I'm not sure how many Chinese restaurants there are in this area, this is the one that I came up…read morewith when I searched. The restaurant itself feels like an establishment that has seen a few restaurants come and go. It's not extremely well lit or heated, not sure about the hot summer months. It's a mom and pop, not a chain restaurant. It's also not easily identifiable as a Chinese restaurant except for the sign above the door. We were looking for a place to meet up while on the road and this was it. The owner is very nice, it's a family run place, they work hard. I get the feeling that they need more business, I did see a lot of togo orders float out the door, but our party was the only sit down party while we were there. The food was good. There were 8 of us, so I ordered 3 appetizers for us to snack on while we waited for the rest of our food. We had the egg rolls, wontons and the pot stickers. Nothing lasted long, before we knew it, the food was on the table. I know I'm a spoiled San Francisco self proclaimed foodie/yelp critic, so take my review whatever way you want to based on that admission. I'll just say that based on where this place is located it's good enough and I can't be really picky. I'll also probably never be back, purely based on location. Nothing would stop me from returning. If for no other reason, to support a hard working restaurant owner. The food was good enough, not to be compared with high end San Francisco or Bay area fancy chinese food. That would be unfair. I had some general chicken, it was sticky and had a slight spice. One person in our party had War Wonton soup and thought it to be on the sweet side. The menu has a wide range of dishes, I'm sure if you're a local you must have a favorite dish, if I lived near this place I would try a bunch of different dishes. In the end we all left in a good mood.

I would definitely not recommend this place and if you do order out MAKE SURE YOU CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE EATING IT

Walking in, the smell of freshly made Chinese food was so good, if I hadn't been hungry when I walked in, I would have been afterward. Ordered a 2 item plate with fried rice, bbq pork and chicken with a side of veggie egg rolls. The owners are super polite and were very happy to have my business. Reminded me a lot of a Chinese place I grew up with down the road from us. The bbq pork was very good, chicken yummy and the fried rice was completely gone (a rarity for me tbh, I make my own normally) the egg rolls were really good as well. It cost me under 13 dollars for a lunch that has me feeling so full I may not need to have dinner. Will definitely be back to try the other menu items.

Came to Golden China as a spur of the moment dinner idea and tbh I'm super disappointed…read more Located off Geer in the Turlock Town Center, Golden China serves typical no frills Chinese fare. The inside is decked out in lucky red and reminded me of those mom-n-pop Chinese restaurants of yore. There's a walk-up counter to place to-go orders. I ordered: Salt n pepper shrimp - I counted 14 head OFF shrimp with 60% onions, NO jalapenos for almost $17. The shrimp looked like the kind you find in a frozen bag at Costco - small and... shrimpy. I get this may be a bastardized version to appeal to the general demographic in Turlock, but I was not impressed. It's what made me write my review right away, I was so shocked by the small amount I got. Chicken chow mein - this was ordered at the counter for the SO after placing my original order over the phone. When he dug into it, it was 40% bean sprouts and barely any chicken, maybe 5 or 6 small pieces... Beef chow fun - same issue of overcompensating with hella bean sprouts. The beef wasn't velveted enough and a bit tough. Taste was fine. Chili oil spilled over in my to-go bag and didn't have much spice at all. All three entrees came in the leftover to-go sized boxes, totaling almost $50 after tax and tip. I understand inflation and all, but cannot justify returning due to the negative value for the amount of food received. It's unfortunate because the service is probably some of the best for a Chinese restaurant. Super friendly over the phone and just as friendly in-person. As Gordon Ramsay would say, "Damn. What a shame."

Super delicious and it had that great wok flavor that we all love in Chinese food. The kung pao chicken and mapo tofu were pretty good too, but we thought both could've been spicier. The flavor was all in the sauce for the mapo tofu, but not in the tofu itself. I didn't mind the ambiance too much inside but it was kind of dark inside. Seems like a great place for family dinners though!
