lucky Bird on Uber eats and it was close by (which is a must to keep the chicken crunchy). It arrived pretty quick. I got the 2 pieces of chicken with a bunch of their homemade sauces: habanero honey, buttermilk ranch and the paprika aioli that came with the potato jojos. Unfortunately the fried chicken was just over fried, but the sauces saved it. The skin was to the point where it almost tasted/looked burnt, but I dipped it in the honey and I got a little bit of my crunchy fix. The chicken inside was juicy. It came with a drumstick and a breast. All in all I was satisfied and enjoyed dipping the chicken inside all the sauces. The sauces themselves were excellent. The honey definitely has a kick.. I would love to out that in a cornbread. The ranch tasted very fresh. The paprika flavor in the aioli stood out more with the chicken than the potatoes. With the potatoes I feel like the paprika gets drowned out for some reason. The jojo potatoes are cut pretty big.. not my style, but my toddler enjoyed them.

Ok, for real: Lucky Bird has some of the best fried chicken I've ever tasted. It's perfectly cooked; the skin is crunchy and full of flavor; and it's served hot and fresh. Delicious. I had the Chicken Sammie with coleslaw added and a side of mac salad. Everything was outstanding. The mac salad is a cold noodle dish, if you didn't know. Some foreigners were clearly confused by it. But it's a Hawaiian-style side. They use rotini noodles instead of macaroni though. My husband had the chicken and waffles and were raving about them. Like the skin just melted off, that's how tender it was. They also have beer, including a canned beer that's only $5! Service was fast and the women working the counter were all great. One girl, in particular, was super helpful and gave us water cups and just was very communicative. We were also lucky enough to snag seats at the counter, but they do fill up fast. There's only maybe 10 stools. Super busy on the weekends because they're in Grand Central Market, but worth it IMO.

Located inside the charming Grand Central market, you'll find the best chicken sandwich I've ever had in my entire life. Lucky Bird features an assortment of chicken, but the Hot honey Sammy with pickled jalapeños, cheese and a buttermilk herb chicken breast is truly one of the best bites you'll ever put in your mouth. We were in LA for four nights and went back twice! Highly recommend this stop!

Lucky Bird wasn't originally at the top of my list at Grand Central Market, but someone in our group suggested it because there was seating available--and I'm glad we gave it a chance. It ended up being very good. We ordered a chicken sandwich and two orders of the chicken tenders. The tenders were excellent--there's something about them that's different from what you usually get at most places, though I can't quite put my finger on what it is. They were definitely the standout for me. The woman taking orders and managing food pickup, waters, etc. was very friendly, but she clearly had a lot going on. Service was on the slower side, so this isn't the place to go if you're in a rush. The price point feels a bit high for what you get, but at least the food delivered. There are a few barstools if you want to eat there, though it seemed like most people were ordering to go. Overall, better than expected and worth trying if you're already at Grand Central Market.

Service is a 5! They were very nice!! But the chicken was a tad bit salty. I only ordered the Thigh and Breast. In their area, they have a cute little counter area to sit in.

I ordered the Hot Honey Sammie and Potato Wedges, Key Points: Wasn't a big fan of their sauces Seating can be tough Oily and Messy Sandwich The Hot Honey Sammie overall was a good sandwich, it was just very oily and messy so make sure to grab extra napkins. The actual chicken patty was a good size, but it lacked spice. The Potato Wedges were good, nice and hot, I still prefer regular fries but these were a good try still. I ordered honey mustard and it comes with their own sauce as well, neither of the sauces were good. Food comes out quick, and the staff is friendly. The Grand Central Market can have tough seating depending when you come, the ambiance is super casual and busy.

I have been to Lucky Bird two times and tried their chicken strips and sammie, both are a great portion and freshly made. I recommend buying extra dipping sauce when ordering tenders. Service at the counter is just ok, they could be more attentive when only 1 customer is waiting to order. Counter and seating are clean. Overall, very good food.

