Good food and service. They would have to place an order online. They only have to call an order.

Roach

Dissapponted but happy the roach made its appearance before I ordered food! The place looked sketchy looking but was recommended to me and I have always believed little hole in the wall restaurants make the best food.

Garlic chicken with fried rice and chow mein

This is a hidden gem!!! Great prices. Delicious food. Mongolian beef was bursting with flavor. Garlic chicken was the perfect mix of crispy and saucy. Everything was piping hot and very fresh!

a take out container of chinese food

Spent $12 on this plate keep in mind these aren't like the regular small plates you get at any Chinese app these are the large plates they are well served I ordered a combo broccoli beef with I don't know what else tbh I'm drunk rn Lmfaoo there was forsure fish in there too ask for soy sauce the fried rice needs it giving four stars because they didn't give me enough siracha

Mongolian Beef and Kung Pao beef combo with egg rolls

This place is located on Yosemite Blvd in the heart of the sketchiest area of Modesto, but don't let that deter you from trying this place out. It is THE hidden gem of the Chinese food industry. I initially tried this place because I was searching for the best Wor Wonton soup. I have tried at least 10 places in Modesto/Ceres and this place won hands down; like they blew the other places away. I then tried other menu items and I have never been disappointed. They have a combo plate section that not only lets you choose 1 or 2 entrees, but it allows you to choose an appetizer as well; ranging from foil wrapped chicken to fried fish or prawns to egg rolls. There are 18 choices of entrees to choose from that most other places don't even offer on their combo plates. Prices for the combos range from $7.25-$9.25 and the servings are GINORMOUS . The restaurant itself isn't really inviting as far as location and interior goes, but it's family owned, the service is awesome, the food is cooked fresh with fresh ingredients and if you live nearby, they also deliver for free if you order $20 worth of food. If not, there's always GrubHub. Get a to-go meal (or two) on a Netflix binge night; you won't be disappointed!

Food is really yummy! Yes the area is sketchy and the place is kinda dumpy but the food that comes out of the kitchen is on point! Must try.

This place rocks my socks off. Dont let the atmosphere make you sketchy. Good food, big portions, and cheap.

Very friendly service, food is decent American Chinese. Small, family owned and operated business. Food to money ratio is more than great.

Food was ok, too many fillers (water chestnuts, fruit, tofu) other than that great taste, and delivered hot food!

The inside is decked out in lucky red and reminded me of those mom-n-pop Chinese restaurants of yore. There's a walk-up counter to place to-go orders. I ordered: Salt n pepper shrimp - I counted 14 head OFF shrimp with 60% onions, NO jalapenos for almost $17. The shrimp looked like the kind you find in a frozen bag at Costco - small and... shrimpy. I get this may be a bastardized version to appeal to the general demographic in Turlock, but I was not impressed. It's what made me write my review right away, I was so shocked by the small amount I got. Chicken chow mein - this was ordered at the counter for the SO after placing my original order over the phone. When he dug into it, it was 40% bean sprouts and barely any chicken, maybe 5 or 6 small pieces... Beef chow fun - same issue of overcompensating with hella bean sprouts. The beef wasn't velveted enough and a bit tough. Taste was fine. Chili oil spilled over in my to-go bag and didn't have much spice at all. All three entrees came in the leftover to-go sized boxes, totaling almost $50 after tax and tip. I understand inflation and all, but cannot justify returning due to the negative value for the amount of food received. It's unfortunate because the service is probably some of the best for a Chinese restaurant. Super friendly over the phone and just as friendly in-person. As Gordon Ramsay would say, "Damn. What a shame."

The Hof Brau idea is so lovingly unique, if you're craving a French Dip, why not? xD Get some wonton soup with it on the side! No-nonsense ordering- tell them what you want and they'll tell you what it costs. It gets BUSY but it's honestly an entertaining little show to watch them cooking up a bunch of orders at once, shouting back to the kitchen, and moving like the well-oiled machine this place has always been. The food is so worth the weight- I mean- wait! If you love family recipes and pride from food that runs generations deep, come here. My favorite is the combo plate with garlic chicken and BBQ pork. Girl, they even sell cigarettes here. You know the food is good and it's something you'd never be able to recreate or replicate at home. Pro tip: if you're fussy with veggies, you can ask for no vegetables in the chow mein!! He'll raise his eyebrow at you but he'll always do it if you ask politely.

I ordered the honey walnut shrimp combination but asked for all chow mein since I'm not a big fan of fried rice for $16.31 with card after taxes. I believe there's a 2-3% additional charge if you use card, but I could be remembering incorrectly. Definitely call and ask or bring cash! The shrimp was fantastic. It had the right amount of batter, wasn't overcooked whatsoever and the shrimp was nice and bouncy. The sauce wasn't overly sweet or artificial tasting either! The chow mein was okay. Noodles slightly overcooked and on the verge of being mushy and as I continued eating it got extremely salty so I had to stop. Unfortunately will not be getting it again! A ton of these reviews are saying they pack the food here.. pack where? There is way too much space in the box. Food is decent but there are other spots to try, and at $16.31 I'll just take myself to Panda Express honestly!