Always a great time at grand central but darn this place is getting more and more expensive. Dine LA had a special with the sandwich's and a side. Good thing, without the deal I could only get the sandwich. Jojo are huge. I literally got filled just eating those. I had to bite the sandwich and it did not disappoint. Could be a little fresher but still good. In total, without card (3.5% fee) it was $16.46. The service was solid. Food came out right away. There was plenty of space to eat my food there but decided to eat elsewhere. Solid experience

Gray fried chicken spot! The chicken sandwich was delicious, Very juicy. The aïoli was gray. The buttermilk buns also are a nice touch. I do feel like the seasoning could use a little more kick to it. since a lot of the flavor relies on the sauce and the chicken breast is so juicy It is kind of a wet sandwich. Definitely worth checking out

Wow! The hot honey sammie is amazing! Loved every bite--excellent flavor and different kind of crunchy breading on the chicken than I expected, soft bread, perfect amount of sauce and spice, really well made. Got the jojos on the side and didn't expect the pieces to be so big! Whatever sauce came with it was fire and I absolutely can't wait to get this place again so I can try different sides. Great service too!

Came here during a trip to LA. Ordered the 3 chicken tender dish with habanero honey. The chicken was perfectly crisp yet moist inside, and the dip was quite spicy. I felt that it was a good combination. They have some seats and offer you water in a cup, which is a rare find here at the market (all other places I visited sold bottled water). Service was friendly and fast (took just 5 minutes for the chicken).

I highly recommend this chain location and can vouch for the food and service!!! Is the hype warranted? an astounding YES! I looked into the secret menu and got to try the Mario Fries, Lou's Chicken Sandwich, Quarter Chicken Breast with all their sauces, and Banana Pudding! The staff was lovely and I met Matt, the manager. I was greeted with an excited and hyped staff. They were kind and welcoming. Food came pippin' hot and the first bite of the quarter chicken breast was everything- juicy, smoky, spicy, and filled with seasoning! I heard comparisons between this chain and others and finally understood the difference: the chicken is at the forefront along with different layers of flavor that are in the sandwich! Think of Dave's Hot Chicken but meatier , juicier, and much flavorful. Everything is elevated with subtle sophistication- the slaw, all the sauces, and breading. It seemed all curated individually for your meal. For comparison, it is like getting a pastry at your local bakery vs. at a patisserie in Paris, FR. It's the same dessert but one is much better, especially if you pay attention to the subtleties. If you want to taste Howling Ray's in one dish, this would be it! The other dishes were also delightful, the Lou's sandwich had waffles as the buns with powdered sugar and syrup on top; imagine smoky, savory, with fulfilling sweetness. The banana pudding was also wonderful; not to sweet but subtle flavors with high quality ingredients. The Mario's fries are the ultimate chicken loaded fries and would have you full and fulfilled. Everything was of great. You are paying for quality and you will not regret it, especially if you like flavors and spicy. There is a reason that there is a line even before this restaurant opens. Not only would I recommend this place, I recommend bringing a crew so you can share the experience together. I am now a fan and I will be back and will bringing others with me.

Happies is located in Arts District and I came here on a Sunday dinner and didn't have any problems with parking. But, I can see how it might be hard to find if you come during peak hours. The restaurant was pretty empty. First thing I noticed was that there were tons of employees but no one really said anything. Since there was no one ordering, they were all standing around. You can just order at the kiosk but I wanted to ask a few questions but was kind of left to fend for myself. I ended up ordering the chicken tenders and chicken tenders with salad. I thought the restaurant ambience was nice. And after waiting for about 10 minutes, my order came out. They gave me extra sauce but again no explanation on why the extra sauce was provided. As for the food, I thought the chicken was kind of bland. I expected some Sichuan style but hardly any spice on the chicken. Once of the sauces was a Sichuan chili crisp, which gave the chicken more taste. Maybe the chicken was bland because I was supposed to dip it in the sauces? Aside from that, the other sauces were average (ranch and sweet/sour sauce). The salad was definitely a huge miss. They didn't dress the salad properly and only put dressing on top, so I just got a bunch of romaine lettuce at the end. The best part of my meal was the fries, which was crispy and fresh. Also, the fries were pretty generous. I think that the food was just average. Probably will not come back here but glad I came to check out what the hype was about.

I ordered the fried chicken sandwich, and it was way bigger than I expected. I also got the Le Coupe Sauce on the side, which is a mix of honey mustard and BBQ sauce.
